| Questionable "Classics"
Classic doesn't always mean high quality. | 1 | | Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast
Run to the Hills, Number of the Beast, and Hallowed Be Thy Name are irrefutable classics, but everything else is either forgettable or shit. Invaders’ chorus is hilariously bad,Total Eclipse is exceptionally forgettable, and Children of the Damned isn’t far behind. 22 Acacia Ave. and Prisoner are the only other two okay tracks, but I’ve never been a fan of either. Maiden has put out a plethora of superior albums, so the fact this one is regarded as their best troubles me. | 2 | | Testament Practice What You Preach
As much as I love the mix for PWYP, I can’t say I enjoy too many of the songs on here. Passable thrash with exceptional production. | 3 | | Black Sabbath Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
This is the only early Sabbath record that doesn't click for me. Not terrible, but Sabbra Cadabara and the title track are the only two songs that I can manage to remember regardless of how many times I’ve listened to it. | 4 | | Bathory Hammerheart
After the high octane intensity of Blood Fire Death, this slow, plodding behemoth falls short in almost every regard. As somebody who loves viking metal Bathory, I can easily say this is my least favorite of the bunch. Total snoozefest. | 5 | | Mr. Bungle Disco Volante
The debut may have been extremely eclectic when it came to genre fusion, but never once did it sound forced or pretentious. Sadly, Disco Volante is just that. Forced and pretentious. | 6 | | Ozzy Osbourne Bark at the Moon
While I stand behind my assessment that Jake E Lee was Ozzy’s best guitarist, even he couldn’t save this vanilla-ass record. The keyboards were a terrible new addition, and should have remained miles away from here. They don’t ruin the songs, but they sure as hell don’t make them any better. TItle track bumps though. | 7 | | Queensryche Empire
This album is a prime example of how NOT to follow up Operation Mindcrime. Compared to their work from the mid-90’s through the 2000’s this is a masterpiece; but comparing it to their previous 3 records this thing doesn’t even come close. Oh, and Silent Lucidity sucks a fat one. | 8 | | Iron Maiden Piece of Mind
Better than NOTB, but not by a whole lot. There is some brilliant material on here, but most of it is regulated to side one. On the other hand, side two has some of the worst filler the band has ever recorded. Quest for Fire is dogshit, Die With Your Boots on is obnoxiously repetitive, Sun and Steel is textbook useless padding and the 7 minute To Tame a Land is easily their worst epic of the 80’s. | 9 | | Slayer Reign in Blood
Yeah, I really don’t get the hype for this one. South of Heaven, Seasons, Hell Awaits and No Mercy are all far superior. It’s lucky that it has two amazing tracks bookending it. | 10 | | Megadeth Countdown to Extinction
How NOT to follow up Rust in Peace. Besides Ashes in Your Mouth, side two is utterly useless. | 11 | | Judas Priest British Steel
British Steel is a good Judas Priest record and nothing more. Let’s just say, if Priest never recorded Grinder, United, You Don’t Have to Be Old to Be Wise, and The Rage, nobody would give a single shit. | 12 | | Pantera Vulgar Display of Power
I can never shake the feeling that any post-Cowboys Pantera album was specifically engineered for mouth breathing edgelords who think using Axe body spray constitutes for a shower. The follow up is even worse, and is the crowning achievement of their unique brand of retard metal. | 13 | | Kreator Extreme Aggression
Oh it's aggressive, but that's about it. | |

11.24.20 | I would strongly disagree about 1, 8, 10, 11 and 12. 8 and 11 especially I have as 5-star records, though I appear to be the only person in the universe who likes Sun and Steel and United.
I need to revisit 5 but it used to be my least favourite Bungle.
Strongly agree about 9, never got the hype for it.
I can see a case being made for 3 (I like it.)
Haven't listened to the rest.
I'd make a case for Roots by Sepultura, which does have really memorable songs, but also really forgettable padding tracks, IV by Led Zeppelin - I and II are the real classics in my opinion - and Back In Black by AC/DC, which is very good but not an unquestionable classic like its predecessor. | Sinternet
11.24.20 | lol 4 is by far the best bathory record | el_newg
11.24.20 | the FUCK did you say about The Rage 😡 | JeremiahBullfrog
11.24.20 | nooo honestly put your head in a microwave for including 4 and 3 | wildinferno2010
11.24.20 | I agree with most of this, but 8 is one of my favourite maiden records. | kalkwiese
11.24.20 | Children of The Damned rules so hard.
Also where is Master of Puppets? That album is a snoozefest | Sabrutin
11.24.20 | Sure Empire is poppy but the songwriting is mostly total class (The Thin Line, Anybody Listening?, Della Brown, the intro and the solo section in One and Only, etc)
Damn SBS is a contender for my fav Sabbath
the FUCK did you say about The Rage 😡 [2] | JohnnyoftheWell
11.24.20 | disco volante slaps | JohnnyoftheWell
11.24.20 | apart from the bits that don't | kalkwiese
11.24.20 | Yea, Empire deserves all the praise it gets tbh | Tundra
11.24.20 | good list | Josh D.
11.24.20 | I've never heard anyone call half of these classic. | theacademy
11.24.20 | my dad announces all of these as classics every night at the dinner table before we eat | Josh D.
11.24.20 | He will be dealt with. | solrage
11.24.20 | I kinda agree with 1. I say "kinda" because I still think the "hits" are enough to make it a 4.5, but I do agree it isn't their best. Disagree strongly with 8, though. I actually really like "side 2" of Piece of Mind and think it's some of their most underrated 80s material. As for the rest, I think most of them are solid 4-4.5 albums that only suffer in comparison with the bands' better albums. | Senetrix666
11.24.20 | agreed. all these albums kinda suck besides bathory | aydross121
11.24.20 | I kinda agree with most of the list tbh.
Symphony of Destruction is so, so bad lol. | aydross121
11.24.20 | 3 is pretty cool though, not as memorable agree, but still a great one | JoyfulPlatypus
11.24.20 | 10 is pretty true. Megadeth has made SO much better. | ArsMoriendi
11.24.20 | Disagreed hard on 5
Vol. 4 is worse than SBS though so idk about 3 | Ryus
11.24.20 | 4 is the only classic here | aydross121
11.24.20 | but yeah agree hard on 10. They went from rust in peace to cock metal in the span of one album. | Casavir
11.24.20 | "the 7 minute To Tame a Land is easily their worst epic of the 80’s"
I don't get how you can think this when you have literally the entirety of Seventh Son to choose from for their worst '80s epics. | rockarollacola
11.24.20 | Not wrong, Seventh Son has some pretentious dogshit on it too. | Pikazilla
11.24.20 | that lame banana velvet underground album | Keyblade
11.24.20 | gotta agree on 1 tbh | Lord(e)Po)))ts
11.24.20 | I mean yeah these all suck | Ryus
11.24.20 | except four. | Colton
11.24.20 | I swear I saw this exact same list a few days ago | Ryus
11.24.20 | all lists are the same | Colton
11.24.20 | there's definitely some similarities | jagride
11.25.20 | this is like one of those lists from circa 2007 that gets bumped every now and then and all the commenters have names like hard_rocker87 and respectfully disagree with the choices | Ryus
11.25.20 | jagride ahrd | Keyblade
11.25.20 | lmao | rockarollacola
11.25.20 | all lists are the same

01.16.21 | A lot of sacrilege, back to school! | blakeguitarist2
08.05.21 | 6, 7, 9, 10, and 11 are very true, a couple artists’ albums I’d say instead:
Iron Maiden: Powerslave (I can agree with Piece of Mind as well)
Pantera: Far Beyond Driven
Metallica: Black Album/…And Justice for All
Nirvana: In Utero | evilford
08.05.21 | Children of the damned rules and so does 4 yea | Source
08.05.21 | my fav song on the album | sixdegrees
08.05.21 | I respectfully disagree with some of these choices |
