05.03.18 My 10 Favorite Nu-Metal Tinged Albums

My 10 Favorite Nu-Metal Tinged Albums

These are about the only albums, which are often labeled as nu-metal, that I enjoy. Just my personal opinion.
1Slipknot
Slipknot

This is the only Slipknot album I really consider full on nu-metal. Yes it has it's corny moments without a doubt but this album did so much for me as a teen, helping expose me to very harsh screamed vocals and get more into heavier types of metal. When they want to be, Slipknot is very good at writing expansive songs like Scissors, Prosthetics, Gently, Iowa. Like them or not, Slipknot was far more aggressive and death metal tinged than any other nu-metal band and served as a great gateway band.
2Mudvayne
L.D. 50

Another band who moved further away from nu-metal after their debut, in their case it turned out to be a bad move. This album however is one of the few near masterpieces of this genre. The bass playing alone makes it worth a listen.
3System of a Down
System of a Down

Went back and listened to this album again recently and fell back in love with it. Very frantic and original at the time. Every song on this album is very solid.
4Boy Hits Car
Boy Hits Car

One of the lesser known bands on this list. This album is a gem. Amazing vocals is the things that stands out most to me here.
5Snot
Get Some

Snot was such an original band at the time, mixing hardcore, metal, and a ska vibe with a bit of rap flow in some of the vocals. It suck that this was their only release.
6Five Pointe O
Untitled

Probably the most obscure band on this list. Along with Slipknot they were one of the only nu-metal bands to mix in death growls, making them stand out from the pack. Hugely underrated album.
7Korn
Korn

Korn inspired many bands on this list so I have to include them of course and this is indeed a good album although Korn had many missteps in the years to follow.
8Nothingface
An Audio Guide to Everyday Atrocity

A really solid band. Definitely inspired early Mudvayne vocals and avoided some of the corniness many nu-metal bands fell into. I could've chose a few different albums by this band.
9Ultraspank
Progress

Discovered this band about 4 years ago. Some very good song writing on this release. I really like their vocals and the groves on this album.
10Flaw
Through the Eyes

Flaw occasionally has some of those corny nu-metal stereotypes but overall I really like this album. Some ballad types of songs and some really good "bangers".
