Pain of Salvation: Ranked

(Best to Worst)
1Pain of Salvation
The Perfect Element, Part 1

Honestly, the first 2 are a toss up. i love both just about equally, but for completely different reasons. Daniel gives one of the most emotional performances i have ever heard on here, and the songwriting is just brilliant. Not a single weak moment is to be found here. My favorites include Used, the title track, king of loss.
2Pain of Salvation
Be

Although it does have a weak moment here and there, this album comes together and flows so perfectly it is ridiculous. The concept, while pretentious to others, makes me excited and intrigued. Iter Impius is most likely my favorite POS song, and the production in here is most likely my favorite of all the POS albums. Iter Impius/nauticus II, Imago, and Nihil Morari are the standouts for Be in my opinion. I just wish the skit in Nauticus could be erased from my memory :)
3Pain of Salvation
Remedy Lane Re:mixed

The reason i chose Re:Mixed is because although it does kill off some of the subtle elements of the original, it fixes a lot of the problems the original had. I wish it was less stale, but it sounds fantastic. This album is strange, unique and fantastic. There are very few weak moments. The first 4 tracks, rope ends, chain sling and beyond the pale are the standouts here.
4Pain of Salvation
One Hour by the Concrete Lake

Iffy production aside, this is a very proggy and fantastic album. The band doesn't quite hit the sweet spot they do on the above albums but there are plenty of fantastic moments here. The stretch from home to shore is a little weak in my opinion but the final track makes up for it. My favorites off this include inside, new year's eve, handful of nothing, water and inside out.
5Pain of Salvation
In the Passing Light of Day

The group's (kind of) grand return to their older ways, this is an emotionally charged spiritual successor to Remedy Lane. There are some weaker tracks off here and only two songs that truly hit me like the band did at their height, but the lows are much better than most of their other recent albums. The title track is one of the best 15+ minuters of the 2010's. Standouts include On a tuesday, silent gold, full throttle tribe, the passing light of day
6Pain of Salvation
Road Salt One

I have no idea why people hate the road salts so much. Sure they are different from the bands other albums but goddamn are they good. Daniel gives a great performance here, and the songwriting is quite catchy and fun. it doesn't come close to the band at its height but doesnt deserve the hate at all. The production isnt good but fits the feel of the album enough to be passable. Heavier moments of this album definitely suffer from it, though. Standout tracks include Sisters. linoleum, curiosity, Road salt, innocence.
7Pain of Salvation
Entropia

This album is perfection from Winning a war to Stress. Outside of this, however, it doesnt quite grab me too much, outside the epilogue and nightimist. The opening is decent but not great, and the other tracks aren't bad at all but dont exactly win me over. The incredible nature of that one stretch puts it at 7th though, cause it features quite a few of my favorite POS songs. Standouts include Winning a War, People Passing By, Stress, Nightimist and Leaving Entropia.
8Pain of Salvation
Road Salt Two

Once again, i have no clue why this album scores so low. It may be my 2nd least favorite but i love it. The reason this is 2 lower than part one is because it does have some weaker tracks and doesn't feature any truly incredible songs like entropia. This is also one of the few POS albums that doesnt end on a particularly fantastic note. All other opinions are pretty much the same as road salt one. Standout tracks include Contained, to the shoreline, 1979, mortar grind.
9Pain of Salvation
Scarsick

While not horrible, this is the standout track in the band's discography due to it being so much worse than anything else. While the production is perfect for the style and there are some tracks off here that are actually pretty great, some songs are genuinely bad. The rapping is only passable, and the lyrics are easily Daniel's worst. It also doesn't help that this is the sequel to PE, my #1 on this list. Scarsick has a great riff and i enjoy it, cribcaged is great too (horrible lyrics aside), america is fun, ms modern mary, Idiocracy and flame to the moth are probably the only genuinely great tracks off the album. The rest of the album is pretty forgettable. Disco Queen is pretty terrible. Standout tracks are the ones already mentioned.
