luci
06.09.19 | would? is easily my #1. also one of my favorite pop choruses |
DoofDoof
06.09.19 | Would? is perfect yes - that's one that's actually my favourite on the parent album.
A few of these aren't the strongest song on the album but they're just the most 'rocking' while still being what I consider to be a classic. |
SitarHero
06.09.19 | No Song 2? |
DoofDoof
06.09.19 | By Blur? Wouldn't make a top 300 for me - though I don't dislike it |
SitarHero
06.09.19 | Hmm! You got me feeling like I gotta make a list. |
grannypantys
06.09.19 | good list but how did 47 make the cut over xyu |
DoofDoof
06.09.19 | grannyp - I love the scrappy intro so much I guess |
makkusu92
06.09.19 | great list. I see several songs on here that are some of my favorite as well. I will definitely have to check some of these albums out later too. |
Sharkattack
06.09.19 | Some surprising picks here. Good job on smallpox champion I love that song |
SandwichBubble
06.09.19 | Why are the song titles all in caps? Stop yelling at me through the screen. |
DoofDoof
06.09.19 | ALL CAPS IS QUICKER AND IN THE LAST LIST I PUT ALL COMMENTS/DESCRIPTIONS LOWER CASE |
SandwichBubble
06.09.19 | I APPRECIATE THE EXPLANATION, I MUST'VE MISSED THAT ONE. THANKS.
I CAN'T HEAR MYSELF SPEAK TYPING LIKE THIS. |
DoofDoof
06.09.19 | Sandwich - what would you say is the best 'rock format' Sonic Youth song of the 90s? I put up Sugar Kane but I'm sure I've missed something better :/
I like 'Sunday' from Thousand Leaves a lot but I wasn't sure it felt 'rock' enough |
SandwichBubble
06.09.19 | I'm probably not in the majority, but Skip Tracer off Washing Machine is on repeat as far as 90s Youth goes. Love that one. |
JohnnyoftheWell
06.09.19 | Skip Tracer is a jammmmm
40 is 1 |
DoofDoof
06.09.19 | Ah, Washing Machine is one of the Youth albums I'm least familiar with, will remedy that |
SandwichBubble
06.09.19 | I was the same with Washing Machine until a few years ago (never owned it like I did all their other albums), now it's one of my faves by them. Definitely worth a spin/re-spin. |
Pikazilla
06.09.19 | I can definitely relate to this more than your 10s list (: |
DoofDoof
06.09.19 | Pikazilla - yeah, I can only apologise for that, because no one out there is really recording music of the styles represented here of a comparative quality. Give or take, there are exceptions.
So I look for music that has the same effect, but often it's not what I'd label 'rock music' in the traditional sense. |
luci
06.09.19 | the 00's really didn't give us much pure rock eh? it was the p4k era of indie rock and pop/electronic infused stuff |
zakalwe
06.09.19 | 17 is 1 |
madrigal30
06.09.19 | no Zero and i am disappointed |
Atari
06.09.19 | Hell ya Suicidal Tendencies |
DoofDoof
06.09.19 | madrigal - just played 47 again right now and no regrets |
ArsMoriendi
06.09.19 | Hummer is amazing good pick. Also, Where Boys Fear to Tread is my fave song on Mellon Collie
Dinosaur Jr. wise: Puke + Cry and Muck are both way better than The Wagon though
|
neekafat
06.09.19 | dont agree with all your picks (particularly 1) but there's some damn fine shite here my dude |
Yotimi
06.10.19 | You forget ok computer? |
Sharkattack
06.10.19 | On second look list actually kinda sorta blows like what the fuck I thought you knew better |
deathofasalesman
06.10.19 | some nice bois here |
DoofDoof
06.10.19 | Yotimi - I didn't forget it but the only two songs I think rock enough are Electioneering and Paranoid Android...and neither really sat right on this list. |
