TheSupernatural
09.09.20 | A lot of these are great/classics but also skewed a little older. I figured I'd recommend a few of my favorites from the last couple of years if you'd like to check the current state of the genre too. A lot of similar motifs although the production has gotten a lot better:
Circa Survive - The Amulet
Polaris - The Death of Me
Gatherers - We Are Alive Beyond Repair
O'Brother - Endless Light (if you only hear one of these, let it be this one)
Microwave - Death is a Warm Blanket |
TheSupernatural
09.09.20 | Also, other classic essentials in case you haven't heard them:
Thursday - Full Collapse
Thursday - War All the Time
Finch - What It Is to Burn (more guilty pleasure album but you gotta hear it)
Senses Fail - Let It Enfold You
Letlive - Fake History
Thrice - Alchemy Index 1 & 2: Fire & Water |
bloodshy

DiscoveringAxiom
09.09.20 | Uzumaki: All these albums came from your list so, all props go to you.
TheSupernatural: Thanks for all the rec. Seems like I'll be in post hardcore for while.
JohnnyoftheWell: Thanks for these; bands there I'm not familiar with. |
SaveBandit
09.09.20 | It's hard to talk about Post-Hardcore and not bring up Saosin. |
Aberf
09.09.20 | Typical Johnny slipping some weeb material. |
MillionDead
09.09.20 | @Johnny: lol I fuck with Number Girl too. Solid ass band. Btw I love the Unsane rec. NOBODY talks about them and they are just brutal as all shit.
It's crazy to see such disparate sounds on a list but post-hardcore is such an insanely wide umbrella term. I tend to enjoy more of the older, punker stuff though. A lot of new bands don't do it for me unless they're reviving 80's and 90's sounds, which barely ever happens. |
Calc
09.09.20 | try joliette- principia |
SaveBandit
09.09.20 | Here's a few of my favorite post-hardcore albums/artists. More modern stuff though, like MillionDead said there are so many older punkier sounding bands that fall into this overarching genre.
Saosin - Translating The Name
Ghost Atlas - All is in Sync
Hail The Sun - Wake
Thousand Below - The Love You Let Too Close
Tides Of Man - Dreamhouse |
TheSupernatural
09.10.20 | Hell yeah if you don't mind the Spanish (or if you understand some of it like me), Principia was one of my favorite albums of the decade. |
DiscoveringAxiom
09.10.20 | TheSupernatural: Language barriers don't stop me. Love what I've heard from Envy in the past. |
