SymbolicInTime 05.01.18	My favorite game overall is Rock Band 2, with Guitar Hero 3 being second.

SymbolicInTime 05.02.18	Agreed on 1 and 2 being virtually unplayable. The hammer-ons and pull-offs were just a nightmare. I preferred the Rock Band series mostly from an aesthetic viewpoint.

The issue was that they excluded some good songs but what was in the game was good

AlexKzillion 05.02.18	I can't remember if I ever passed Through the Fire and the Flames on expert, which probably means I didn't lol 9/10 times I couldn't even make it through the intro... and if I got through that I'd lose on the guitar solo. Hell I only beat the devil once

Ocean of Noise 05.02.18	It's such a funny thing... I was obsessed with Guitar Hero for a few years but nowadays I have no interest in playing it. Maybe because I eventually discovered that just sitting and listening to music was far more entertaining than playing it on a plastic guitar. Anyways, my favourite was probably either GH3 or GH: Metallica. Pretty sure I owned GH3, WT, GH5, Aerosmith, Metallica, Smash Hits, and Rock Band 2. All sold now but I feel next to no desire to get them back.

I remember as a kid using the "never fail" cheat code to get past the intro and i'd get like a 89% on expert. later I found out the intro WASN'T EVEN ON THE FUCKING GUITAR at all, and I was pissed. still never managed to master the intro. :(

SymbolicInTime 05.02.18	I have more consoles than I probably should lol. Have any of you ever tried Rocksmith? It was basically Guitar Hero except you had to hook up a real guitar and play the actual notes and everything. It was pretty fun, but obviously substantially more difficult.

kintups55 05.02.18	@bloc Thank Activision for over saturating the market with 6 variations of Guitar Hero games in a 9 month span to the point where everyone was sick of the influx of "Hero" games and wanted them gone. @TheWonderSoFar I play Rocksmith regularly, it's fun. Obviously more of a learning tool and not the same casual fun that Guitar Hero/RB was, but very useful to learn some guitar with.
SymbolicInTime 05.02.18	Arterial Black was such a fun song. I played Rock Smith until it started not recognizing the stings correctly. I had to play the wrong notes in order for anything to register after a while, so it kind of defeated the purpose.

TheSonomaDude 05.02.18	there are a bunch of people still making GH3 vids, which is why I think the game will make some sort of comeback in the near future, it certainly still has the fanbase. Rocksmith was fun for a while but yeah the game stopped recognizing my guitar after a few months. I also had a GH rip-off game called Rock Revolution on PS3 that had a pretty good setlist, but the song covers were hilariously bad and the note chart scrolled 2D top-down instead of 3D towards the screen, and it made the game virtually unplayable...didn't stop me from beating the game tho :( highly doubt anyone on here has even heard of it

GH3 and Warriors of Rock were easily the best GH games, along with Metallica if you're a fan of the band. AlexKzillion 08.19.19	Bumping this thread because I've been fucking BINGING clone hero these past couple days after my friend let me borrow one of his old gh guitars. It's pretty much a "clone" of the Warriors of Rock engine that you can upload and play custom charts on and I don't think I've ever been more addicted to gh than I am now

AlexKzillion 08.19.19	If you’re a “hardcore” player (by that I mean like you could pretty easily beat the games on expert without much trouble) there’s literally no point of buying a new GH game when clone hero exists. For casual players it might be a different story but idk how many of those still exist.

I had so much fun with my middle school friends playing this and the other games, and thanks to it and Rock Band, almost everyone within and outside of my circle of friends that I knew at some point, picked up guitar or bass (which eventually culminated in an awesome and fun music scene even in rural West Virginia). These games were definitely a large part of what made the mid-to-late 2000s as awesome as they were, they had a massive cultural impact, and since those games faded in popularity, I have definitely noticed that the generation right below mine is not nearly as interested in forming bands (or making music in general). There is no music scene, and I have been hearing similar things from friends across the state. :/
