Cut Deeper 1/1/18

So I'm still trying to make this series a thing, even though its first instalment went with literally no reception whatsoever. Nevertheless, here we go again. I'll dial back with the amount a little, so from now on it'll be only 7 songs. I give you 7 deep cuts from all sorts of albums to help you get through the week. That's what this is. Here we go.
1Arctic Monkeys
Humbug

Pretty Visitors

A suddenly evoked discussion on Sputnik regarding this album brought me to feature this on here. Specifically a song that doesn't get nearly as many wows as its album mates. Pretty Visitors strikes with with a certain snappiness that seems to be almost reminiscent of the band's material prior to Humbug, but still sounding much more mature and poetic, on par with the rest of the Humbug tracklist.
2Foxing
Dealer

Eiffel

I don't really have a lot to say about htis track. It's just actually good. And considering I always looked at Foxing's music as on something decent, but never too much to actually stay with you, this actually striking cut is -I think- a success.
3King Dude
Sex

Our Love Will Carry On

Even the folks that like this album as much as I did rarely talk about this song. And that is sad, considering this track is absolutely gorgeous. The Mark Lanegan worship might be a little off-putting to some, but once you get through it, it is one hell of a beauty.
4Mission of Burma
Vs.

Learn How

One of the band's more chaotic tracks and one that would seemingly sit well with the listeners had they listened to it in the context of the full album. But there is just some strange, off-putting, grinding essence to it that grabs you and makes you come back to it. You may not like it, but you just have to spin it again. Y'know, to prove that you don't like it. And again. And again.
5The Aliens
Luna

Dove Returning

That proper kind of song that juggles both Psychedelic trippiness and the mellow Popiness. It doesn't fall into a complete Psych dissonance, but also doesn't become a washed out Pop jingle. It's just a nice little youthful tune.
6Protomartyr
Relatives In Descent

Night-Blooming Cereus

This might as well be my last major fanboy ejaculation over this album, then I am done. People often mistake the genre of Post-Punk for just a Joy Division soundalike competition, but there is so, so, so much more to it than that. And Protomartyr keep on delivering that exact subversion of expectations. But it seems that they just couldn't miss out on the opportunity to nib into Joy's stylistic catalogue, even if just a little bit. Still, you couldn't have ever asked for a better way to do so, than with Night-Blooming Cereus. It will just be impossible.
7Cold War Kids
Mine is Yours

Bulldozer

I cannot explain my enjoyment of this band. It's beyond understanding. But I hope that you might understand it a little better with this mellow, slowly building tune of sorrow and solitude. But it is not only about that, for Bulldozer is also filled with fulfillment and purpose.
