Neek'd: Primus

It's been a long, long while, but Neek's finally back to rain down justice on your pitiful opinions.
12Primus
Pork Soda

This might deserve to be higher, but I remember absolutely nothing about it except that it was pretty uninspired and uninteresting. But that should just emphasis the consistency of Primus that I'd consider their weakest effort to still be a solid 3.5.
11Primus
Primus and The Chocolate Factory With The Fungi Ensemble

Sure this is a weird and suitably wonky rendition of an old-time classic, but it honestly sounds just like any Primus record except a little less loose and more focused. Sure some of these tunes are boring and repetitive, but the novelty doesn't wear off too much on repeat listens, and it's a hell of a lot of fun. 3.5/5
10Primus
Rhinoplasty

What promises to be another excellent covers collection collapses under its own weight thanks to an uninspired cover of "The Thing that Should Not Be" and a couple overblown and boring live renditions of their own tunes. That's not to say the other covers here aren't great however, and "Family and the Fishing Net" threatens the quality of anything off of Miscellaneous Debris. 3.7/5
9Primus
The Brown Album

Again, it's been a year since I've jammed some of this stuff, so my mind is not ready for all these write-ups, but still I remember this not being as bad as other people thought it was. It waned on repeat listens, but the highs were among their best, even if it contains Primus's worst song in "Bob's Party Time Lounge." 3.7/5
8Primus
The Desaturating Seven

A pretty exciting and adventurous release, it sees Primus at their most out there and progressive, and I had different feelings about nearly all of these songs over the three times I jammed it. But it was almost always fun, interesting, and enjoyable, and that's pretty much all you could ask for in a Primus record. 3.7/5
7Primus
Green Naugahyde

This was pretty goddamn enjoyable for me considering I was never a big fan of their sriaghtforward "let's just jam a few random songs" releases, but I got a big kick out of most of these tunes. The highs weren't crazy high, but the lows were still solid songs in their own right. 3.7/5
6Primus
Sailing the Seas of Cheese

A great release through and through, this one takes a while to get off its feet but hits the bullseye repeatedly by the end of it all. This one requires a re-jam in the very near future. 4.0/5
5Primus
Tales from the Punchbowl

Just an overall great album with almost no low points. The standouts might not be the best ever, but there are virtually no lows in sight and the thing was excellent from point A to point B. 4.1/5
4Primus
Frizzle Fry

Probably their most memorable release is also their first, which contains their most recognizable track and one of my personal favorites, "John the Fisherman." You can really here the metal influence in this release, and the muscle that shows in this debut is sorely lacking in some of their later stuff since it really helps the weird moments even more exciting. 4.1/5
3Primus
Antipop

Essentially like Tales from the Punchbowl quality wise, but with more standouts and bangers sprinkled throughout. This is Primus at their most varied and exciting, and it's also easily their most underrated release. It slays, y'all. 4.1/5
2Primus
Animals Should Not Try To Act Like People

"Mary the Ice Cube" is easily the best song Primus has ever put out. The rest is great too. 4.1/5
1Primus
Miscellaneous Debris

Okay, so I'm gonna get major shit for this, but I'm not the only one with this opinion (the AllMusic dude also thinks their is their best release, not that he's the pinnacle of good taste). Why I do think that this is their best is that it allows them to take their weirdness and experimental tendencies and infuse them with other songs melodies (which have never been Primus's strong suit), creating an exciting marriage between the old and new. Hell, the majority of these tunes are better than the original (excluding Peter Gabriel's "Intruder" and "Have a Cigar" of course), and every single one of them is excellent, top their Primus. 4.2/5
