Cut To The Core

Early emo/harcore list, with some metal thrown in, basically recent digs.
1Adolescents
Adolescents

Staright up 80s hardcore, catchy, rip roaring musical lines that just don't let down. For fans of the Descendants the Circle Jerks. Ameoba, Kids of the Black Hole and Creatures are amazing.
2Agent Orange
Living In Darkness

Surf-punk? Hells yes. Ok fine, so this is more 80s Hardcore again, but another classic, this time with hints of the Beach Boys. You read it right.
3Heroin
Heroin

Early emo, this is alomst right up there with Moss Icon's Lyburnnum, awesome bass lines abound, intense as all hell, this isn't to be missed.
4Angel Hair
Pregnant With The Senior Class

More early emo, this s'hit is just violent, mixed in with twirly guitars and pained screams, its maybe one of the more experemental bands to come out of the 90s scene, theres almost an element of noise-punk a la Drive Like Jehu. I love the name Angel Hair as well for some reason.
5Antioch Arrow
In Love with Jetts/The Lady Is a Cat

Probably stranger than Angel Hair, Antioch Arrow drift in and out of harcore and post-punk with a violent intensity that makes this a really cool listen.
6Swing Kids
Discography

This is amazing, from the early 90s, these guys strike me as the precursor to Off Minor with thier jazz influenced tunes, but it dosn't mean they don't completely know how to go bezerk. Amazing album.
7Verse En Coma
Rialto

Mix 3/4 cup of City of Caterpillar in 3/5 cup of Malady and bake till golden brown. Result: Postscreamindiecore. Me? Facetious?
8Malady
Malady

Erm, Rocky hardcore? If you're looking for something differnt on offer from alot of the usual bands, this is worth a look.
9Majority Rule
Interview With David Frost

Emergency Numebers is a mind blowing record and this, while not QUITE as good, still tears face off. Reminicent of p.99 with their harcore intensity, their songwriting is still up there with the best of them.
10Sparta
Wiretap Scars

Yep, the At-the Drive In spin off, a much 'cleaner' sound than their predecessor, they sort of remind me of Thursday in that regard, solid album.
11Neon Blonde
Chandeliers in the Savannah

The crazy spastic heavyness of The Blood Brothers mixed in with eccentric synths, piano lines and electric beats, this record is strange in the best possible of ways.
12Dillinger Four
C I V I L W A R

Best punk record put out this year? More than likely. Just pure, distilled fun, I don't think I've been this into a punk record since Oh! Culcutta.
13Garden of Shadows
Oracle Moon

Melodic Death, sorta remind me of Kalmah but with a more varied sound and more progressive elements. Solid album, but I'm not much of a metalhead these days, *sigh*.
14Burst
Lazarus Bird

Probably one of the more interesting metal albums to be released this year, its wanders into different soundscapes and varining degress of heaviness while still remaining to be suprisingly listenable.
15Harvey Milk
Life... The Best Game In Town

I just don't like sludgy music, OK?
