hexfix93
11.13.17 | Thanks guys. 33/39/27 are all in my top 10 for sure. And yeah 6/53 are sick too. Actually that reminds me, CM records just reissued 39 for those who didn't know.
@foxblood 27 is def worth listening to in full. Took me a while to get around to it but yeah, I love that shit too. A lot of songs for one sitting though lol |
hexfix93
11.13.17 | Haha, that album slays. Nice to see someone else who digs that one, thing only has like 85 ratings on here. I know some other albums have a lot less, but still. That album/band needs more love. |

11.13.17 | List goes hard |
osmark86
11.13.17 | seems to contain a lot of that old school 80s and 90s dm. haven't really dwelled deep into that territory yet, but I suppose that there's tons of goodies there judging by the reactions to this list from some hardhitting sputters. will check some of these out for sure.
good to see Artificial Brain, Gorguts and Gorod on here. solid stuff. |
Demon of the Fall
11.13.17 | This list looks very useful, not the most obvious DM list I've ever seen & that's definitely a good thing. 'Bookmarked'.
Man, when I'm going to get the time, too much music! |
Deathconscious
11.13.17 | im in the mood for some old old-school death metal and theres a couple here i havent heard, gonna jam. |
hexfix93
11.14.17 | Thanks guys.
@worthlessscab thanks for the recs. Some of those I've been meaning to get around to, quite a few I haven't heard of though. Good shit.
@osmark Old school death is where it's at. There's a lot of good stuff out there, although a few of these bands (like Spawn of Possession, Anata, Hour of Penance etc.) are more modern tech/brutal. You might like those though, especially if you dig Gorod.
@Aiwaz Just put that on my watchlist on YouTube, gonna jam tonight I think. |
hexfix93
11.14.17 | @demon thanks, glad I could help someone out at least. And agreed on there not being enough time for music. There's still so many albums I need to get to but my brain is always like "I gotta jam this, and that, and this" haha
@Adolf Just curious, which ones you gonna jam?
Jamming 85 right now, that album needs more love. |
hikingmetalpunk
11.14.17 | nice. can't go wrong with arghoslent |
Deathconscious
11.14.17 | Crematory, Eucharist, Opprobrium, Iniquity, and Thanatos. |
Scoob
11.14.17 | Awesome list
+1 respc |
dbizzles
11.14.17 | Hell yeah. Haven't jammed Gorod in a bit. |
Deathconscious
11.14.17 | glad i checked Iniquity, pretty cool shit. found another cool alb on YT while i was checking them, Pyrexia - Sermon of Mockery. Suffo worship that was released in 93. |
hal1ax
11.14.17 | nice list
gonna check 81 |
Bismark
11.14.17 | dont really like death metal |
Deathconscious
11.14.17 | you dont? |
Deathconscious
11.14.17 | @hal do it hard. Resurrection is better though imo. |
hexfix93
11.14.17 | Hell yeah Iniquity is awesome. Their second LP is pretty good too. Haven't checked out Pyrexia yet though, so that album was good? I've seen it mentioned in places before but never got around to playing it. Think I'll change that tonight.
Oh yeah and I think 81 is the compilation with both Resurrection/Ancient Black Earth. Or that's what I meant to put, anyway. Gonna double check. As far as the individual EP's, I think I agree about Resurrection being a bit better. They both go hard though, so I figure you can't go wrong with the compilation. |
hexfix93
11.14.17 | @Bismark Why not?
Also thanks to whoever featured my list, didn't even realize that. |
Deathconscious
11.14.17 | yeah i listened to a little of Five Across the Eyes, im looking forward to jamming that as well. seems like a criminally overlooked band overall, they have some unique songwriting ideas. |
evilford
11.14.17 | Sweet list, ruled to see Bloodstone here |
rasputin
11.14.17 | good list
no demigod? |
osmark86
11.14.17 | @hexOPBoi: yeah some old school dm is pretty sweet. just tend to prefer the modern sound, however plebian that might sound to the average metalhead on this beautiful webspace, since a lot of osdm is very close to thrash and I'm not the biggest fan of that style of metal with a few notable exceptions. thanks for the recs. |
hexfix93
11.15.17 | @Adolf agreed. Definitely unique, never quite understood why they don't get much recognition.
@ford Thanks, actually I think I initially found them on one of your lists a while back. So thanks for that lol
Damn good eye rasp, guess I was bound to forget something. |
Deathconscious
11.15.17 | its true that a lot of osdm is very thrashy but theres plenty of it that fully embraced the new genre as well. |
hexfix93
11.15.17 | Yeah I'd say by like 1990 and especially '91 a lot of dm bands had moved away from that thrash sound.
There are some death/thrash bands on here, but a lot of these albums have little to no thrash influence. So I def think you'd dig some of this stuff osmark. |
Donchivo
11.16.17 | Thorough list! I counted: 40 artist in common with my list of 101 favorite Death Metal artists... some nice things I should definitely check out!! |
hexfix93
11.17.17 | Haha good shit. Can never get too much dm. |
Deathconscious
11.17.17 | Its true, its a fucking addiction. |
osmark86
11.17.17 | cheers Adolf and hex. |
rasputin
11.18.17 | "Damn good eye rasp, guess I was bound to forget something"
hehe, I have a handful of dm records always on mind to bring up for lists like this, you pretty much checked most of them though! |
Inveigh
11.20.17 | this is a great list. i'm not going to read through the comments so apologies if this has already been discussed. hit up diSEMBOWELMENT - Transcendence Into the Peripheral if you haven't already m/ |
Hawks
11.20.17 | Fuck I still gotta check that Jumpin Jesus album, been meaning to for years. |
hexfix93
11.20.17 | @adolf Yeah it is, man. Nothing more satisfying than some good dm.
@rasp Just curious, (since you said most) what would be some of the others you'd include? Something tells me I'll dig them if I haven't heard 'em yet.
@inveigh Thanks. I think someone might've, but I'm actually glad you mentioned it again because I've had that album for a long time now but haven't got around to jamming it yet. Think I'mma give it a spin tonight. |
hexfix93
11.20.17 | And yeah Hawks def get on that shit, that album owns. |
Deathconscious
11.20.17 | Im on a death metal kick. Again...cant fuckin stop man. Morbider, Pyrexia, Broken Hope, Coffincraft, Undergang, Iniquity, Slaughterday...the death metal has consumed me. |
hexfix93
11.23.17 | Shit I feel that, feels like I'm always on a dm kick these days. Haven't heard a lot of those actually, guess I should add them to my list of shit I need to get to.
Been jamming Pyrexia lately though, ever since I heard that album last week. Pretty sweet shit. Think I might check the rest of their discog tonight. Just feeling that style of dm right now, been playing a lot of them, Suffocation, Iniquity, Oppressor, Morpheus Descends, the list goes on. |
Hovse
11.23.17 | rock on man m/ |
CygnusX1
11.26.17 | So much great stuff on here. Good to see Gorod and Arghoslent |

11.28.17 | Thanks. Kinda wish you could do more than 101 entries though, so much good dm out there lol |
hexfix93
11.28.17 | Anyone else dig 22? That album needs more love, only 3 ratings on here. |
mifzal
11.28.17 | List of the year |
hexfix93
12.29.18 | Minor tweaks cuz why not, haven't bumped this thing in a while anyway. Never making another alphabetical list again though lol, such a pain in the ass to try and add stuff to. |
Deathconscious
12.29.18 | Atrocity's Hallucinations should really have been viewed as a classic up there with the other DM giants. |
Deathconscious
12.29.18 | Ive since checked Moribund btw, amazing record. |
hexfix93
12.30.18 | Agreed about Hallucinations. On the topic of old school tech, you ever listen to Jumpin' Jesus? Another German band who was ahead of their time. Not quite as original as Hallucinations and different sound but basically just as good tbh.
And yeah Moribund slays. More people need to hear that shit, I don't get how so much good dm still manages to slip under the radar. |
StrikeOfTheBeast
12.30.18 | List is fuckin' A m/ |
hexfix93
12.30.18 | m/ |

parksungjoon
03.23.20 | i see how it is butt |

03.23.20 | hey, "god" is a huge title. I mean yo hexfix's pie chart is almost 50% dm, that's somethin |
evilford

hexfix93
08.04.20 | Lol thanks guys. I completely forgot about this list. Probably a few things I'd change/add but honestly not too much.
