05.04.21 | Solid picks. Though I'd personally probably pick different songs from a lot of the albums:
1 ("Here Comes the Sun")
2 (no change here, completely agree)
3 ("Strawberry Fields Forever," my favorite song of all time)
4 ("A Day In the Life")
5/6 (not really into Bob Dylan outside of a handful of songs from '65/'66)
7 ("The End")
8 (I agree here)
9/10 (never got as big into these albums)
11 (not really a King Crimson guy)
12/13 (pretty much agree)
14 (not a fan)
15 ("Sunday Morning," "Waiting for the Man," "Venus In Furs," "All Tomorrow's Parties," "Heroin")
Personal preferations aside, great list. | widowslaugh123

05.05.21 | Well shit, I figured folks would just ignore this.
I'm using the crowd wisdom of Sput to revisit some highly-rated albums and discover new stuff that I never bothered to listen to. This is a document of that adventure and the songs that had an impression on me. (I've now added this to the description.)
Don't really expect anyone to actually care, but I do like to hear what others think are the standouts.
The 60s isn't too varied for me because there weren't a ton of albums that really resonated with me. Once I get into the 70s, it'll be a lot less stuff from a single album.
There are definitely some "good" tracks on these albums (and others not in the list) that I left out because I'm trying to limit myself to 50. "Heroin" is definitely in that bucket.
"The End" is a song that I liked at first, but I think it just goes on too long after repeated listens (especially in the remastered version where Morrison just repeats "Fuck" over and over).
Everyone says the Beatles are amazing, but I still don't really "get" it. |
