| Radiohead - Ranked (GooGuGajoob's list)
Personal ranking of Radiohead's discography of LP records. | 1 | | Radiohead In Rainbows
Timeless sounding thanks to its near perfect production, In Rainbows is perhaps Radiohead's greatest accomplishment. With its subtle nod to an era that has defined them (1997's OK Computer), Radiohead moved to a much more refined song-writing style to produce a much more emotionally connected body of songs. There's no least favourites to be picked other than songs that perhaps require more patient listening (House of Cards, All I Need). Even at its most explosive such as its starting two-punch beginning (15 Step, Bodysnatchers), these songs stay poignant and addictive by nature despite first listens that may suggest these songs might not provide more on repeat listens. This is by far Radiohead's most accessible, most beautiful record and the record that will stand the test of time. Absolutely Gorgeous! | 2 | | Radiohead Kid A
Radiohead's boldest release, Kid A is a stark release that demands open listening. Perhaps the most stretched out record with a wide array of sounds and styles meshed into a cohesive listen, those who prefer Radiohead's 90's rock output will gravitate to best tracks being Optimistic, while those much more involved with Radiohead's discography will be hard pressed to agree on a favourite track. My personal favourite has to be Morning Bell. Audacious! | 3 | | Radiohead A Moon Shaped Pool
Follow up to 2011's The King of Limbs with a further more relaxed sound, A Moon Shaped Pool is Radiohead's most patient listen. On first listens the songs can disappoint, however it becomes abundantly clear that this record is not designed in mind of casual listening. Radiohead's most magical songs appear on this record (Daydreamers, The Numbers, The Present Tense, etc.), along with some of their most experimental tunes yet (Burn The Witch, Ful Stop). I do have a least favourite, and that is Identikit. | 4 | | Radiohead OK Computer
OK Computer undoubtably is a milestone achievement for Radiohead. It was the record that gave them their artistic credibility made more impressive when looking back at their beginnings to fame made with 1992's Creep. The experimental guitar laden rock paired with simplicit song-writing results in many songs that have become Radiohead staples (Paranoid Android, Let Down, Karma Police, etc.). My personal reasons for its positioning is I don't really find myself attracted to the loud results of this record (Airbag, Electioneering, Lucky), I can't deny Karma Police however. Brilliant! | 5 | | Radiohead Hail to the Thief
Radiohead's brash meld of their electronic endeavours of Kid A (2000) and Amnesiac (2001) with their guitar centric sound established from OK Computers (1997) experimentation with rock. This record is filled with attitude evident from the starting track (2 + 2 = 5). Unfortunately is that Radiohead were unable to sit with the record long enough to create a cohesive track listing and listening experience. Much like the appeal of a record like The Beatles (The White Album), the interest lies in the spontaneity of the record and its many highlights rather than it as a cohesive purpose built listen. | 6 | | Radiohead The Bends
The Bends as un-adventurous as it now stands in Radiohead's discography is filled with perfectly credible alternative rock anthems. There's hardly a dull moment in the track-listing and perhaps the most accessible record Radiohead recorded of the 90's, its a perfectly decent record that's only aged ever so slightly. | 7 | | Radiohead Amnesiac
Some of Radiohead's most alien material does spur from Amnesiac (Pyramid Song, I Might Be Wrong, Like Spinning Plates, etc.), but it isn't enough to lift this record away from its lesser parts (Morning Bell: Amnesiac, Crush'd..., etc.). | 8 | | Radiohead The King of Limbs
Wildly uneventful, lifeless mixes and just some very uninspired song-writing...I mean, we all know the results. Yeah? | |
