| Hard-Bop Reccs?
As a jazzhead I've finally come around to hard-bop after all these years of modal, spiritual, free, and fusion. I've only just started getting into hard-bop via Art Blakey, and do not know where else to start for sounds similar to his particular punchiness. | 1 | | Art Blakey Free For All
I would love reccs that hit HARD like the t/t. Intense, in-sync, and punchy. | 2 | | Art Blakey Moanin' | 3 | | The Seatbelts Cowboy Bebop
Would love something as punchy as those horns DUNNUN. DUNNUN. DUNNUN. DUN-Nun-nunNUUUN. | |

11.29.18 | Thank you all, I've listened to all Zig's reccs but am taking a more appreciate look at Eastern Sounds. Great stuff. Haven't heard Max Roach before, but I'm liking it. "Free For All" still bangs so hard. Blues & Roots is also hard af | Trifolium
11.30.18 | Oh and in vein of Cowboy Bebop: Soil & "Pimp" Sessions is some hard Japanese jazz | Tb1114
