| Claustrophobia - Claustrophobia (2018)
Claustrophobia, my third full-length album and first full-length release in over a year, is now up on Bandcamp. It continues an exploration of the sound that was first introduced on Where Were You When the World Got Cold?, utilising loops and samples created from public domain music and sound samples, altered and twisted into something new.
The album follows a very clear concept: fear, in all of its various shapes and forms. The original idea was that the album would steadily progress into darker and darker territory, starting with relatively benign fears and slowly moving into more threatening ones. While for the most part this has been retained, some of the later tracks weren’t coming out as well as hoped and I made the decision to ease up on the concept in favour of including the better songs. In the end I’m happy with the choice, as I think the album’s second half in many ways outshines the first.
If you’re just wanting to sort of skim through the album, I’d recommend checking out “Claustrophobia” (which is one of my favourite tracks I’ve done to date), “Chronophobia”, “Acrophobia” (certainly the song with the most forward-progression on the album) and the closer “Apeirophobia”. Each song contains a quote under the lyrics tab that attempts to broadly explain the fear it is trying to convey.
This could be the last Claustrophobia release for quite some time, as I am not currently sitting on any new music and am taking the time to learn to use new software and instruments. Thanks to everyone who gives it a listen, I hope you enjoy it!

07.27.18 | Interesting idea man, and I enjoyed reading the back story on this. I enjoyed the single you posted from this, and as you know I really enjoyed Where Were You When the World Got Cold. I'm looking forward to giving this a listen at some point today. | SAPoodle
07.27.18 | Thanks man, you're always super supportive haha much appreciated! | DungeonBoy
07.27.18 | I definitely dug it man. I'll be honest, I was expecting it to be more outwardly horror soundscapes, and it was more subtle than my expectations, but it's a very fluid record, and am on listen two right now | SAPoodle
07.27.18 | Yeah man, I sort of gave up on trying to do full-on dark ambient a while ago, I think I'm not at a place in my life where I'm in that sort of vibe so it often comes out a bit forced. Every now and then like "Where Were You..." and the title track from this it just sort of comes naturally but most of the time I end up doing more chilled out soundscapes. I've considered a project name-change but we'll see. Thanks for your kind words and for listening mate! | DungeonBoy
