Perfection. While short, every song here is monumental and serves a very deliberate purpose. The title track is probably their best and most presistant epic - musically at least, and Circumstances is a short, easily-digestible song that manages to stay simple while not compromising on musical and lyrical depth. The Trees creates a "prog microcosm" of its own and manages to convey a complete musical experience in less than 5 minutes, and finally, La Villa Strangiato pretty much defines the notion of "letting the music do the talking", telling a complete, coherent, compelling story without even saying a word. It really is one of the best instrumental tracks ever recorded.
Each track in this album deserves to be regarded as one of the absolute best of its kind, so of course all of them together create a timeless masterpiece, rightfully regarded as one of the greatest progressive albums of all time. | 2 | | Rainbow Long Live Rock 'n' Roll | |
