08.25.21 | Yeah, from the ones I've seen my order is exactly the reverse of yours. Dark Knight and Inception at the bottom, Prestige and the other two Batmans near the top, Interstellar in a mid position. |
BookoftheFallen
08.25.21 | I think The Prestige is my favorite movie. I havent seen Tenet yet. Is it worth watching? |

08.25.21 | Honestly list is what I would expect from most Nolan fans honestly. I'd be pretty different.
Batman Begins>The Dark Knight>Dunkirk>Inception>The Following>Interstellar>Tenet>The Prestige>Memento |
Vercetti
08.25.21 | Tenet is weird. It has the worst characters and dialogue of all of his movies but also the most interesting concept and the best action scenes. |
Sinternet
08.25.21 | ahh yes the steven moffat of film, complete with insufferable fans
memento and the prestige are way above anything else he's done. inception is ok. the batman films i find boring af but i see the appeal. everything else is bleh. |

08.25.21 | I remember being the most floored by Interstellar and The Prestige on first viewing. Especially Interstellar. I know people shit on it but just the sheer spectacle and scope of that film paired with the creative liberties they took, elevated it's appeal as something larger than life especially on first viewing as you don't know wtf is happening. Then there's that soundtrack, with that docking scene, with those Matt Damon and Matthew Mcconaughey performances, the wormhole scene, the black hole moment etc. Incredible ambition and storytelling despite all it's flaws (Anne Hathaway, corny dialogue, plot holes, less appeal on repeated viewings etc). The Prestige would be a close second for that revelatory plot twist reveal. It's in the name itself. And something about the psychological dueling between Bale and Jackman throughout the film which makes it more interesting than Inception, which is a visual and conceptual masterclass in it's own right of course. It just felt more interesting than enjoyable, and Leo's acting was emblematic of the appeal of the film. Good but just lacking some kind of human element.
The Dark Knight is amazing in it's own right but more for Heath Ledger's aura and it's rich, sleek style than anything else. The other two films in the trilogy kind of reinforce that point. In the sense that they're kind of shit. Memento isn't far off in terms of the quality of writing, plot twist and concept, just lacking in production value and execution in certain areas as you'd expect. Dunkirk is cinematographic porn and a great slow burner but the time plot was shoehorned in and not having a single enemy soldier in it is both it's biggest detractor and proponent as a war film. Tenet man, idk what the fuck that dialogue, acting and characterization was. So much wasted potential. Just makes you wish Tarentino would do the dialogue for one of these films and Nolan can just stick to the conceptual shit lmao. |

08.25.21 | Vercetti's observation about Tenet is kind of true. There isn't the depth or emotional impact like Inception or Interstellar, it's all about the mind-bending plot and visuals, which is fine. I love the action scenes more and more with each of his movies, especially in the 2010s, whereas before there was too much quick cutting and shakey cam, like in Batman Begins. Interstellar is where his filmmaking reached new heights for sure, but I just wish the screenplay was a little more smooth in that second half. The whole Matt Damon section seemed off with the rest, and the very end was a bit abrupt. It's still like a 9/10 movie for me though, I love it. I feel like Dunkirk is his masterpiece in terms of his directing and the visuals, but The Prestige, The Dark Knight, and Inception are my top 3. |

08.25.21 | I actually love Following. Inception is probably my favorite followed by it then Memento then Dark Knight. I somehow still haven't seen Rising. Prestige is pretty good too imo |

08.25.21 | Tenet is one of those movies you watch on the big screen, or for visuals/action scenes. I liked it but it definitely has its flaws and is nowhere near his best, but I will say the concept is incredible. |

08.25.21 | Piglet is one the best users haha |
Evreaia
08.25.21 | Personally I'd bump 2 down to 4 but the rest seems fine to me. |

08.25.21 | Tenet is the worst movie I’ve ever seen. Interstellar is prob my favorite Nolan but Insomnia is close |
Ryus
08.25.21 | memento and the prestige are way above anything else he's done. [2]
dunkirk and inception are particularly terrible |

08.25.21 | "Tenet is weird. It has the worst characters and dialogue of all of his movies but also the most interesting concept and the best action scenes."
Yup. It simultaneously puts his biggest strengths and weaknesses as a filmmaker on display.
Also Dunkirk is complete dogshit and Nolan needs to never do anything like that again. |
CaliggyJack
08.25.21 | Dunkirk is awesome shush |
WeepingBanana
08.25.21 | It blows my mind that people like Tenet. It feels like a parody of a Nolan movie. Just completely devoid of any heart, the “concept” is not cool, and it’s about an hour longer than it needs to be
Don’t think I ever saw all of Dunkirk, I don’t really care about it
Inception is fine, not terrible, not great
Haven’t seen most of these in so long but
Interstellar
Insomnia
Memento
The Prestige
Inception
The Dark Knight
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight Rises
Tenet |
WeepingBanana
08.25.21 | After memento it’s all pretty bad tho. Also forgot how bad TDKR is technically, aside from being blatant copoganda |
BigTuna
08.25.21 | "Incredible ambition and storytelling despite all it's flaws."
Basically all of Nolan's films from 2008 and on for me (haven't seen Dunkirk though). |

10.19.23 | 5 should be 1. Really incredible movie that gets better with every rewatch |
MeatSalad
10.19.23 | Random bump but ok
Oppenheimer can get thrown somewhere in the middling shitpile of the bottom half of this list |
