neekafat 12.01.18	Copypasta of this month's theme in case you missed it!: This month I'll carry on the themes that RunOfTheMill implemented last month, but for this month let's go for something a little more cheery. We'll build off of his with some tunes that might come from a place of darkness or sorrow, but ultimately have a more hopeful tone in the end. Of course not necessary, just trying to not have things be as much of a downer while we head into 2019 (; Let's kick this month's ass guys!

But it's a beautiful little bittersweet love song that touches me deeply.
Papa Universe 12.01.18	Coldplay - All I Can Think About is You Actually, not half as annoying as I expected a Coldplay song to be. Then again, nothing much really happen in it at first. It really only picks up in the second half, but what it picks up is actually really good. The music video is much more interesting. 3.5

ArsMoriendi 12.01.18	"All I Can Think About Is You" Bassy so far that's cool... it's very poppy and trying to go for the whole spacy atmospheric thing. Damn, that piano part is reminds me of Viva La Vida which honestly is overrated as hell. Coldplay, including their early stuff, is just so bland and this is no exception. This song builds up but doesn't really change much outside of that. Ugh. +.1 for the bass. 2.7/5

From one of those 'comeback' modern thrash metal bands, this has a lot of energy which I just can't resist. Doesn't have anything to do with the theme, but it's just such a fun jam.

Also, I won't lie: I feel like I'm at a Mexican fiesta while listening to this. 4 mins in and the vocals are turning me off a lot. +.1 for show-offy strings, which is a pleasure here. 3.1/5

What kind of music is this and why have I been digging it more lately? 4.1 3. “Ella Guru”: “Hahaha let’s just play our instruments badly and offtime so that people we’re think we’re being clever and unique instead of just a basic blues riff.” 2.4 4. “It’s a Wonderful Life”: This is kinda fun, at the same time I see exactly why “folk punk” has a bad name. 3.4 5. “Travelin’ Far”: Definitely a more convincing folk tune than the previous one, this is getting me excited to jam this album for my Cram List! Mmmmmm those strings are nice as hell, still wish it were a bit longer though. 4.2

Now this one is way too short. 5: Travelin' Far - Murder by Death - 4.0 Oh man, thank you for this. I love it.... I just only wish it were a bit longer... hm. 6: Suburban Riot Squad - Riot Squad - 2.3 This riff is okay-ish, the vocals aren't great, but I like the production on them a bit, horrible chorus. Oh jesus christ this is 5 minutes?! I'm three minutes in and bored outta my mind. If this were shorter then it would be better, take out the entire middle chorus and keep the shredding end. 7: Farewell Transmission - Magnolia Electric Co - 3.7 This song is definitely great, but It's.... just a bit too long. I guess I'm having a big trouble with all these run-times this month

An attempt to vindicate (or, at least, understand) someone who lost the trust and support of millions. Still great song tho. 3.3 Apkallu Counsel: That intro sounds like some flight of the bumblebee shit. I'm kinda of a thrash fanboy, so this is right up my alley. 3.7 Cause: Needs a little more variation, but I really love this. 4.2 Party's Fall: Don't have much experience with Goth, but this reminded of the Cure. And I love me some Cure. 4.0 Times of Trouble: Man, these past few tracks were really good and this one is too. Some great grunge here. 3.8 Airwave: Listented to the first 10 seconds, skipped to see if the rest of the track was like it. Man, I just don't get this type of music. 2.0 Fly High: This feels like someone took DTD album from Buck Tick and added some punk to it. Best track of the month so far. 4.5

This is okay... 2.9/5 "Snakerhythms" I like the drums so far and the scratchy background noises are cool too. This is kind of a rush actually, nice. OH that scratchiness are record scratches and hmmm that sax is free jazzy as hell. It kinda just floats into space after a while overstaying it's welcome a bit though. 3.7/5

It's a more mid paced power ballad style song with vocals from Kenn Nardi, which I rec'd in one of the previous months. Some skilled instrumentation and good use of harsh/soft vocal style.

I like when artists think outside the box, and these guys damn well did while they still penned tunes together.

Also those strings wtf are they doing on this song? Worse than Dylan going electric. 3.2 Party's Fall - I'm like Ars and metal when it comes to this genre. 2.5 Times of Trouble - Heard this album a lot, but I find it a bit boring now. They're all gospel songs when you think about it. 3.7 Airwave - Yeah, nah. 2.5 Fly High - Wheee! All over the place, but at least it's good fun. 3.4

Gross growling 2 mins in though. Not my thing honestly. 2.4/5 "The Horror" You know, I actually heard a full album by these guys before because it was one of the winners during one of my 2 pitch contests. The Scarlet Beast O'seven Heads... I gave it a 3/5 and while I far from loved it, the song Disney truly impressed me. So fat the strings here seem very cinematic and not in a cheesy annoying way, so it's off to a good start. Not exactly my thing, but well made regardless. 3.5/5

The Horror- 4.0, I checked this album when it came on because of Papi's review and dug it, but that was a while ago and I'd forgotten what it sounded like. On second listen of this song, I still quite like it with its whimsical feel.

The vocals are pretty easy to tolerate an may as well be Freddy Mercury's compared to the last one. However, the bass on this one is NOT audible. :( Is it just me or do black metal bands not care for bass? Man, this is a long one though. I bet most people only sample the songs that are over 10 mins, but not me. I listen to 'em from beginning to end. Man, can someone explain to me what's appealing about burped vocals? Clearly people like them, but I'm just "they're burping...that's weird, and not even for comedic effect." This is some SERIOUS burping. Burping his feelings! This reminds me of something... maybe early Wonder Years... 23. The Curve - Castevet - 2.9 I thought this was gonna be that one emo band, and I'm a little disappointed. I might not be in the mood for this, but this feels very flat. The guitar is cool, probably the best thing in the song by a mile. The segment from 4:30-7:00 is fantastic really. 24. Raging River of Fear - Captain Beyond - 3.5 I feel like I should be in Yellowstone with my friends getting fucked up listening to this. 25. Christmastime - Smashing Pumpkins - 2.9 I really hate Christmas music, but this wasn't too bad, mostly cause the Smashing Pumpkins rule. 27. Love is Political - Birds in Row - 3.8 This band well and truly rules, I really need to hop on this last album of theirs. 28. Oerverloos - Fluisteraars - 3.7 holy shit this sounds like the guy from Leftover Crack/Choking Victim. The melody of this song is strong. This one may be a bit too long.... I'd like it a bit more if it was ten minutes. 29. Sakurai - Buck Tick - 3.3 This grew on me the longer it went, I liked it. yeah. 31. Secret World - Peter Gabriel - 4.1 Wow, he really does sound Springsteen-esque, which is not a bad thing in the least. The first half is great in itself, and then it transforms into an even better song, I kinda love it. This is great way to end this year's Song of the Day.
