The Good Bad: The Competition ROUND 5

This time around, I want to know what terrible thing brings you joy. List of participants: neekafat, anatelier, DeadlyNightShade, DeusAutomata9012, Sevengill, Conmaniac, Drifter, dbizzles, butcherboy, DoofusWainwright, BlazinBlitzer, AsleepInTheBack, SoccerRiot, bgillesp, Joeman82, CompostCompote, pjorn

Droppin Plates

The heaviness and the ruthless nature of this track is definitely alright, although nothing even remotely outstanding (barely above-average in fact), but good god, the vocals are just godawful. Overall, it's an extremely flat and lifeless track and I cannot remember a single actually redeeming thing about it. 1.7/5

Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above

This is like Kero Kero Bonito, but Rock version...well, "Rock". 1.7/5
15Queensryche
Hear in the Now Frontier

-ELIMINATED-
SoccerRiot
Hit the Black

Such a dreary and flat song. The vocals are timid, the instrumentation exremely passionless and the production even blander than on Got It Bad. If this competition actually achieves anything, it'll be that my distaste for Queensryche will turn into hatred. 1.8/5
14Katy Perry
Teenage Dream

Sevengill
Teenage Dream

Given the vocal niveau and the lyrical baggage, for all I know, it might actually be Zooey Deschanel behind this. 1.9/5
13Pendulum
In Silico

DoofusWainwright
The Other Side

An electro-vomit that has some decent songwriting shining through, but it does not save the overall bleak and terribly sung mishmash of all the annoying things in Electronica today. 2.1/5
12See You Next Tuesday
Parasite

dbizzles
8 Dead, 9 If You Count the Fetus

"Hmm, that wasn't that bad actually....wait, why are my ears bleeding?" 2.5/5
11Slipknot
All Hope Is Gone

AsleepInTheBack
Snuff

Did not expect something as cheesy and cringeworthily melodramatic. Once it kicks hard, it does become more likeable, but only by as much. 2.7/5
P.S.: What's Malcolm McDowell doing in the music video?
10WZRD
WZRD

Conmaniac
The Dream Time Machine

Nicely produced and well crafted instrumentally, but vocally bland and repetative to a point of becoming unbearable. 2.8/5
9Avenged Sevenfold
Waking the Fallen

BlazinBlitzer
Second Heartbeat

Quite nicely crafted track, but the all-in-all production and instrumentation and the off vocals just ruin any kind of songwriting on here. 2.9/5
8Rev Theory
Light It Up

anatelier
Hell Yeah

Oh, it's THAT song? Yeah, it's still stupid, but fun for what it is. 3.0/5
7Dixie Chicks
Home

neekafat
Top of the World

It is quite an alright track full of hopeful sorrow, but what ruins it for me are the perfectly mediocre vocals. Good god, they are so annoying. Also the lyrics, while trying to push a certain emotional message, come across as just on-the-nose and rough. 3.2/5
6Breaking Benjamin
We Are Not Alone

Drifter
Sooner or Later

Is it weird that this sounds like Nickleback? But it really does. With that said, the song has a nice melody and is quite pleasantly executed. It's cheesy and silly, sure, but that just goes with the territory. 3.2/5
5Korn
Issues

bgillesp
Falling Away From Me

The vocalist's pulsating mumble-whisper voice he does, when he's ont singing, is still annoying like few things in life are, but the track itself is overall quite decent. It has a nice replay value and it's overall pretty catchy. Just not a whole lot outside of the ordinary, I guess. 3.2/5
4My Chemical Romance
Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge

Joeman82
Thank You for the Venom

Fairly decent track with some impressive emotional component, but I guess I just found some of the compositional/production merits somewhat forgettable. 3.5/5
3Bring Me The Horizon
There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It...

DeadlyNightShade
Crucify Me

Apart from the somewhat messy vocals that feel all-over-the-place, this track's raw energy and demonic atmosphere are quite engulfing. And even though the vocals might be the track's weakest point, it does sound like he has seen hell. Monstrous track. 3.9/5
2DragonForce
Sonic Firestorm

DeusAutomata9012
Soldiers of the wastelands

This song is ridiculous. I love it! I have a soft spot for all of this over-the-top Power Metal in my heart, after all, I did give half of Avantasia's albums a 5. 4.0/5
1Boney M.
Love For Sale

-VICTORIOUS-
CompostCompote
Ma Baker

The one, the only, the single catchiest and coolest track on this entire list. Ma Baker is such a fun and sincere track, even though it tries to sound overly serious and tough, the Pop beat makes the story of tough lady from old Chicago town seem like a crime-comedy theme song from the 70s. It's great in how silly it is. 4.5/5
