Best Hard rock/ Metal albums 1972

Quite a purple year that year of 1972 with the release of both Machine Head and Made in Japan, both albums quite lasting in the memories of hard rock fans. But what were the other great releases of the year?
1Deep Purple
Machine Head

Yes, the one with Smoke on the water, but you can also find classics like Highway Star and Space Trucking on that great album.
2Deep Purple
Made in Japan

One of the most famous live albums in history. Showing the virtuosity of the musicians in lengthy jams and solos. A lot of Hard Rock bands would release live albums recorded in Japan after that.
3Blue Oyster Cult
Blue Öyster Cult

Here it comes, one of the most peculiar bands from the 70s, a strange mixture between MC5 and Black Sabbath with amazing and creepy lyrics.
4Black Sabbath
Vol. 4

Not as good as the previous albums but Heavy Metal fans can still find some nice things on that one, especially the nice riff of Supernaut.
5Uriah Heep
Demons and Wizards

Still the Purple year going on as Uriah Heep is oftenly called a poor man's Deep Purple. It's a little unfair and this album opens up the way for a lot of "Dungeons and Dragons" Metal.
