08.05.19 | both spotify and netflix are pretty garbage imo. when i did research on spotify's (supposedly they've changed it now) it was insanely content based and just kind of locked every artist (and thus your taste) into a certain group of other 'similar' artists making it hard to explore outside of that little bubble. a good example of this are bands that have switched genres, my go-to is hundredth: all of their 'similar artists' are heavy bands even though hundredth haven't been heavy for 2+ years now. on the other hand, their artist radio (a more hidden feature of any spotify artist) is roughly 50% heavy stuff and 50% stuff more similar to current hundredth, suggesting more collaborative filtering.. just not really where it's actually easily accessible. |

08.05.19 | Agree that Spotify's is trash. I was really into the "Daily Drive" auto playlist for the first couple of days, and then it would just serve me the same 10-20 songs every single day. I love the idea but hated the execution because of the god awful algorithm. |
