04.06.20 | check out les valseuses, super cool film. also danton if you like period pieces
as much as i love france and horror movies, i'm somehow not big on french horror. don't think i have a favorite, really. let's see.. i loved RAW and la nuit a dévoré le monde. idk if possession is a french film? maybe german? but it's amazing. but it's also spoken in english, so. |

04.06.20 | Possession is Polish btw, but it's Zuwalski's first film in English |
BAT
04.06.20 | lmao i'm surprised someone else has seen Calvaire |
TVC15
04.07.20 | ^I have but think it sucks. It tries to be Texas Chain Saw Massacre and fails hard. The director improved vastly when he made Alleluia. I've seen most cannon French Extremity films but it's overall hit or miss for me (but I'm also a hard grader when it comes to movies so what do I know lol) |
budgie
04.07.20 | man i hated society |
Minushuman24
04.07.20 | whaaaat why, society rules |
budgie
04.07.20 | no idea, i have a lot of love for all those fun 80s films: the blob, night of the creeps, return of the living dead, killer klowns, fright night, vamp, etc, but society just ugh idk, hated it |
TVC15
04.07.20 | Y'all need some Videodrome (and Tetsuo: The Iron Man) in your lives if you haven't seen it yet |
budgie
04.07.20 | btw TVC possession is a french-german co-production film according to IMDB |
GhandhiLion
04.07.20 | I hate society too... living in it. |
GhandhiLion
04.07.20 | Thumbs up for videodrome and Tetsuo |
Minushuman24
04.07.20 | Aw man, I'm so sad to see the hate for Society :'C but oh well.
Tetsuo The Iron Man is an actual masterpiece |
BAT
04.07.20 | on topic of 80s i finally saw 'intruder' and it was actually a lotta fun, fairly gory too.
tetsuo rules shoutout to that one billy idol video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lx2fZU5USus) and that psyopus rip off.
videodromes great but not really my favorite cronenberg, check out shivers if you haven't
alsoooo clickin on the sputnik logo redirected me to 'ShagFuck' |

04.07.20 | @Budgie oh ok, I was just going by the director being Polish and the Polish government screwing with the release of most of his films (most notoriously On the Silver Globe which ended up being released unfinished almost a decade later from when it was filmed due to hardcore censorship). But that makes a lot of sense given Isabelle Adjani is French and the film takes place near the Berlin Wall.
Cronenberg seems a bit hit or miss for me from what I've seen tbh. How does Shivers compare? I'm not familiar with that one. |
BAT
04.07.20 | it's like his first proper horror flick, he tricked the Canadian government into funding a fucked up movie about a parasitic sex-zombie apocalypse. compared to videodrome its very rudimentary but cronenbergs touch is on full display, i'd say shivers is better than rabid/the brood but its def a bit more film schooly. its kinda like his take on notld |
TVC15
04.07.20 | Oooh so it was 70's Cronenberg, got it. I'll def give it a chance, especially if you think it's better than Rabid and The Brood |
