I Never Said That I Was Brave
Now I know that this is just an EP, but damnit, it deserves to be on my list. After I discovered [A>B] Life, I was clamouring for more mewithoutYou. And all that was offered was their first demo "Blood Enough For Us All" (which isn't bad, what you would expect from a shitty demo) and "I Never Said I Was Brave". So all the angsty feels I got from [A>B] Life, I got threefold from this EP. Man, is it madddddddd. If you just heard this EP with no context, you probably wouldn't know it was mewithoutYou, and I love that. Every song is amazing, and when they celebrated the anniversary of the EP, I celebrated too. Much to my chagrin, I expected to hear this EP live, but did not when I saw them on the anniversary tour. One day, I will get my opportunity to crowd kill to "Dying Is Strange And Hard". Until then, I'll just rage out in my car when I jam this beast of an EP.

Ten Stories
Okay, don't get me wrong, I love this album. But, it's low on this list because it just didn't impress me all that much. I remember the first track they released for it was "February, 1878", and I was stoked because that song really harkened back to the Brother, Sister days. So when I got the album and gave it a complete listen, I was left feeling shortchanged. I feel like they put more thought into the concept of the album, rather than the actual songs. I do love the concept, but I just felt it wasn't executed well. This one was more of a shower, since after a while only a handful of songs really stand out. It's companion EP "Other Stories", while only two songs, is a great addition. These songs really could've afforded to be on the album if it weren't a concept album. With that being said, "Four Fires" fucking slaps.

To be honest, I HATED this album when it came out. Coming off the epic Brother, Sister, I wasn't expecting to hear an album like this. I remember referring to it as "some kumbaya, campfire bullshit". This album was the utter definition of "it's a grower, not a shower". It slowly started to become one of my favorite mewithoutYou albums (at the time). From what I gather, Aaron left everything to live on a commune and wrote all of these songs with just an acoustic guitar. So I guess I wasn't too far off when i said it was some kumbaya, campfire bullshit.

Pale Horses
I was a little worried when this album came out because I wasn't all that impressed with Ten Stories. But, oh boy, was I proven wrong. They really went back to their [A>B] Life roots because this album is pissed off. It was very refreshing to hear such an album coming off the coattails of Ten Stories and especially It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All A Dream! It's Alright. Aaron is just as troubled as ever, and he wears it on his sleeve rather than clever metaphors. With themes like the death of his father, his newly-kindled marriage, and more lyrics of him putting himself down. It seems he feels so inadequate, that it even sickens him, so out came a bunch of angry songs. With that said, I can't wait for what they'll release next.

Catch For Us the Foxes
While Brother, Sister sits as their magnum opus, then Catch For Us The Foxes is definitely their cult classic. Straight up, this album is just depressing, but it makes for such a banger. There isn't a bad song on this album, and it's here that they really found their niche with their style of writing. Aaron's lyrics also take on a much mature nature, with themes of death, his push/pull with religion, all the way to his self-deprecation and hatred of himself. You could read and interpret these lyrics many ways, but it's all in how YOU take it that matters.
(Note: This is also when Aaron really starts to use a lot of Morrissey/The Smiths references, in which I absolutely love since I'm a huge Morrissey fan.)

A to B: Life
This album is a bit of a different breed for the "typical" sound of mewithoutYou. Full of wailing and dirty guitars, a tortured vocal delivery, and the pure raw feeling. While it's lyrics aren't too much to write about (Aaron has even admitted that as this time he just wanted to impress girls), the music alone is enough to make you feel anguished, sometimes a little sad, and just fucking rowdy. This was my first exposure to mewithoutYou, so maybe it's high on this list just based off my undying love for the album. I'll be seeing them play this album in it's entirety in a few weeks, so if I happen to seem invisible from this forum, it's cause I probably died.

Brother, Sister
Anyone who's a fan of mewithoutYou will more than likely say it's their magnum opus, and I agree. Brother, Sister was the album mewithoutYou perfected their musical craft on, and it shows throughout each and every track. All the way from "Messes Of Men" to the glorious "In A Sweater Poorly Knit", the album stays consistent with the heartfelt delivery every member of the band brings. You can hear just how much work this band put into this album. The driving guitar of Mike Weiss, Rickie's bombastic drumming, Greg's funky and jazzy basslines, and of course, Aaron Weiss. While some aren't a fan of his vocal style, his lyricism makes up for it. The man is a poet, an intelligent being, and an overall amazing guy. There should be more Aaron Weiss's in the world.

Four Fires should’ve been on the album, while Aubergine should’ve been on Other Stories. I know it’s supposed to fit the concept, I’m just saying in regards to individual songs. | JohnnyoftheWell
