| Favorite Guitarists
Pretty self-explanatory, sorry Joe Satriani isn't on here, but I really haven't listened to any of his work, though I really plan to. The order doesn't really matter. | 1 | Megadeth
This one goes to Chris Broderick since he doesn't have a solo album and being the lead guitarist of Megadeth is one of the things he is most well known for. His music with Megadeth or just check out Chaos Theory, absolutely amazing. Shout out to Dave Mustaine here too, he is a solid guitarist. | 2 | Steve Vai
What a surprise? Steve Vai on a favorite guitar list! I mean, it is Steve Vai, he is a great guitarist and has some absolutely amazing solo work and time with Frank Zappa. Steve Vai is amazing. | 3 | Paul Gilbert
LOVE Gilbert. Incredibly nice guy, some serious shred chops, and tons of great songs. Whether it is the instrumentals with Racer X (Scarified and Technical Difficulties come to mind), to his solo project with songs like Fuzz Universe, the Olympics, Curse of Castle Dragon, and so much more. Gilbert is fantastic. | 4 | Yngwie Malmsteen
Another surprise! Malmsteen is an absolutely amazing guitarist that is just so amazing (redundant much redundant). I really wish he did team up with Paul Gilbert on Vikingkong, that would've been AMAZING. | 5 | John Petrucci
Dream Theater and his solo work. Another legendary guitarist (starting to see a trend here?) with just amazing work. Gotta love Petrucci. | 6 | Marty Friedman
Another fan favorite Megadeth guitarist with a solid solo catalog. And of course Cacophony with Jason Becker. A truly fantastic shredder and a great ear for melody. | 7 | Avenged Sevenfold
Synyster Gates has really become a virtuosic guitarist. His early work with A7x is shrederific and his recent work on The Stage is absolutely amazing, almost Steve Vai, especially on the closing track-exist. | 8 | Jason Becker
Another great Cacophony guitarist, probably even better than Friedman. Big fan of Becker. | 9 | Iron Maiden
Adrian Smith. He might be as good as others on this list, but in my opinion, he gives life to the guitar parts of Maiden. His solos are always better, his riffs tend to be more fun to play (such as The Trooper, Aces High, and The Wickerman). | 10 | Van Halen
It is EVH. I don't think I really need to explain. | 11 | Animals As Leaders
Abisi is absolutely fantastic. The cornerstone of Animals As Leaders can be insanely heavy, shrederific, or nice and melodic. Just listen to CAFO and that is all that is needed. | 12 | Alex Skolnick
Possibly the best part of Testament and one of the fastest guitarists around, Alex proves again and again why he is top tier and deserves all of the respect he gets. | 13 | Ozzy Osbourne
Randy Rhoads. I'm done here. | |

09.27.17 | Yngwie but no Joe Satriani on a list like this? I am disappointed. | fullautorpg

09.27.17 | jack white shits on at least half this list | JohnnyoftheWell
09.27.17 | Very tech list :/ | DinosaurJones
09.27.17 | I mean, for reference, Joe Satriani taught plenty of guitar players, including Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett, Larry LaLonde (Primus), Rick Hunolt (Exodus), Alex Skolnick (Testament).
I'm not as into him as I used to be, but he was the first "virtuoso" or solo guitarist that I really got into. | cold
09.27.17 | Is the Jack White thing a shitpost? Cause he kinda sucks | dctarga
09.27.17 | Hell yeah #11. Check out his old band "Reflux"
Angel Vivaldi
Jakub Zytecki
Aaron Marshall (Intervals)
Dave Knudson (Minus The Bear/Botch)
Larry LaLonde (Primus)
Cameron Maynard (The Contortionist)
Brian Eschbach (The Black Dahlia Murder)
Just some randoms

09.27.17 | 2, 3, 4, 8, and 11 are def some of the best guitarists out there. Tosin Abasi is on a whole other level. Needs Satriani | alienobserver
09.27.17 | "Is the Jack White thing a shitpost? Cause he kinda sucks"

09.27.17 | Abisi | DinosaurJones
09.27.17 | Uhhhh... Synyster is on the list, acad.
Also, I can agree with Buckethead, but the dude is pretty much a savant at this point. 90% of his material is pointless noodling, but you can't deny his skill, and that other 10% is some amazing and/or beautiful music. | Bigpapad
09.27.17 | But with the amount of stuff he releases, 10% is like 50 albums. | Divaman
09.27.17 | David Gilmour | dctarga
09.27.17 | Oh yeah Buckethead for sure.

09.27.17 | Fuck, I'll say it, Tom Erak | Aerisavion
09.27.17 | FAVOURITE. So not ‘ERMAGERD BEST TECHNICAL GUITARIST EVERRRF’?
No? Thank fuck.
Here’s mine then;
Buckethead - Obviously.
Lindsay Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac) - GORGEOUS acoustic and clean work. His picking technique make for some really cool athletics and makes him a seriously recognisable player.
Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit) - Absolute riff machine. Love his clean tone too.
Jim Root (Slipknot/Ex-Stone Sour) - Love his lead work. He has some really fucking cool phrasing during solos.
Brad Delson (Linkin Park) - Yes, his solo work is seriously shoddy. Yes, his recent role as the guitarist has been really held back. But, this is the guy that made me want to play guitar when I was a kid wayyyy back when I bought Meteora, my first ever CD. Linkin Park’s early riffs made me want to learn how to play, and I have ever since.
Piotr Grudziński (Riverside) - RIP. Died too soon. Fucking gorgeous lead tones.
Stephen Carpenter (Deftones) - All about the riffs and goddamn does he do a good job. Wish he did more lead but ah well.
Matt Bellamy (Muse) - In my opinion the best guitarist of his generation. Stupidly recognisable guitar work and a complete riff machine.
Daron Malakian (System of a Down) - SOAD is the second band responsible for making me learn guitar and Daron just makes playing ridiculously fun.
Tash Sultana - Of all the people on the guitar looping bandwagon, Tash is my favourite. Goddamn I love her.
Miyavi - The ‘samurai guitarist’. His more recent slap guitar technique and early Due Le Quartz riffs are awesome.
Thomas Erak (The Fall of Troy) - One of the most erratic guitarists I’ve ever stumbled upon. Fucking love The Fall of Troy and Erak’s ridiculously fun lead work is a major part of that. | dctarga
09.27.17 | Ah fuck I forgot about Thomas Erak, good call | DinosaurJones
09.27.17 | Also Erick and Mario from CHON |
