This is post-metal of the highest order. A balanced recording is found here.
2Rivers of Nihil
Where Owls Know My Name

This is an adventurous death metal release that features stuff like sax. Highly recommended.
3Voices (UK)
Frightened

This album features a claustrophobic atmosphere that is addictive.
4Agrimonia
Awaken

This album features a doom-laden approach combined with At the Gates elements.
5Oceans of Slumber
The Banished Heart

There is a depth and emotion to the music this female-fronted band puts out.
6Skyharbor
Sunshine Dust

This is the most Periphery-like sounding album of the year, but does its own to be unique.
7Barren Earth
A Complex of Cages

This band still does the Amorphis-styled music the best.
8Conjurer
Mire

This is a varied post-metal platter that hits you hard with impact.
9At the Gates
To Drink from the Night Itself

At the Gates return with more melodic death metal goodness. The previous one was slightly better, but this is still great.
10Howling Sycamore
Howling Sycamore

There are Nevermore influences in this band's music and it leads to interesting avenues.
11Boss Keloid
Melted On The Inch

This unique offering combines Baroness and Mastodon influences.
12Alkaloid
Liquid Anatomy

This album further refines the progressive death of the previous release. Good stuff.
13Sinistro
Sangue Cassia

There are some post-metal influences combined with a very beautiful feeling on this release.
14Hooded Menace
Ossuarium Silhouettes Unhallowed

This death metal release is as fun as old Entombed.
15Riverside
Wasteland

The gentle mood of this band is highly addictive.
16Omnium Gatherum
The Burning Cold

There's a good deal of melody to be found in this band's newest recording and it continues the band's hot streak.
17The Skull
The Endless Road Turns Dark

Eric Wagner fronts this great doom band's offering.
18Sear Bliss
Letters From The Edge

This is as unique as an Aenaon release and shows a great deal of variety.

Auri

This is beautiful female fronted music.
20Amorphis
Queen of Time

This band continues to put out interesting music worthy of recommendation.
