Marsbro's Recent Digs and Such

Try as I might, I can't stop exploring music and listening to as much as I can. Here's a bunch of the stuff I've been into recently. Maybe some of it will peak your interest.
1Kalisia
Cybion

Progressive death metal in the vein of Persefone. Awesome, but doesn't have a well-structured purpose or direction at times, which bogs it down.
2Ab-Soul
Do What Thou Wilt.

Rap; would be better if it was trimmed down from it's very long runtime
3Kendrick Lamar
To Pimp a Butterfly

Hip-hop/Rap
4Lupe Fiasco
Tetsuo and Youth

Hip-hop/Rap; amazing how he can release something this amazing and turn around and do something absolutely awful. I love how this record flows through the seasonal instrumental tracks and it has great features.
5Jay-Z
Reasonable Doubt

Rap; like him much more than B.I.G. tbh
6Nas
Illmatic

Hip-hop that doesn't quite achieve the same hype for me as it seems to for others, but it's still damn fine
7Persefone
Aathma

Progressive metal firing on all cylinders. These guys are the best.
8System of a Down
Toxicity

Got around to listening to this for the first time in many years and actually enjoyed it much more this time. Glad it clicked.
9Scarface
The Diary

Rap, featuring a man with a smooth ass voice and sick beats
10The Ocean
Precambrian

Pelagial > this if I'm being honest, but both of them are top tier fo sho. Mastodoen-esque heaviness with prog metal tendencies with some metalcore-like songwriting. It works together in a pretty awesome way.
11Quo Vadis
Defiant Imagination

Very solid melodic death metal. Wish they'd get a new album out.
12Fort Minor
The Rising Tied

I went in with very low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. Hip-hop/rap that does have some admittedly low low points, but with some very notable high points that can go toe-to-toe with the best. Yeah, it's that guy from Linkin Park, but he's so much better here
13Trophy Scars
Darkness, Oh Hell

Used to not like these vocals, but I grew to love them immensely. Not sure how exactly a human being can possess chords so harsh but bluesy at the same time, but here we are and they work amazingly.
14Eminem
The Marshall Mathers LP

Rap that hardly ever makes compromises, dealing with subjects through a balance of humor and some violent, very serious parts.
15In Vain
Aenigma

Think of a slower Persefone, in all honesty. Awesome prog metal that deserves more attention.
16Brontide
Artery

Post rock/math rock that is fucking groovy, catchy, and emotional. It's incredibly addicting and is certainly something I think a wide variety of people would enjoy.
17The Fall Of Boss Koala
Reference Points

Emo paired with post-rock; worth a listen, has some great crescendos combined with very a very passionate delivery.
18Dodheimsgard
666 International

Industrial-influenced black metal; the experimental tag is thrown on a lot of artists, but you can count on these guys deserving it more than most. It is, at the very least, a very interesting and unique listen that you won't really find elsewhere.
19The Brave Little Abacus
Just Got Back from the Discomfort

Talk about a divisive voice. Indie/emo that incorporates a lot of outside elements to form a product that is both heartfelt and outside the box in its own way.
20The Newfound Interest in Connecticut
Tell Me About the Long Dark Path Home

Melancholic, atmospheric emo/post-rock that's criminally underrated. It's full of feeling and captures your attention from start to finish.
21Audrey Fall
Mitau

Post rock/metal full of energy and captivating songwriting. Not as generic as some say it is. Comparable to an act like Long Distance Calling, I think.
22Moving Mountains
Pneuma

Post-rock/emo
23Jungbluth
Part Ache

Screamo/hardcore that goes right for your fucking throat. Maybe not the most ground-breaking or technical or whatever, but it's angry as all hell and will do whatever it can to let you know that.
24Gillian Carter
Lost Ships Sinking With The Sunset

Emo with some post-rock tendencies; they've got a solid discography building up that's worth a listen to any fans of the genre.
25Danse Macabre
Synkopenleben, Nein Danke.

Metalcore/hardcore/emo/etc.; can appeal to many different people. It's a short but chaotic listen.
26An Embrace of Angels
'Ere January Be Unwintered

Post rock/emo with some post-hardcore thrown in the mix; it's got plenty of passion and masterful ambiance. It opens with an epic 17-minute track that's worth every second.
27On The Might of Princes
Where You Are and Where You Want to Be

Emo/post-hardcore; they are the best
28On The Might of Princes
Sirens

Yes, they are the best
29Earth Rot
Renascentia

S/o to Ebola for recommending this; very solid melodic death metal that's got plenty of heaviness and riffs to go around. If you think your first half of the year isn't death-metally enough yet, time to tune in.
30Macho Man Randy Savage
Be A Man

Obligatory Randy Savage appearance
