06.01.21 | wheres Van Weezer |
SitarHero
06.01.21 | First two are aight but then things really fall apart...kind of like VH's history with vocalists. |
Casavir
06.01.21 | 6 is 1. |
CaliggyJack

06.01.21 | "1. 5150"
Nope. |
Koris
06.01.21 | 9 is waaaaaaay too low |
Koris
06.01.21 | @Sitar: Not sure I entirely agree with that. I actually like quite a bit of the Van Hagar stuff, especially on 5150 |
SitarHero
06.01.21 | 5150 is the best of the Van Hagar albums, but to have it at 1? |
Koris
06.01.21 | But this guy has it at 4...
Edit: oh shit, just saw you were referencing Caliggy. Never mind, lol |
SitarHero
06.01.21 | Ha! Yeah... |
Koris
06.01.21 | Putting Van Halen III over A Different Kind of Truth is kind of a hot take as well. Not saying the latter is really all that stellar either, but I feel like most people have agreed upon III being their worst by now |
SitarHero
06.01.21 | ADKOT wins just by virtue of having actual songs and decent production. VHIII is just such an awful listening experience on every level.
|
Koris
06.01.21 | It's such a shame how they did Gary Cherone dirty on that record. He was a really solid frontman in Extreme, so to see/hear him like that was quite saddening. Probably affected his reputation as well, I'd imagine |
SitarHero
06.01.21 | Yeah I think Gary being younger and looking up to the VH guys meant he didn't push back against Eddie's ideas much to the album's detriment. It's especially frustrating because there are interesting ideas on the album, and it seemed like there was definitely room and inspiration for Van halen to grow in a new direction, but the execution was just so awful... |
CaliggyJack
06.01.21 | Hagar>Roth
Also VHIII had Without You. Truth has nothing and Roth sucked. |
SitarHero
06.02.21 | Only someone who was introduced to Van Halen by the Power Rangers movie could hold that opinion. |
MetalMarcJK
07.02.21 | VAN HALEN! |
MetalMarcJK
07.02.21 | I may not agree with all your ranking, but the top 12 albums kick ass! |
CaliggyJack
07.02.21 | "Only someone who was introduced to Van Halen by the Power Rangers movie could hold that opinion."
I will admit this is how I was introduced to them but I disagree that it is an incorrect viewpoint. |
SitarHero
07.03.21 | Haha! FUCKING CALLED IT! Damn, should've invested in crypto instead... |
CaliggyJack
07.04.21 | "Haha! FUCKING CALLED IT! Damn, should've invested in crypto instead..."
NGL you're the first person to mention Van Halen to me in relation to Power Rangers, so I figured I was the only one who discovered the band through the movie.
Movie's fucking baller btw |
MetalMarcJK
07.04.21 | Original Dave-era albums are the best overall, but the concerts with Sammy were much, much more fun than the Dave-era shows.

CaliggyJack
07.04.21 | "Original Dave-era albums are the best overall, but the concerts with Sammy were much, much more fun than the Dave-era shows."
Disagree so much. Sammy vocals propel his era far above Dave's, even if the Dave era had the better instrumentation. |
SitarHero
07.04.21 | Lol yeah I can't hate on that movie, or the inclusion of Dreams on the soundtrack. I loved both when I was a kid. It wasn't how I discovered Van Halen, but it was probably pretty close.
But I think there's definitely a generational divide among VH fans the way there used to be a generational divide among Star Wars fans. Sammy Hagar is the ewok of Van Halen and The Power Rangers Movie his Return of the Jedi. |
CaliggyJack
07.04.21 | "But I think there's definitely a generational divide among VH fans the way there used to be a generational divide among Star Wars fans."
I can accept that. I was born in '94 so I first started to really listen to music around '99 when the Post-Grunge movement took off. So the more emotional, vocal focused Sammy era was more appealing to me than Dave's. |
