garas 01.01.20	Alright, I think I have one. I'm not 100% if it is really the very best song of the previous decade, but it was extremly hard to choose one... The song is: "The Second Baptism... Shores in Fire and Ice" by Evilfeast https://youtu.be/msDebYHSYsc I still got the goosebumps when I listen to this one. The perfect mixture of my two most beloved genres: black metal and dungeon synth, just in one song. Sorry for the length (12 mins), but who appreciates this type of music will still find it way too short, hahaha! I'm amazed by the fact this is a one-man band... incredible!

Uzumaki 01.01.20	Let’s go with: ††† (Crosses) - Bitches Brew Even though I can’t even begin to choose a favorite song of the decade for myself, I feel like this song, and really this album, to be representative of my shifting preferences through the decade, in that while I maintained an affinity for rock/metal/heavier music, I still made more than enough time to satiate my growing interests in electronic/ambient/alternative music.

Minushuman24 01.02.20	After much thought about what I'd consider the best of the decade, I think I figured it out. It may not be my favorite, but I truly think it is an absolute masterpiece. Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst - Kendrick Lamar (2012) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3CnfFQENkw I recently burned through 50 important albums of the decade that I had not rated, 5 per year, and this album stood out as the best among all of them. It was even better than I remembered it being, though this song was always my favorite. It is sublime.

My pick is Antigone Rising - "My Town" from the Whiskey & Wine Vol. 2 EP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-aCR06clh4 I told you last month that I considered the Nightwish track I rec'd to be the most exciting piece of music from the last decade, and I do. This song is my Song of the Decade for the 2010s, though, based on its simple beauty. I do like music about how life sucks. But this song is about how it doesn't when people get it right.

Having said that: Apologies, I Have None - 3.0 - Not bad. I like the anger. Jerry Paper - 2.8 - Kind of slow and kitschy.

"she told me that she fucked him and I thought I can't believe this, did she not know that I loved her? I'm going to smash this bitches face in find the cunt and stab the fucker Someone's going to die for this tonight" But then he redeems himself, "But you know that it's not right to punish her when you couldn't ever say that you never did play your part you never did shit that you shouldn't that you never did things that you said that you wouldn't you never said shit that you wish that you hadn't now" Then the final chorus kicks in, and we are back to musical bliss. So good.

Scheumke 01.03.20	Alright I made my choice, but damn was it difficult. In the end I chose the one I had the most emotional connection to, instead of choosing something with more technical or songwriting prowess: The Dear Hunter - A Beginning https://youtu.be/Bwviv89OJPc It's completely out of context which might make it more difficult to appreciate on its own. It's the culmination of a five album story in which the protagonist dies in this song (we think, it's left kinda vague). It uses a myriad of themes from the different albums bringing the story to a very nice full-circle-esque close. That final piano melody ties so much of the story together it never fails to take my breath away.

Divaman 01.04.20	Agnes Obel - 3.7 - This one is compelling. I can definitely see it growing on me. Wasn't familiar with her before, but I'll definitely check out more of her stuff. Evilfeast - 2.8 - Not my thing, but not bad. You guys know how I feel about the dirty vocals, but there are some worthwhile things here.

I don't like how the bass was mixed well for only like 2 seconds, it seemed like it could've been mixed that way for the whole song. 1.9/5 "Familiar" Pretty so far! Simple instrumentation so far... ooh cello! I like the weird vocal effects actually, it works well. I wanted way more from this than what I got, but I still like d it. 3.7/5 "The Second Baptism... Shores in Fire and Ice" Epic opening, sure. Moody, slow piano, right. Now it's just thrashy extreme metal with scary black metal growling. How could I give this a positive score? It's so long and boring and metally. 2.3/5

Scheumke 01.06.20	"By the way, how do you pronounce your username?" Good question and quite a difficult one because it uses sounds not used in the English language but I'll try to explain. The 'SCH' is pronounced like 'SG', like in 'Scheveningen' (look it up for the correct pronouncement), not like the English pronouncement of 'School'. The 'EU' gets a little more interesting, because the way I pronounce it is actually in a southern Dutch dialect called 'Brabants'. In typical Dutch its a sound that doesn't exist in the English language, but I pronounce it as a 'u' as in 'hut' or 'hurry'. The 'MK' is pronounced as normal The final 'E' is pronounced the same as the 'EU', so as a 'u' in 'hut', so not as Scheumkie/Scheumkee. Normally this wouldn't be pronounced the same, but since my 'EU' is in dialect it actually becomes the same.

Scheumke 01.06.20	That would be the English way to pronounce it yes. I think most people would pronounce it that way. I don't really mind how people pronounce it though, but if you ask than that's the way it's supposed to. It comes from the dutch word 'schuimpje', which is a dutch sweet, kinda like meringue. In our dialect (and in our group of friends) it became a scheumke, which we also used to call each other after a particularly dumb or silly act. I guess I was the one making the most of those so it kinda became my nickname haha.

I especially liked the cool synths, and the distorted bass, and not to forget to mention that: the vocals sound perfect in this song. A solid 3.6 (Oh, and my gf says thanks because she loved it!)

I like the way their singer catches himself after losing his shit midway. 3.4 2. Jerry Paper - Ginger and Ruth: Short and sweet psych pop, nice! I vibed to this; stuff like this tends to be fun in the moment but doesn't stick with me that long, will be curious to see if it's still on my mind in a couple of days 3.7 3. Agnes Obel - Familiar: Why didn't I check this earlier? Hmm, what is this - baroque pop? Lovely arrangement and production, this kinda makes me think of what Have You In My Wilderness might have been if it wasn't frigid as hell. Should probs get on the album 3.8 4. Evilfeast - The Second Baptism... Shores in Fire and Ice: This was much better than I expected (no offence garas ;]). The first three minutes are the kind of thing that would usually make me think of the word 'epic' in prominent quotation marks, but it kinda works here. As for the rest...I can't remember the last time a bm song held my interest for 12 minutes. 3.7 6. Crosses - Bitches Brew: I don't love these vocals or this production (feels a little cookie cutter 'alternative' to me), but the writing's on point. The chorus really kicks off, though I wasn't as gripped after the first iteration. Also, where the fuck did those last 10 seconds come from? 3.2 7. Massive Attack - Paradise Circus: Pots picks a track and it isn't Old Dreams Waiting To Be Realised? 0/10, huge bait opportunity missed. Was half hoping this would be from Tomorrow In A Day to prod me into finally checking it, but weirdly Heligoland has been the only Massive Attack off my radar for quite a while. What are the odds. This sound seems like a step up from 100th Window, but they've done better imo (the Hope Sandoval track they've done since comes to mind). Plus 0.2 points for that outro 3.6 8. Destroyer - Chinatown: Yessssss this album. Would have gone for Kara Walker, Bay of Pigs or maybe Blue Eyes but this song is exquisite and I love it a lot 4.5

Uzumaki 01.08.20	Apologies, I Have None - 3.1 not a bad track, I liked the bounce and flow of the track, also the tone and productions style feels raw, which lends to the immediacy of the lyrics. Not bad at all. Jerry Paper - 2.5 I honestly really didn’t care for this one too much; I appreciated the throwback, psychedelic style they had going, but that’s pretty much it. This style is kinda hit or miss for me. Agnes Obel - 4.8 Oh my, this is beautiful. So melancholic in its tone and sense of restraint, I loved how it complemented the lyrics. If this is an indicator of her brand of music, even if there’s light variation, I may have to check her body of work out ASAP.
Divaman 01.08.20	Destroyer - 3.4 - Pretty chill. Not sure I like all the little bits of distortion or the jazz brass, but otherwise it's a decent track.

Trifolium 01.08.20	Yesssss Uzumaki! And it is, her first two are less electronic and more quiet but totally gorgeous, Citizen of Glass is very much like this track. The new one is shaping up to be close to this in sound too, two singles have been released so far.
Scheumke 01.08.20	The 26 – There are parts here that I really connected with (especially the aggressive mid-section through the redemption part right afterward) and the outro was cool. Other parts, mostly in the first half, do very little to me though. I’m not a big fan of slightly off-key, almost spoken word lyrics, but that’s just preference, because I can completely understand that a story this personal just works best that way. 3.2 Ginger and Ruth – Started out a little weird, as in I had no idea what to expect going further, but then that chorus comes in and it’s all flowers and happy days out in nature. Yeah it does paint a vivid picture and I think it might even be one where it’ll paint a different picture for different people. It’s nice and brief but even with all that, it doesn’t really stick with me. 3.4 Familiar – Yeah this is my kinda song. Mixing is really up close and a little intense but it doesn’t go overboard with the strings, a restraint which really works to its benefit. The female/male duality also works really well. 4.0 The Second Baptism… Shores in Fire and Ice – Atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere. I completely get why you love it garas. There’s enough interesting hooks in here for me to keep my attention. Maybe I need to listen to this stuff more. The synths give it a real 90’s black-metal vibe and the production is better than a lot of records from that era. Quite impressive that this is a one-man-band. 3.9
Scheumke 01.08.20	Saishuu Koen – Johnny you got me into this chick, but why do you always recommend songs from this album, the only one not on Spotify. Drives me mad haha. That said, there’s a couple of things with this song I’m a little ambivalent about. Like some guitar notes not coming out just right, or the vocals almost distorting because she is singing too loud too close the mic. Dunno if sloppy or genius, might be both. It’s pure though, I’ll give you that. Sorry to say though, in the end this song does little to me. 3.0 Bitches Brew – Wow this is really different, and quite interesting. Pretty catchy tune, both the verses and the chorus really stick with me. The guy has a great voice which is a big plus for me. I love how he shows quite a couple of different facets of his voice in this song alone. I don’t yet know if this is something really special to me or just a novelty done right. Really enjoyed the song though. 3.8 Paradise Circus – I need to listen to Massive Attack more. It’s something I say to myself every time I listen to these guys. Hadn’t heard this one before but it got me in a trance like they usually do. Really well constructed song. This is how you do ‘less is more’ right. Owh god yes that ending is fantastic, building on it more and more to a real climax. I didn’t expect that. 4.3 Chinatown – That intro triggers a feeling of nostalgia for me, don’t ask me why. Though the lyrical content might be quite heavy (even after reading the lyrics I can’t quite decide if it’s meant heavy or more carefree) the song itself is quite upbeat and gets me in a good mood. I like it, might listen more to this guy. 3.7 And there we are, all caught up.

ArsMoriendi 01.10.20	"Chinatown" I don't like the vocals at all. They feel very limp. The guitar, strings, and synths all sound nice together though. Unexpected female vocals improve this song tenfold. And the sax is cool too. It's very modern. It's kinda like "modern easy listening." I bet my Dad would like this. He tends to like really limp radio-friendly acoustic indie stuff. I caught him listening to Mumford and Sons once and he likes The Lumineeers. Overall, this was fine enough. 3/5 "Sing About Me, I'm Dying Of Thirst" Nice loungy jazz vibe. Hip hop is a weird spot for me. The way his voice fades out 4 minutes in is really unique though. The singing is choppy and nasal, but that seems intentional and it works, so I don't mind it. OH he changed it up, the percussion in the 2nd half is cool and the female backups are cool too. It feels like it went from intense to chill. Man, I can appreciate plenty of things about it, but 12 mins of a genre I'm not super used to is still kinda exhausting. +.1 for meaningful lyrics. 3.4/5 "My Town" Harmless country music. The kind that makes people look dumb when they say "all country sucks," but also the kind that gives me no impression. 2.8/5

This wasn't a standout last time, but it holds up decently. Prefer the latter half by a considerable margin 3.5 10. My Town - Agree with Ars' take on this entirely. Wholesome, competent and completely forgettable. 2.8 11. A Beginning - I'm a fan of these albums but was never sold on this outside of its role as a conclusion; it's not a standalone highlight imo. I guess this puts the series to rest well enough, especially after the fantastic run of songs that precedes it, but this project has better reflection/summation tracks (Abandon!) and it takes four minutes to kick off 3.2 12. Bicep - Vaguely enjoyed this but had a strong deja entendu vibe the whole way through 3.0 13. Jolly Fucker - zak do you manage these guys 2.9 14. Dazzling Dreams - Now we're talking. Superficial is the right word for this, but it hits its stride big time. I'm feeling it. 3.7

This is a nice little fun track, but it doesn't even come close to Sat in Vicky Park or Raging Through the Thick and Heavy Darkness of a Bloodlust. 3.4 2. Ginger & Ruth - Jerry Paper - This is every so slightly off, I like it. Very Ars. I can see this being a grower in the future. 3.6 3. Familiar - Agnes Obel - I love her voice, the guy's not so much. But every thing else in this song is stunning--I can overlook that. 3.8 4. The Second Coming - Evilfeast - this is certainly a black metal song 2.9 5. The Gathering - 3.3 - Starts kind of slow and mysterious, with female vocalist. It's a long one, but off to a good start. Fair to Midland - 3.1 - Kind of somber, with some piano, then explodes a bit before settling in. Works for me. Absu - 2.1 - Heavy with dirty vocals. Not my thing at all. La Dispute - 2.2 - Kind of screamed vocals, and a little disjointed Again, not my thing.

These type of vocals always kill any song for me... 2.0 "I AM" - Way too modern for my taste, and the vocals are totally not my cup of tea. Talented band, though. 2.9 "Those who can't, cheat" - Honestly, the videoclip was better than the song itself because it made me laugh. 2.2 "Heroes For Ghosts" - Clearly overlong, and in some parts I felt the song just doesn't go anywhere. 2.5 "Musical Chairs" - Was this really released in '11? Because it sounded totally like something from the early 2000s. The bass line is mad, I liked it. 3.0 "Ontologically, It Became Time & Space" - Now we are talking. The guitars are too quiet (and the drums too loud) in the mix, imo, I wanted to hear those sick and fast riffs more. I'm more into a slower tempo in BM, but I liked this one too. 3.6 "King Park" - And the vocals ruined the whole thing again... 1.5

Bicep - TR/ST - The longer this went on, the more I enjoyed this. This is just good fun. 3.4 13. JollyFucker - Sleaford Mods - Well this is british as fuck. It is also ugly and weird. But there's something I really really like about it. I don't really know what tho. 3.5 14. Dazzling Dreams - Mode Moderne - This sounds like so many other modern post-punk songs. Good thing I'm a sucker for that stuff. I don't know if it will ever stand out from the crowd for me, but I'll definitely add it to a playlist here and there. 3.4 15. The Chuckler - Protomartyr - This band consistently falls off my radar. It's a nice rambly song, just sort of pleasant. 3.3 16. I Am - Theocracy - This album cover gives me hope. The Run time doesn't help either. This seems more prog than I expected. I can't tell if I don't mind the singer or hate his voice. Oh there we go, there's those highs ehhhh. The I am Verses are getting a bit much... I guess they're better than the chorus. Yeah this is kinda lame. The ship has sailed on this kind of music for me about a ten years ago. Lantlos - 2.4 - Another one that's kind of slow and monotonous. OK, it changed up some about 5 minutes in. Oh good God, that vocal! I love you when you give me dream pop, budge. Not so much when you venture into the heavier stuff. Just for the hell of it ... Why Bonnie - 3.2 - much more my style. Melody. Someone who can sing. Upbeat strummed guitar instead of slow, dreary, distorted guitar. Not sure which track would score higher with the others, but this one definitely scores higher with me.

I'm going to check this album. 3.8 The Second Baptism... Shores In Fire And Ice: The synths are a little much, but those guitars are nice. Vox are cool too. And it is quite punchy. Overlong, yes, but enjoyable! 3.2 Saishuu Koen: Finally, the time has come to check this Johnny mainstay. She doesn't disappoint, although it is a little too much for me maybe. Her voice reminds me of someone. It's very expressive! Perhaps she's got a hint of Sinaed O'Connor or something? Those drums are totally incredible, and the guitars are played with so much ferocity. Ok I dig this now. Love how she's not at all afraid to go all out en display that crazy amount of feels. Rules. Love it. 4.0 Bitches Brew: Ha, no Miles Davis of course. I like the moodiness of this. Drums sound good. Interesting instrumental choices. This fat chorus would have appealed to me immensely during my teens. Still enjoy this. 3.5
Trifolium 01.25.20	Paradise Circus: Lovely track of course. I never really listen to Heligoland anymore, but every time I do I love it immensely. 4.8 Chinatown: This was nice. Had some great potential, don't feel it lived up to its promise in the end. But there was some good stuff going on for sure (instrumentally, layers, etc.). 3.0 Sing About Me, I'm Dying Of Thirst: I've never consciously heard a Kendrick track before. Is that weird? Well, now I have. Did I enjoy it? Kind of. It's nice, like the jazziness, but his delivery is not really for me. Plus it's a little too bossa nova in cruise ship hallways-esque vibe-wise for me. And the vox in the chorus are icky. Oh and it's tooooo looooong. 2.7 My Town: A very radio-friendly feelsy track,. You'd sing along in the pub with your mates if you knew the words. 2.5 A Beginning: The problem with these guys is the vocalist and the incredible sense of bombast. I guess they're just not for me. A fun thing that manages to not be annoying (despite that bass in the verse). +0.5 for song length. 3.9/5 King Park - Such serious 'core feels are incompatible with me. Yay a detailed story about a kid being shot. How do you listen to this more than once? Oh FUCK it's 7 minutes. I just saw that now while waiting for the awesome breakdown that better be coming soon. Spoiler alert: It never does. And no, you're going to Hell, you fucking moron. 2.2/5 Zeitgeist - A new BS song? In SOTD? This seems wrong. Not too bad, kind of Planet Caravan-ish. 3/5

I get nothing out of this style of music. 2/5 "King Park" Wow, those vocals are awful. The riff is fine I guess, but wow those vocals are worse than the last song. Whose horrible idea was it to mix screaming and crying together? This slow guitar part is okay. Oh no, the vocals are back and SOOOO serious. This song makes me hate music. 1/5 "Zeitgeist" I've heard this album before! Oh no wait, it's the Planet Caravan ripoff! This song is so underwhelming because it's so similar to Planet Caravan, yet it has all of the cool aesthetic taken away to make it different I guess? And by different, I suppose I mean boring. Without comparing it to previous songs though, it's still simple and pleasant to the ears and I like the effect on his voice and that guitar solo. 3.3/5 "Never Dead" This is so warm and tender. Oh no, the vocals during the chorus killed it. Someone tell Tom Waits to never make post-hardcore music. I like that organ though. Musically this is actually really good. -.5 for terrible growl vocals. 3.6/5 "A Private Understanding" Jarring, but in a cool way. This got boring after the ditched the jarring part. 3.2/5 "Made Of Paper" This is pretty. I like the jangly guitar and the windy atmosphere of it all. Simple stuff, but in a good way. 3.8/5 "Goonvibe" Okay, so there's a chiptune beat. Trap snares and blaring bass too. Yup, this is some sort of trap or whatever. Sach's taste might not be my thing, but at least there's no guttural screaming or cry screaming crap all over it. 2.5/5

She's still good but this tune does sound like 'pension/financial investment advert trying to be hip' sort of vibe, bit polite n' plinky plonky. It's good, whatever[4/5] 4. 'Second Baptism' - pretty good, is it wrong that I find this style of metal quite 'sweet' now. To me this isn't heavy or threatening anymore, it's the keyboards I think and the choral backing vox, and the whole thing sounds like a tribute at this stage. It's very 'token goth in the print room' for IT Crowd fans. Think I'm saying this is well trod ground, as familiar as your oldest black t-shirt. [3.5/5]

'Bitches Brew' - sounds a bit like butt alt rock Chino worship, some of the atmospheric touches are alright, some nice tones (def tones hur hur?). No, sadly this is build and release cheese I'm just not feeling. 15 year old me prob would have tolerated it, if not quite have managed to actively like it, because even within the genre it is quite ropey. 'Sing About Me' - I've got to this weird stage with Kendrick where I think he sings a bit like a frog, Kermit Lamar or Kendrick the Frog. Miss Piggy screaming "Kendrieeeee". The rapping is ok it's just the singing is a bit muppet-y. Not my favourite tune on Good Kid, but it's still solid, and this is my favourite 'Kendrick period', nice jazzy vibe [4/5]

'My Town' - this is the musical equivalent of an American afternoon 'feel good' movie which is both super glossy yet still gives the impression it had a recording budget of about 70 cents. Lashings, and I mean lashings and lashings, of gooey cheese. One of the key changes nearly made me choke on pure aural over-sugary over-sweetness [2/5] 11. 'A Beginning' - "industrial strength over earnestness and indie preciousness incoming, brace for impact!" As many times as I listen to the Dear Hunter (the shit name alike band of Deerhunter, how upsetting a state of affairs) I forget to issue myself that warning. I always tell myself they'll be good, it won't be a pompous gloop of naff 'over emoting show tune vocals' whiff-waft this time, this will be the good Dear Hunter stuff. No, it's all the same mediocre turd-core [2.5/5]

'Bicep' - I quite like the cut of this freak's jib, but a classic example of me wanting this to be better than it is...but it's just not as good as I want it to be, however much I'm actively wishing it to be amazing. It simply isn't. It sounds a bit like an average Depeche Mode instrumental as interpreted by Crystal Castles with some apologetic kinda cool vocals over it all. 'Musical Chairs' - generic emo-y/theatrical/over emoting (again) indie-y sounds mixed with the incredible (it says here) genre-mash rockist sensibilities of bands like (shoot me) The Mars Volta. Slightly strained/sometime breathy american gal fronted vaguely slacker indie rock. It's sort of in my ballpark but also a bit skippable, maybe partly due to over saturation. Heroes and Ghosts - The Gathering - for as much as I feel like I shit on prog, I have liked every single song by The Gathering. Her voice is just very pleasant. Musical Chairs - Fair to Midland - Oh this is prog as shit. That bass is incredible though. This chorus reminds me of mid 2000's wrestling video games though. This guy's melodramatic vocals are kinda doing it for me, those goofy riffs and licks in the arrangement would be a mess otherwise. Gonna have to investigate this further. 18. Heroes For Ghosts - Partisan insta5. Not my favourite Gathering song, but probably somewhere in the top 20 or so. These guys are better than your favourite band. That atmosphere is gorgeous. 5 19. Musical Chairs - Never really got into this album, and this track wasn't a highlight when I was jamming it but it holds up okay. The bass in the verses is strong stuff. This band are much more photogenic than I expected. 3.3 20. Ontologically, It Became Time & Space - Vicious riffs recorded through a potato with the mids carved out. This kinda rips. Getting a rush here. 3.7 21. King Park - "How do you listen to this more than once? " was actually my reaction the first time I heard this (and the subsequent six, according to my iTunes). Listening again and hmm yes this still has it. Gonna subtract a steep 0.1 because the midway lull loses me. Can see the vox wearing people out, but this no excuse. If you give this less than a 2.5 you have no sensitivity to pathos or narrative in music :] 4.9 22. Zeitgeist - Sexy. The flange is a bit much (a surprisingly immature production choice for Sabbath tbh). Is this stream faulty? Otherwise alright 3.3

Hmm, either their sound has grown on me since the last one or this sounds uncommonly like Paper Cut Exit by Sonic Youth (which I rate quite a bit). I think I get them better either way. The bridge got under my skin and gave me chills. Maybe I should hear this album... 3.7 25. Made Of Paper - Fuck you budgie this is v good. Vocalist reminds me of Feist, esp in her early days Broken Social Scene features. Lazy rock vibes yes yes 3.8 26. Goonvibe - lol "classical" 0.4 27. Trouble In Town - This is one of four tracks from this album that I didn't delete from my library. Let's see how it's doing now. Chris Martin attempting political lyrics still sounds facile af. This man is the embodiment of unhelpful quaintness. The arrangement and dynamics are on point though, good work from team Coldplay. And then there's that abusive police sample. I wrote a chunk in my rev on whether or not this counts as a cheap score for the woke kids (am overall mixed) and these misgivings apply here 3.3

Young Fathers - Didn't think I was into this for the first minute but then I remembered I was kinda drunk and involuntarily danced to it for a couple of bars. Would probably be a 3 if I were sober but imma bump to 3.5 for the reason alone 30. Invented - Rowan I love you and I guess I see the appeal here, but this song also embodies everything I find kinda lame about this band. Play-crack-the-sky-core with fewer problematic platform issues. +0.5 for overdrive and uplifting vocal harmonies 2.9 31. Nine Stories - This used to be my mwY and maybe possibly still is. I'm a stan for these guys and have got the lyrics under my skin at this time - the depressed walrus character and the bleakest af Jacob's ladder reference get me every time. And the horns. And that meter shift halfway. So good. 5

Trifolium 02.02.20	Bicep: Very Depeche Mode, I like it but at the same time it's a little bit too much. Not bad though! 3.0 Jollyfucker: Bass line and beat are good. Vox are very very very you know. Does get the blood pumping. Reminds me of The Prodigy in a way. Actually enjoyed it. Most of it. 2.8 Dazzling Dreams: Nicely old school sounding again. Fun track, high energy. 3.0 The Chuckler: Lovely guitars, very MBV. Vox are a bit flat. Love how the drums repeat this pattern, trance inducing and that way the other layers changing makes for a nice contrast. 3.2 I Am: Can't deal with the medieval synths and the singing. Perhaps I'd dig this ten years ago. Guitars are actually nice sometimes, but the mix and master is so flat and plastic. 2.0
Trifolium 02.02.20	Those Who Can't, Cheat: Why did I have to sign in to confirm my age for this?! It's nice, much going on but everything clearly placed in the mix. It's very weird but lovely. Diverse. Something else. 3.4 Heroes For Ghosts: The Gathering are one of my favourite bands. Of course this is mainly because of the Anneke-years. Silje's voice has always been a little boring to me sadly. This causes me to almost never be in the mood for newer The Gathering. Luckily the music's still awesome. 4.0 Musical Chairs: Love how triumphant this gets sometimes! Weird track, but I dig it. Nice contrast, fun, energetic and short. 3.3 Onthologically, It Became Time & Space: There we go Egarran. Finally listening to Absu. This is cool! Love the speed, the riffs, the drum tone, the vox are cool too. Never really expected me to dig them to be honest, as you know I'm not the biggest DM fan, but this was enjoyable! 3.6 King Park: Speaking of 'never thought I'd enjoy this', I kind of liked this. Clearly expressed emotions in here. Production is fine. Drumming is tight. It's too long, or is it? Those vox are a little too much, and the lyrics aren't for me. But then again, I did enjoy this. This track confuses me. 3.0

Yeah this is cool, the vibe is great. 4.0 Never Dead: Singing is too sugary for me in the cleans, the chorus is too over the top-sing along. Some fun parts too, so it's not all bad. 2.2 A Private Understanding: There are cool bits here. It's a little long, but the guitar tone is nice. The message is kind of clear after 20,000 times though. Yeah ok, you're just trying to reach this person. We get it. 2.7 Made Of Paper: Nice track of course. Love the drums and the bass. Colourful melody. 4.0 GoonVibe: Yeah ok. 1.2

Loved all of their output up to and including Mylo Xyloto, but their last few are not for me. That ending was totally unnecessary too. 2.5 Getting Sodas: Like the 90s sounding alternative parts here. Vox aren't really my thing, and the drum sound is juuuuust on the right side of wrong, but this is cool overal. Oh wait, there's a sad cello part. I don't dig that. That's one of my pet peeves. EEEW. Pity. And also this takes too long. Yeah no, this should have ended halfway in. 2.2 Young Faters: Percussion is cool. Stop-start nature. The banjo-y and fiddle-y pub nature of this is not something I really enjoy. But it's nicely positive, sunny, and weird! It's cool. 3.2 Inverted: Not bad! The middle section was unnecessary though. 2.9 9 Stories: Never liked any mewithoutYou yet. Horrid name, very annoying voice. This is no exception. Sounds like James Blunt's rockier brother.
