not much of SGP's good stuff is on spotify. they only have like 1/2 of blvcklvnd rvdix 66.6
|
Nuchoking
03.15.21 | Pretty much love anything L'Orange lends a hand on... I like the album mentioned. Only other I've checked is Ka, which falls a bit flat on me for some reason.
Look forward to hearing the others, thanks appreciated. |

Nuchoking
03.16.21 | "Best rappers I've ever heard are...." cheers pretty familiar with all mentioned but thanks, couple suggested are on the list and Eyedea was certainly close.
"Check Tha Grimm Teachaz" Will do, down on the list.
Sounds like good memories RS
|
Nuchoking
03.16.21 | I see... because I don't rate some artists as highly as yourself the whole list becomes irrelevant, I'm more than aware of all those mentioned I just don't rate them as highly as you evidently do.
I'm not questioning the impact on these people on the culture, I simply choose not to put them in the list... which I would of said if you'd have asked. |
Jash
03.16.21 | lol at a lack of Immortal Technique making this list “irrelevant”
Forgot to mention because of Armand Hammer you should check Elucid’s solo stuff if you haven’t already. That new Armand Hammer X The Alchemist record is going to go so hard |
widowslaugh123
03.16.21 | Immortal technique is pretty cringe from the little bit I heard
Sick list bro
Some classics but also a few curveballs. Good shit |
Nuchoking
03.16.21 | I'll be sure to check out ELUCID's solo stuff, I've sleeping on that big fan of Billy Woods and obviously love the work they do together on Armand Hammer. I also second that could anything go wrong with that collaboration, too good.
"Some classics but also a few curveballs. Good shit"
Thanks for that, appreciated.

Jash
03.16.21 | “ Um, IT's Revolutionary Vol 1 and 2 were immense within the culture”
Immense in what sense? The fact he was able to self release off profits from his battle rapping is neat and all, but his style suits battles way more than it does full length albums imo, and to say that he was more influential than a lot of people on the list above is wild |
Nuchoking
03.16.21 | "Um, IT's Revolutionary Vol 1 and 2 were immense within the culture"
If you say so, as I said I'm not really getting into the cultural impact anyway. It's a personal taste thing and I simply don't like his stuff particularly.
Your right I'm not massively familiar with Lux,if it's the same person I'm thinking of. Only thing I think I've heard is a track called Boom Box... who knows, please direct me to a release if I've been sleeping on them but yeah can't say much more.

03.16.21 | But you got Hieroglyphics so I can't be too mad |
Jash
03.16.21 | Buying a label that hasn’t produced anything seemingly essential minus maybe one or two of his albums (depending who you ask) doesn’t seem immensely important to the culture to me, but hey at least he kept the paycheques coming to some artists so big ups for that |
Nuchoking

03.18.21 | 'I love the inclusion of Bow Down. That's such a crazy good album'
Cant argue with that, think I listened to this prior to anything else Ice Cube had been involved in up to that time, always loved it from the off.
'lots of good stuff in here tho mr nuchoking props for including VV and not just putting madvillainy in'
I near put MM.. FOOD in there as well, but thought I was pushing it
'good list but missing hella underground stuff'
What saying, what recs you got?

03.18.21 | 'Props for the four owls, heavily underrated'
For sure, I fell off a little bit with UK Hip-Hop after my initially introduction, which would of been around the time I was in college (Task Force, Skinnyman, Roots Manuva etc) so actually missed Nature's Greatest Mystery at the time of release. But yeah a couple years later came across High Focus Records and it introduced me to it amongst many others. |

03.20.21 | You should check out Funcrusher Plus by Company Flow, and Nocturnal by Heltah Skeltah. Lots of good ones here for sure though. |

03.20.21 | Funcrusher Plus for sure. it's old El-P, which is the best El-P |
Nuchoking
03.22.21 | Thanks for the recs;
Vakill; Hadn’t realised at the time but already listened to The Darkest Cloud & Worst Fears Confirmed – The Later being my preferred album, wouldn’t say its my favourite stuff but easy enough to bop along to. JustJoe
Spaceghostpurp; As much as I vibe with this and enjoyed it, I personally struggle to consider this ‘top’ level Hip-Hop. Started with Larry Bird Season as recommended and there isn’t much going on lyrically for me, so as much as there is certainly a place for this and I really did enjoy it, I couldn’t consider it on the same level as others. Avagantamos
Children of the Corn; The Last Chapter - I think the best thing to have come out of this was Big L, interesting to hear this none the less though, as I wasn’t aware of the group and who featured in it. Keyblade
Dalek; Absence, is fire although and something I be sure to return back to, I need to be in the right frame of mind to listen to this but will continue to explore his back catalogue. Relinquished
Lojii; - I must have heard that Nipsey sample in about 3 or 4 different tracks now (patience – lo&behold). Loving this dude, this is just going straight in the rotation… reminds me a bit of MAXO.
Quakers; Completely forgot about that S/T album, absolutely cracking hadn’t realised they II – The Next Wave so going to get on that.
NOTOraps; Yeah like this, not sure but feel like I’ve heard a track before possibly Eleanor Suite, it sound familiar.
Jash
Stik Fia; Could tell straight away he was apart of Mellow Music it’s pretty nice… But Cold Central -Standard Time (prod L’Orange) that tracks fire. Combustion07
Tha Grimm Teachaz; Yep, just Yep!!!! Yep321 |

03.22.21 | "You should check out Funcrusher Plus by Company Flow, and Nocturnal by Heltah Skeltah. Lots of good ones here for sure though."
With out getting into the El-P debate that Avagantamos raises Funcrusher is a big omission on my part, albums killer.
Just checking out Heltah Skeltah, don't know what's up with not checking this out before, as I recognise that art work... might of been subconscious due to the name being similar to Helta Skelta, which is some stuff I have zero interest in. |

You got me, that's exactly what I did, its always refreshing to hear people speak like they know you. Also list isn't random, its alphabetical.
'kinda bored of stuff like this but i used to like slum village, quas, pete rock, and jeru a lot. dont rly listen to this kind of hip hop anymore though'
Thats cool @Ryus, don't get me wrong I've come full circle, all I was consuming was newer hiphop a few years back, and I've got a lot time for all sorts but when we talk about albums as a whole I'm still delving back into these.
'Tell us you’re white from the suburbs without using those words'
'Sput is wildly sleeping on griselda records too'
@ botb Seems on point! but not sleeping on them, do struggle to keep up with those releases sometimes though
'@nuchoking check chief keef'
@Ryus I have and I'm good thanks, think my introduction to him was in 'welcome to chiraq' some crappy noisey documentary back in 2014, but not really my thing thanks dude.

10.05.21 | 'Where's the Sole, Alias, Themselves, cLOUDDEAD, Deep Puddle Dynamics, WHY?, etc. Needs more Anticon love'
This is literally what I was listening to back in mid 2000's; Subtle, Sage Francis, 13 God and all the others mentioned, I can't remember if it was Eyedea's music that put me on to Anticon but I hear you just not something I listen to so much these days. But certainly still have appreciation for.
'Such a diverse and beautiful collection of Hip-Hop's best.'
Too kind, thanks. |

10.05.21 | aye cool list
ever jammed some more obscure Fondle 'Em records? shit like Cenobites or Siah and Yeshua DepoED?
also can't recommend Divine Styler - Spiral Walls Containing Autumns of Light enough |
Nuchoking
10.05.21 | 'Anticon fucking sucks where’s UGK and Three 6 Mafia?'
Each to their own. Super Tight and Ridin' Dirty come very close for me, so toss up between the two but had to stop somewhere and they didn't make it for me... not the biggest Three 6 Mafia fan but then again not checked them out in some time so maybe I'll revisit.
|
Nuchoking
10.05.21 | Dedex... thanks. I've listened to Cenobites for sure but not for some time. Siah and Yeshua DepoED I'm not familiar with, I'll check them out and see whats up.
I also know of Divine Styler but couldn't say anything more than that, if you recommend the album mentioned I'll start there.
Not really been listening to much hiphop of late, so nice to have some recs.

10.05.21 | I'm sure you've heard it but if I were to make a top hip hop list, Paris' Sleeping With The Enemy would be suuper high up on it. I mean, a lot more bay area hip hop would but that one in particular lol |
Nuchoking
10.05.21 | I like a civil discourse, I think a rarity to be found sometimes.
Hey Drifter, nice to see you back...I do like that album dude amongst some other Paris albums, and bay area hiphop is under represented I do appreciate it but not as much as you. |
