Radiohead: Neek's Countdown Fuckery

Bout time I added my drop of water to the proverbial bucket of Radiohead rankings on this site.
9Radiohead
The King of Limbs

Perhaps Radiohead's most divisive offering, it's easy to see where I stand on the subject. While I would consider it to be an overall "good" album, to me it functions more as an interesting musical experiment than as a memorable album that I'd ever see myself coming back to. Still, that being said, "Lotus Flower" and "Codex" are two very solid tracks that I might spin every so often.
8Radiohead
Pablo Honey

Often viewed as Radiohead's worst album, it's hard to say that it deserves the vast amount of harsh criticism it receives. While it's not even close to the wonders they eventually achieved, this debut is still an enjoyable album with a decent amount of variety and some excellent tracks such as "Creep" and "Stop Whispering." Just stay as far away from "How Do You" and "Anyone Can Play the Guitar" as possible, they're easily Radiohead's weakest tracks ever.
7Radiohead
Hail to the Thief

Radiohead at their most uninspired and straightforward, but still sitting comfortably their well-known sound; if someone had to sum up Radiohead in one album it would probably be this one. It's not a great album and it suffers from a lack of brilliant ideas, but when it rocks it rocks and there's more than a handful of great tunes on this one.
6Radiohead
Kid A

The golden child of the critics, I can't say I see why exactly. While it's obviously groundbreaking and clever, the songs simply don't excite on here the way their stronger albums do. It's slowly starting to grow on me though, and I can't deny the incredible power of the first quartet of songs. However, after those it just seems like good songs propped up by incredible atmosphere and repetitive instrumentals. I don't know, it's just not clicking with me like it should.
5Radiohead
Amnesiac

One can hardly talk about Amnesiac without comparing it to it's sister-album Kid A. Overall, Amnesiac features a more consistent and memorable collection of songs. While it might not hit the highs of "How to Disappear Completely," it never scrapes the unnecessary bottom of "Treefingers." It serves up a similar atmosphere to its predecessor, but in my opinion this album is superior for its ability to better capitalize on it. It's a close call though.
4Radiohead
The Bends

Slingshotting ahead of the generic grunge-rock sound of Pablo Honey, Radiohead's sophomore effort blew expectations out of the water. It infused their music with a dark atmosphere and superior songwriting. While the lows may be forgettable and a bit mundane, the highs such as the emotional whirlpool of "Fake Plastic Trees" and the propulsive rocker "My Iron Lung" are among the highest they've ever hit.
3Radiohead
A Moon Shaped Pool

Launched by the harrowing lead single "Burn the Witch," Radiohead's newest album also served as my introduction to the band. While it might not be their strongest album, it features their band at their softest and most calm, though there's something sinister lurking right underneath. I really need to give this another listen because it's been a while, but it was strong enough to get me hooked immediately into their world and I haven't left it since.
2Radiohead
In Rainbows

Probably Radiohead's most ethereal release, it further cemented their role as king of the art rock world. It served as a more accessible and likable release after a lack of original ideas on "Hail to the Thief," and saw a further development of their sound rather than another rehash. It's hard to say much about the album, but it simply has to be heard to believed. "Reckoner" is easily one of my favorite Radiohead tracks.
1Radiohead
OK Computer

After "Airbag" hits you over the head with blunt force, "Paranoid Android" serves up an explanation of what exactly Radiohead is here to do: blow your mind and expand the horizons of rock music. That's just what happens too, and throughout its runtime you're invited to partake in alternately gorgeous and terrifying songs (just look at that placement of "Climbing Up the Walls" next to "No Surprises") that forces you to build up and let down your defenses over and over again. I was significantly late to the Radiohead party, but the moment I started listening to this album I knew exactly what I was missing out on - one of the greatest rock albums of all time.
