| Dream Theater Ranked
They are ranked in a way that I enjoy, you may not agree, but let's agree to disagree | 15 | | Dream Theater The Astonishing
A sin on the earth, cheese has struck down upon thee in the form of the NOMACs, lord nefarious is here with his cringe voice to tell people to not listen to music or something. Album is 34 songs, ain't nobody got time for that, barely any solos, ballads ad infinitum, faythe was not in the cards when they wrote this album.
Favorite Tracks: Moment of Betrayal I guess
0.5/5 | 14 | | Dream Theater Dream Theater
Self titled Dream Theater... meh... just a lot of boring and mid songs, ballads... The Enemy Inside is pretty catchy and the solo is pretty great, don't care about Looking Glass, Illumination Theory is an average epic, can barely remember it, same goes for the instrumental Enigma Machine tbh.
Favorite Tracks: The Enemy Inside, um...
2/5 | 13 | | Dream Theater When Dream and Day Unite
this is low, but it's not too bad, quite like the vocals, and songs are fun, just not one of the best, Ytse Jam is very fun.
Favorite Tracks: Ytse Jam, Afterlife, Status Seeker
3/5 | 12 | | Dream Theater Awake
don't get the hype of this one, tried getting into it multiple times, one thing I will say, solos on this are very good, Erotomania great instrumental, solo in Voices is fantastic. Space-Dye Vest does nothing for me, see people raving about the song a lot but every time when the song end I'm left saying, "that's it?"
Favorite Tracks: Erotomania, Voices, Scarred
3/5 | 11 | | Dream Theater A Change of Seasons
struggle to get through it, seems cheesy and about growing up and stuff I guess, it's alright I guess, not a personal fav.
Favorite Tracks: I guess the song huh
3/5 | 10 | | Dream Theater Distance Over Time
by the numbers Dream Theater album, seems formulaic, it doesn't interest me all that much, Fall into the Light has a beautiful bridge section, Paralyzed is catchy I guess, At Wit's End is probably the best song, not much of note other than that.
Favorite Tracks: Fall into the Light, Paralyzed, At Wit's End
3.5/5 | 9 | | Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory
Cheesy, good album and a nice concept, but it's very melodramatic and I don't enjoy it very much, only track that stands out to me is Home and maybe Beyond this Life, if this album was a cheese factory, it would be making bank though.
Favorite Tracks: Home, Dance of Eternity, Fatal Tragedy
3.5/5 | 8 | | Dream Theater Images and Words
Overhyped, hehe, good album, but not too fantastic, Pull me Under is the most basic DT song, boring at this point, album has good songs like Under a Glass Moon, Metropolis Part I, and Another Day with that beautiful sax opening and throughout, just not a personal favorite.
Favorite Tracks: Metropolis Part I, Under a Glass Moon, Pull Me Under
3.5/5 | 7 | | Dream Theater Octavarium
Title track can't carry the album, a lot of meh songs on Octavarium, Walk Beside You, These Walls... meh, Panic Attack, Root of all Evil are good, also Sacrificed suns is good, but those duds in the tracklist bring it down a lot.
Favorite Tracks: Panic Attack, Root of All Evil, Octavarium
3.5/5 | 6 | | Dream Theater Falling into Infinity
Really like the mix on this album, and all the songs are very good, live version of Hollow Years is stunning.
Favorite Tracks: Peruvian Skies, Lines in the Sand, Trial of Tears
4/5 | 5 | | Dream Theater Systematic Chaos
Solid album, has all of the ingrediants to a great Dream Theater album, big grand epic, catchy songs inbetween and good riffing, In Presence of Enemies is great, Ministry of Lost Souls is also, Dark Eternal Night one of their best songs.
Favorite Tracks: In the Presence of Enemies, Ministry of Lost Souls, Dark Eternal Night, Repentance
4.5/5 | 4 | | Dream Theater A Dramatic Turn of Events
Another beautiful sounding album, lush and bursting with vibrancy, multiple fantastic tracks on here and a really catchy album as well.
Favorite Tracks: Lost Not Forgotten, Bridges in the Sky, Breaking All Illusions
4.5/5 | 3 | | Dream Theater Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
Six Degrees has a nice mix between heavy and lighter Dream Theater, there is The Glass Prison and there is a Misunderstood, both very different tracks but equally great, also the Radiohead influence is quite apparent.
Favorite Tracks: The Glass Prison, Misunderstood, Six Degrees
4.5/5 | 2 | | Dream Theater Train of Thought
The heaviest Dream Theater album, as the guitar nerd that I am I love this album, the solos are bonkers. There isn't really a dud in the tracklist, Stream of Consciousness one of their best instrumental tracks of all time.
Favorite Tracks: Stream of Consciousness, In the Name of God, This Dying Soul
5/5 | 1 | | Dream Theater Black Clouds and Silver Linings
A great lush and beautiful album, packed to the brim with stunning soundscapes, yes, even Wither is great. The Best of Times has one of Petrucci's best guitar solo's of all time, and that's only the tip of the iceberg, A Nightmare to Remember, The Count of Tuscany, fantastic.
Favorite Tracks: The Best of Times, A Nightmare to Remember, The Count of Tuscany, The Shattered Fortress

10.24.20 | For context, I am a late Dream Theater fan, got into them around when The Astonishing came out, so that might be why I don't have as much of an attachment towards some of the older albums, so keep that in mind | Kompys2000
10.24.20 | Idgaf about this band but you correctly ranked 6DoIT over Metropolis Pt. 2 so bravo for that | el_newg
10.24.20 | woah this is a crazy ranking :O | kalkwiese
10.24.20 | Wtf did I just read?!
But Black Cocks and Silver Lingerie is indeed a fantastic album.
Still Systematic Chaos over Images, Awake and Scenes?! Crazy man, I can't tell whether this stupid or brave or trolling. | Kompys2000
10.24.20 | Wait hold on I didn't notice Train of Thot at number 2, yeah this ranking is whack but still props for going outside the box | kalkwiese
10.24.20 | [2] | wildinferno2010
10.24.20 | Black Clouds was probably one of my favourite DT albums too once, but then I realised that half the tracklist is pretty boring.
"props for going outside the box"

10.24.20 | Absolutely terrible ranking, but props for it being radically different. At least 15 is 15 and we can all agree on that IMO | Djang0
10.24.20 | I’ve been meaning to do a DT ranking, safe to say I vehemently disagree with most of this list but props for being different (2) | Pikazilla
10.24.20 | Train of thot is hot garbage | kalkwiese
10.24.20 | Ranking is based as fuck | ChoccyPhilly
10.24.20 | Interesting having ToT so high up but I rate it highly and is my #3.

10.24.20 | 3/5 is still a good score, I dont hate it or anything, it is a good song, just not a personal fav | ChoccyPhilly
10.24.20 | Octavarium (song) >>>>> ACOS
There's a chunk of the song which meanders which makes listening to it a bit of a chore imo | JDubb
10.24.20 | Switch 4 and 7, and this is my top 5. But note that I became a DT fan in the 2000’s, so some of the early 99’s albums are lost on me. | TheAntichrist
10.24.20 | 12 is 1 | kalkwiese
10.24.20 | 12, 11, 9 and 8 are all 1 tbh | YRI
10.24.20 | Rankings and ratings are horrible so props to you. | Tundra
10.24.20 | words shalt not falter thee, O' heathen, hold thy ground, for thou, I know what must be done | TabulaRasa6
01.27.22 | I'm actually not mad about the top three, but the rest of the order is pretty whack. |
