Classics I've Never Jammed

Time for my musical history education to get a big boost. I noticed that I've never actually listened to many legendary albums and I feel that it's time to change that. I put a couple on this list to start with. Please recommend me more true classics from any genre that any music lover ought to have listened to.

4.5/5. Was thoroughly enjoyed by this. Of course I knew the hits but never listened to it in full. Excellent flow, great songs and a timeless story.

4.3/5. Oeff what a rollercoaster ride this was. This has been so meticulously put together its humbling. This might become a 5 in time, but I'm yet a little too uncomfortable with this earlier style of BM to make it easy listening for me. Nevertheless, this is some fantastic stuff.

3.8/5. Knew most of these, but I found that the rest are all very same-y. I think just listening to their greatest hits would be enough for any non-fan. Still, it's easy listening roadtrip music with little to dislike.

3.9/5. What a fascinating listen. Except for the hits on the radio (mostly in the 2000's) I never actually listened to a full hip-hop/rap record, so I'm pretty much a complete novice. My image of rap is mostly about ho's, guns and drugs, done pretty much solely by people like the One-Nine'ers from Sons of Anarchy. Of course I always new that it had to be much more than that, and this opened my eyes. Very personal and serious. I might dive a little deeper in this genre to broaden my musical vision further. Very happy I listened to this!

3.0/5. I knew a couple of songs from this but somehow Priest has never really been for me. By all rights they should. It's guitar driven music (I'm a guitarist myself) with technical proficiency (check), an interesting and good vocalist and tight songs. Yet I don't feel anything while listening to Painkiller. It's just all "Yeah this is o.k. I guess". My loss.

3.6/5. You know what? I went into this fully expecting to hate it, but I didn't. I don't like the Radiohead songs that I know and thus felt quite a bit of skepticism putting this even on here. I fully expected to have a Muse-esque reaction (a band I can't stand for the life of me), but I found Thom Yorke's vocals much more listenable and pleasant than Matt Belemy's.

Have seen this on many a 5 list. Dunno if it can be considered a classic really but I'll just add it anyway.

*After listening once, I have no idea how to rate this. This will def. need more listens to show it's true beauty. Really enjoyed this and there is surely a lot of quality music here, but for now I can see this going anywhere between 3.5 and 5 so will refrain from rating until it shows its true colors to me.

3.5/5. This made me laugh out loud (in a good way) on a couple of songs. It's silly, fun yet serious and actually quite diverse for a ska/punk record. Its good for what it is, but its not something I will listen to often. I need to be in a pretty specific mood for this.

2.5/5. Tbh the most impressive thing I found while listening to this was how early this was made. Didn't really enjoy it a lot though, not much that really grabbed my attention. l'm happy that I listened though, its good to hear where things all started for a genre.

3.7/5. The title track was pretty amazing, and the other songs on this are groovy as hell, but I liked some clearly better then others. Wars of Armageddon is a horrible mess though, without it this would be a 4 or maybe even higher. Overall a pretty good album.

3.2/5. There we parts of this I really liked, and parts that I couldn't really connect with. The crazy nursery rhyme lyrics in Alife are kinda soothing, and Little Red Riding Hood Hit the Road is pretty awesome. It does sometimes sound like a poor man's Genesis though (the old era, not that Phil Collins crap). Owh and those last three minutes are hilarious.

4.3/5. Fantastic record that has a lot more to give than just the world-famous singles. 'Seaside Rendezvouz' is a lot of fun and 'The Prophets Song' is amazing.

3.8/5 This is the kind of music I grew up with, but I somehow never listened to this in full. Its fun and surely revolutionary at the time. Its also quite diverse which I liked. Some of the experimentation gets a little out of hand though, Moonchild in particular. Nevertheless, great album which I will surely jam more in the future.

3.5/5. I like my powermetal and I like my Tolkien as well. This was a fun, harmless listen with a couple of really great songs and a couple of less than really great songs for me. Quintessential 3.5 material. Me likey, but me not lovey.

2.9/5 The typical britpop sound with its minimalist approach and squeeky clean guitar sounds have never really been for me, but I can't deny there's a lot of fun energy here. I can't really gel with the dialect either though, making this harder for me to really enjoy.

2.5/5. Yeah this did nothing for me. All I hear is just songs with a lot of added noise coming from everywhere, that completely distract me from the songs instead of adding to it. It's not that I think it was bad per se, it was just really not for me.

3.8/5. This could either be a 2 or a 5 depending on my situation. It's super mood-dependent, but what it aims it does fantastic. Its almost like a soundtrack to a very mood driven art house movie. It's music to let your mind wander or even to fall asleep to. I had a very good time for about 40 minutes, but for a tentative listen its quite a bit too long.

3.75/5. This was pretty damn good music. Even though it's pretty easy listening, it's got a lot of complex layers that give it a lot of depth. About a good hour after listening, and nothing has really stuck though.

2.7/5. I went into this with a very open mind, but it is once again proven to me that Thrashmetal is really not for me. Instrumentally this was at some points really great and interesting, but the rest of the time I found it to be pretty boring. I also really don't like the vocals on this.
