12.29.19 | Never played the games after 4, worth checking out? | ConcubinaryCode
12.29.19 | 4 and no.
Favorite songs:Theme of Laura, I'll kill you, ordinary vanity, end of small sanctuary, room of angel, my heaven, wounded warsong, reverse will, true, innocent moon, confinement, nightmarish waltz, blowback, my heaven, and other side. | alamo
12.29.19 | your hot | deathofasalesman
12.29.19 | 2 is godly. After 4, Team Silent disbanded and it's never been the same. Only thing worth checking out would be P.T. although it's not a game and it's hardly canon. It is downright terrifying, however. | Evenoss
12.29.19 | 2
Track picks : Promise, Theme of Laura, White Noiz, Betrayal, Promise (reprise), Null Moon, Magdalene, Heaven's Night, Alone in the Town, Love Psalm, True, Theme of Laura (reprise) | xAshtrayux
12.29.19 | SH2 for sure! Ahhh now I want to listen to it again, what have you done!
Has anyone noticed that Promise sounds a lot like Dying by Hole? Freaky coincidence. I like to petend that the latter is sang by Mary. | Indomitable
12.29.19 | i thought homecoming was pretty sweet tbh | ConcubinaryCode
12.29.19 | I also forgot black fairy, love that one. I forgot PT. It's worth playing if you can get it. Homecoming feels like a movie tie in to the '06 movie. It's not the worst game ever but it's not what you'll want out of a silent hill game. | Aerisavion
12.29.19 | You called? | Brabiz
12.29.19 | 3 solely for the vocal tracks. But the scores themselves are very visceral and unnerving in that game, so all around I’d say my favorite is 3, but the best is obviously 2 | DinosaurJones
12.29.19 | Downpour as a game is ALMOST good. But not quite. There are some great moments though.
P.T. is amazing, and I don't think I will ever get over the cancellation of Silent Hills.
But as for soundtracks, I love 2, 3, and 4. 2 is probably the best. | foxblood
12.29.19 | For me it's
3>Origins>4>2>1>Shattered Memories>Homecoming
I love Mary Elizabeth McGlynn. Origins has an extremely underrated OST, the complete rip has some of Akira's best work. All the SH OSTs are very influential to me since it's my favorite game series. | foxblood
12.29.19 | More people need to play 4 and Origins, I loved them both so much. 4 has the best story of them all I think. honestly SH 1-Origins are all 10/10. the series falls off at Shattered Memories and the rest are terrible. | Aerisavion
12.29.19 | McGlynn is excellent agreed, she suits Yamaoka’s style perfectly | foxblood
12.29.19 | she has an amazing voice, can't beat Waiting For You ~ Live At "Heaven's Night" | Aerisavion
12.29.19 | One More Soul to the Call is top tier SH OST | samwise2000
12.30.19 | The track they did for the Revelations 3D movie is really good. Too bad the movie is shit | Aerisavion
12.30.19 | Yeah the soundtrack is okay.
The film itself is like experiencing an hour and a half of dry heaving though. | foxblood
12.30.19 | I admit I like the 1st silent hill movie but the second is a bit of a joke. I mean it's super cool that they attempted to make a SH3 movie but they fucked it up big time | Aerisavion
12.30.19 | The first SH movie is probably the best video game live adaption ever made.
- The aesthetic design is flawless.
- The monsters (although mostly SH2 inspired and thus lacking the emotional subtext tied in with James’ story), are brilliantly brought to life through mostly practical effects.
- The soundtrack is literally the game OST(!!!), something that was never done before.
- The opening is basically a perfect 121 recreation of SH1s opening. I couldn’t help but stare at how brilliant a job they had done.
- Holy shit Jodelle Ferland, why are you not in more.
- The film is just full to the brim of tiny storytelling elements to symbolise Rose Da Silva’s journey: did you know they made up to around 100 slightly different versions of her shirt? They gradually are changed scene-by-scene as the film progresses to go from pure white all the way to a dark, dirty grey, symbolising Rose’s slow drift toward the darkness of Alessa.
The problems? Yeah, there’s a few. The Sean Bean story is fucking dull (forced in by the studios because of a “lack of men” in the film), some of the dialogue is a little awkward, and some fans took issue with the monsters of James’ extremely personal story being shoved into a horror film about a mother and daughter.
Compare that shit to any other video game live adaptation, mostly action film cash ins (Resident Evil, Max Payne, Tomb Raider) or just barbaric shitshows (Super Mario Bros, Alone In The Dark, also Max Payne). Fun to watch sometimes, but mostly garbage. |
