05.01.19 | "Not Good: Tundra/Desert, Breakthrough"
Man, that one hurts.
As for Weezer, Green Album is fine but White Album is way overraterd although I seem to just be a new Weezer hater in general |
Larkinhill
05.01.19 | Vehemently disagree on number 4. Actually my second fav after LCW. |
Larkinhill
05.01.19 | Gonna have to go with Mastodon — Leviathan. I love Mastodon and it’s a good album, but I find it less impressive than the rest of their earlier output, while many consider it to be their best. |
JohnnyoftheWell
05.01.19 | Agreed on 2 and sort of on 4 (but would swap it for Good News and agreed with dctarga, those two songs are fantastic)
Thursday - Full Collapse
Sonic Youth - Dirty
PJ Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From the Sea

05.01.19 | Black Star is amazing, wtf! |

05.01.19 | Sulk and Black Star are bottom tier Radiohead tbh |
geezers1989
05.01.19 | Probably Psalm 69 by Ministry, i mean it's real good, but mind is a terrible thing to taste is better |
Trophycase
05.01.19 | Hmmm, I'd rather listen to both Sulk and Black Star than street spirit tbh |
rockarollacola
05.01.19 | Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast.
Good: Run to the Hills, Number of the Beast, Hallowed Be Thy Name
Bad: Everything else. Some of the most bland and monotonous filler in the band's catalog. Not to mention one of their absolute worst songs, Invaders. |
nol
05.01.19 | Gotta go with Rubber Soul, it’s got some great songs, but also some that are just as trite as their past albums. Either Rubber Soul is overrated or Help! is underrated, but I view those albums as being fairly equal. |
Larkinhill
05.01.19 | Hmmm, I'd rather listen to both Sulk and Black Star than street spirit tbh
What dude?! Street Spirit is arguably the best song on that album and one of RH’s best songs.
And Sulk is awesome — so is Planet Telex. I probably would have put Bones. |
AlexKzillion
05.01.19 | "Overrated albums from your favorite artists/bands?"
They don't exist |
Tb1114
05.02.19 | My favorite band is Pink Floyd, & I'd say The Wall is fairly overrated.
It's awesome, but...
I also personally think Amnesiac is hyped too much. But that's just my opinion.

05.02.19 | Black Star is fantastic! |
Trophycase
05.02.19 | Meh, Street Spirit is too edgy and moody for me. I prefer the energy of Black Star |
ramon.
05.02.19 | What do you mean when you say overrated? You've essentially given The Bends and Section.80 the ratings they have on average on this site. Obviously everyone has their own rating metrics but given 4.0 (8/10) means "excellent" here, uhh..? |
alamo
05.02.19 | i gave whoracle a 4 and the avg is 4.1.....but people usually think it's the best or second best in flames album, and to me it's their 6th or 7th best, in that sense i find it overrated even though my score matches the average
edit-though i dont think that applies to that kendrick |

05.02.19 | hm. hmm

05.02.19 | there aint a lot but off the top of my head theyre mostly just albs i havent clicked with
senses fail - pull the thorns from your heart (im not gonna lie i love this band n all but how the fuck do any of you like this horrendously produced borefest)
la dispute - rooms of the house [2]
alexisonfire - alexisonfire (shut up ok believe me i wanna dig this)
hopesfall - the satellite years [2]
deftones - anything deftones post snw (no matter how good about half of diamond eyes and koi no yokan are, there's always another sleep inducing half to go along with it) |
Avagantamos
05.02.19 | selected ambient works 85-92 |
SymbolicInTime
05.02.19 | Iron Maiden - Brave New Workd
Not a bad album, but not that great either and is home to their second worst song behind Angel and the Gambler, Blood Brothers. |
Pheromone
05.02.19 | Breakthrough is the best song on that album smh |
StrikeOfTheBeast
05.02.19 | Iron Maiden - Brave New World [2]
Anything after it too |
Wildcardbitchesss
05.02.19 | “deftones - anything deftones post snw (no matter how good about half of diamond eyes and koi no yokan are, there's always another sleep inducing half to go along with it)“
no.
Koi No Yokan is their best album, they perfected their sound and it’s their most cohesive album overall. Rosemary and Goon Squad are a testament to that. |
StrikeOfTheBeast
05.02.19 | Oh yeah...Deftones - White Pony is overrated too. And Mudvayne's LD50 |
Wildcardbitchesss
05.02.19 | But I’ll say Highly Suspect. Mister Asylum is one of the best rock albums in the last decade but their second album is boring as shit. There’s like 4-5 good songs and the rest is formulaic alternative rock. |
Wildcardbitchesss
05.02.19 | White Pony is amazing but it’s overrated because it’s not even their second best album imo.
And LD50 is good but I have no idea why it gets so much love. |
Wildcardbitchesss
05.02.19 | Oh and Nevermind isn’t shit compared to In Utero |
DoofDoof
05.02.19 | Most of these I'm saying are overrated particularly on sput, but usually a bit overrated elsewhere too.
Plus, yes, I do like a large chunk of the material released by all those I've included below:
Radiohead: Amnesiac
Modest Mouse: Good News
Kendrick: To Pimp
Mastodon: Crack the Skye
Tool: Lateralus
Deftones: Saturday Night
Manics: Everything Must Go
Megadeth: Endgame
Metallica: And Justice for All
David Bowie: Heroes
Led Zeppelin: IV
Black Sabbath: Vol 4
National: Alligator
Fugazi: End Hits
Sufjan Stevens: Age of Adz
Arcade Fire: Neon Bible
Swans: The Seer
TV on the Radio: Return to Cookie Mountain
Beck: Sea Change
Deerhunter: Microcastle
Fleetwood Mac: Rumours
Michael Jackson: Off the Wall |

yea no i agree those songs are great. romantic dreams, gauze, and graphic nature of the other hand |
onionbubs
05.02.19 | i’ll give you that koi’s highs are stronger than de’s and gore’s but it still lags way too often to hold it back from being a truly great album all the way through |
Valzentia
05.02.19 | all Dance Gavin Dance albums |
Pheromone
05.02.19 | Doof I agree hard on Age of Adz and even Illinois to a degree |
theBoneyKing
05.02.19 | Carrie and Lowell is the only Sufjan album I fully love. His other stuff is good but in general he’s...dare I say it...pretty overrated |
Keyblade
05.02.19 | the mantle |
DoofDoof
05.02.19 | I have more time for Illinois - Age of Adz I should prob bump down to a 3.5...at the moment I have it on a 79% on my AOTY account (which looking at it reads a bit high), Illinois a 84% and Carrie & Lowell a 96% (both of which seem about right to me).
So for me it is way below C&L |
Pheromone
05.02.19 | Yeah, C&L is deserving of the hype for sure. I don't think I'd give anything else of his over a 3. Although, if we're talking EP's the Mystery of Love release is absolutely gorgeous and contains two of his best songs. |
WretchedCacophony
05.02.19 | whoracle [2] |
DoofDoof
05.02.19 | Phero - Mystery of Love is also similar standard to C&L.
I'm not as critical of the rest of his output as you but generally I prefer his more acoustic stuff. Half of 'Seven Swans' is excellent too. |
theBoneyKing
05.02.19 | Yup, stripped down Suf is best Suf. I’ve recently been trying to get into Michigan and it’s very good but few of the songs really grab me. Seven Swans has more keepers. I haven’t actually heard Age of Adz yet. |
Firedust
05.02.19 | Koi No Yokan is their best album, they perfected their sound and it’s their most cohesive album overall. Rosemary and Goon Squad are a testament to that.

claygurnz
05.02.19 | KNY is like their 4th best for me. Rosemary/Goon Squad is a hell of a pairing though. |
DoofDoof
05.02.19 | Boney - can't wait to find out what you make of the 25 minute album closer 'Impossible Soul'
It has two sections which if extracted would probably rank as top 10 Suf songs...then...then the rest. I say no more. See what you make of it. |
theBoneyKing
05.02.19 | Not part of "Impossible Soul" but I do already know and love "Futile Devices"...but as I understand (apart from a couple sections on "Soul") that's the only stripped down Suf moment on the album so I'm a bit scared of it, the electronic stuff on his Christmas albums and other side projects is decent at best. |
DoofDoof
05.02.19 | Age of Adz is where Suf utilises electronics best but...still not crazy about it barring a few songs.
Futile Devices is the best song as I can't rip up Impossible Soul into separate songs. The atmospheric Now That I'm Older is a grower though and the next best thing after that.
I'd say Impossible Soul is the most frustrating song I could name - drives me insane, so indulgent and precious...the worst traits of Suf |
Pheromone
05.02.19 | I can't remember the name, but the second track on that album drives me insane |
JeetJeet
05.02.19 | Earl Sweatshirt's Some Rap Songs
Deftones' Gore
Mastodon's Emperor of Sand |
Tb1114
05.02.19 | Gonna be that one guy on this thread: I always thought Age of Adz was Suf's most underrated, besides maybe Seven Swans. C&L and Illinois get mad hyped (although it's not undeserved). I can see why people dislike Age of Adz, but I don't necessarily think it's overrated. Granted, I should say it's one of my 5's so y'all might wanna discard my opinion altogether |
PyramidNoise
05.02.19 | Epicloud by Devin Townsend. Devin lost his way shortly after he wrapped up Ghost and the initial run of the DTP. Epicloud was the first album after Ghost and is a truly dumb album. He meant it to be dumb, but people latched on to that leading to the most tedious years of Dev's career (Casualties being the exception) that only broke when Empath came out.
Fairly sure half the crap he did in the later years of the DTP was because a) he knew it sold well and needed to think about his family and b) he felt like people expected it from him. The 'Evening with' show I went to the other day only cements this idea in my head.
And I know it's not over-rated on Sput. But out in the real world it made Devin "accessible" and popular in a way that made a lot of people think he was just some funny guy who wrote big metal songs. Which is way too simplistic. |
Wildcardbitchesss
05.02.19 | Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning are overrated, so is Reign in Blood.
Metallica’s real best album is Justice, and Slayers is south of Heaven |
LebowskiRams
05.02.19 | ramon.
Overrated =/= bad, just not worthy of the praise it gets imo |
BigHans
05.02.19 | How is Green overrated? It's almost universally panned. Which is ridiculous as the album goes unbelievably hard. |
Wildcardbitchesss
05.02.19 | I like Green as much as blue tbh
Pinkerton kills both of them though |
BigHans
05.02.19 | Green is killer. Don't Let Go, and especially Photograph and Simple Pages, are fucking bangers. |
LelandAB
05.02.19 | I don't even think Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy counts as overrated, because most people agree that it fucking sucks, but that's Dredg's only remotely bad album. Great band. |
Sinternet
05.02.19 | kendrick - tpab: gkmc is just a ton btter to me
mwy - ten stories: probably their weakest full length, feels like its just a transition between brother sister and pale horses (its all crazy being the odd one out in their discog but severely underrated)
opeth - blackwater park: halfway between mayh/still life and deliverance whilst maintaining any weaknesses from both. just not that interesting
first ones i thought of off the top of my head |
Sinternet
05.02.19 | also the underrated sufjan album is enjoy your rabbit thx n bye |

05.02.19 | Chino s vocals are a mess, besides a few ugly af tracks...incredibly overrated here on sput with many claims being their fave Deftones. I 4 it because I still enjoy it a lot and its one of my fave bands...definetely my least fave right before Gore (but I don't think that one is overrated). Not to mention the band was crossing a bad period personaly, they still pulled of a more than decent album. |
butt.
05.02.19 | Brand New is my favorite band. Deja is very overrated.
Also love Radiohead, and OKC is overrated as well. |
Kompys2000
05.02.19 | Hey wtf Planet Telex is great
I Agree on Long Drive though, it's grown on me since I first heard it but it's still got a good amount of sub-par material.
As for my own picks...
Ween-Pure Guava
The Flaming Lips-Embryonic
Brand New-Deja |
FirstStrikeIsDeadly
05.02.19 | Coroner - Punishment for Decadence
Swans - To Be Kind
Daniel Johnston - Yip/Jump Music
I had justifications typed out for all of these but fucking Sputnik randomly logged me out when I hit Submit and I'm not gonna type it all again |

05.04.19 | Sci fi and Daisy by Brand new |
Larkinhill
05.04.19 | Sci fi and Daisy by Brand new
I assume you’re not really a fan if you consider nearly half their discog to be overrated?
I highly disagree about Sci fi but that’s cool. At any rate, plenty of people didn’t/don’t like Daisy so, if anything, I’d say it’s underrated personally. |
