April Ethereal

Unfortunately, there's no new Opeth to be had this month, but list is other albums I'm looking to snag over the next couple o' weeks.
1The Wonder Years
Sister Cities

Actually preordered this bad boy already, just need to get to my record shop to pick it up. Also, fun fact: Saw them live/acoustic at the same shop last week. Pretty cool, I was fending off a cold at the time, so the fact that it was short and sweet was actually a major plus in my book. Also, got No Closer to Heaven signed, so that's what's up.
2Wye Oak
The Louder I Call, the Faster It Runs
3Hop Along
Bark Your Head Off, Dog

Seeing this band in early May, so torn between whether to grab this early and give it some spins to get acquainted, or to just hold off and grab it at the show. Either way, I'm sure it won't disappoint.
4Frankie Cosmos
Vessel
5Amen Dunes
Freedom

Been digging Love a good bit recently, but that's my only other exposure to the artist. Curious how this will stack up.
6A Perfect Circle
Eat the Elephant

Keeping my expectations tempered on this one, especially (and maybe this is shallow) with the art being so goofy, but all the early singles have grown on me quite a bit, especially "Talktalk," so hopefully this does the legacy at least some justice.
7The Amazing
In Transit
8The Weeknd
My Dear Melancholy,

Like seemingly most folks around these here parts, feel like it's been a severe case of diminishing returns with ol' Abel. Again, call it superficial, but the art and cover have me at least half-hoping that this is more in keeping with the Trilogy vibes than his increasingly polished second life. At least it's cheap.
9Janelle Monae
Dirty Computer
10Jonny Greenwood
You Were Never Really Here

Been digging Greenwood's also-recent score for P.T. Anderson's Phantom Thread a good bit recently. I'm sure this is a very different aesthetic, although I haven't caught the film itself, either. But plan to soon, and what I've seen on it ahead of time promises a bulked-up Joaquin Phoenix murdering folks with a hammer, so I'm sure it will qualify, at bare minimum, as interesting. Here's hoping the score follows suit.
11Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Murder Ballads

Been meaning to do a deeper dive into Cave for a bit, hoping to find this one on the cheap. (Other entry points are welcome; shamefully, I only have Skeleton Tree and his soundtracks with Warren Ellis so far, but those are all fantastic.)
12Panopticon
The Scars of Man on the Once Nameless Wilderness
13Breaking Benjamin
Ember

Definite guilty pleasure/obligation purchase here. If nothing else, "Red Cold River" has been an earworm, which is laudable especially in light of its distinct lake of a melody. I actually mean that as a sincere compliment.
14Lord Huron
Vide Noir

A band I feel deserves a bit more recognition on the site, both Lonesome Dreams and Strange Trails are in steady rotation on my stereo, counting on this one to keep the streak alive.
15Deadguy
Screamin' With the Deadguy Quintet
16Frank Turner
Be More Kind
17Daughter
Music From Before the Storm

Finally getting a physical release for RSD, which I'm pysched for. Haven't touched the game (my own gaming experience most peaked with Baldur's Gate II and Neverwinter Nights back in the early 00's, though, so I'm not exactly a good yardstick for quality), but love the hell out of Daughter, so I'd be surprised if this doesn't hit a sweet spot for me.
