Albums from Childhood

Just some stuff that I listened to as a kid.
1Yngwie Malmsteen
Trilogy

My parents played this a lot and it had a massive impact on me. I eventually ended up getting more albums from his discography but this is where a lot of music appreciation started for me and the first artist I listened to intently.
2Skid Row
Slave to the Grind

Holds up really well despite what people usually think about bands in the vein of Skid Row. Great album.
3Rainbow
Long Live Rock 'n' Roll

I got this as a present from my uncle for Christmas with a note saying, "You'll like the guitarist". Yeah, no kidding. I hadn't listened to another Rainbow album for a little while but this was a great introduction to Blackmore, Powell and Dio.
4Scorpions
Taken by Force

An album I received from my mother. I was smitten with tracks like We'll Burn the Sky, The Riot of Your Time and Sails of Charon. It wasn't soon after that I began loving the rest of the album and much of '70s Scorpions.
5Deep Purple
Burn

Hilariously enough, my first Deep Purple album. So many people refer to a Mk. II album as their first but for me, it was good ol' Mk. III. Not a bad place to start as it still remains an incredibly impressive piece of work.
6George Michael
Older

Something I found in my dad's collection and ended up listening to a lot. George deserved a much better career considering how great his first two solo albums were. A shame but he'll be remembered for some brilliantly executed material.
7King Crimson
Red

I had listened to Pink Floyd prior but I had never really got too much into prog until this album. I accidentally stumbled upon the song, Fallen Angel, from Red and I was so engaged in its sound that I had to listen to more. Robert Fripp became one of my favorite musicians over the course of a few years after that discovery.
8Andreas Vollenweider
Caverna Magica

My parents loved listening to this man's music whenever we went on road trips. To this day, despite not really meeting many people who listen to new age, I find his music delightful.
9Blind Guardian
Imaginations from the Other Side

A gift from one of my older cousins. While it's not quite my favorite from them anymore, it's up there.
10Santana
Abraxas

An entrancing album. I spent weekends reading comics and listening to this one and several others.
