BallsToTheWall
03.06.17 | I love Pusher 1 and 2. Haven't seen 3 yet. |
Snake.
03.06.17 | NWR |
JeetJeet
03.06.17 | Refn. Only God Forgives was great imo. So was Neon Demon. |
Middle18
03.06.17 | @BallsToTheWall- check out 3 ASAP it doesn't have the style of 1 or power of 2 but is probably the most entertaining and just builds the other characters |
Middle18
03.06.17 | @poopyCUNT- totally understand why people wouldn't like this sort of films, but as a film fan I watch so many movies and get tired of the Hollywood code where it's all about the box office and sticking to the formula.
Im not an elitist I enjoy many of the safe Hollywood money spinners but I appreciate it more when a director takes chances and push boundaries.
Now was the Neon Demon shit? Hell yes it was a complete vapid piece of shite, but it was different....actually wait it wasnt even different. Ok yeah I agree mate what a pile of steaming dogshit I can't even defend that twat anymore, he lost me after only God forgives. |
Papa Universe
03.06.17 | Never been a fan of von Trier and The Idiots for as amusing the concept from the perspective of plot and filmmaking is, I found to be one of if not the most unbearably boring and tedious films I've ever seen in my life. |
furpa
03.06.17 | Might be in the minority here but gotta go with Von Trier. Dancer In The Dark and Breaking The Waves seal this one for me. Though I do love Bronson & Drive. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.06.17 | Love both directors but love refn more. Your write up for 6 is ace. I have to much to say for a phone, will report back later |
ArsMoriendi
03.06.17 | Melancholia is amazing, it's also really simple
The world is ending, but all that matters is that they're together... |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.06.17 | Also neon demon ruled lol |
JeetJeet
03.06.17 | Neon Demon does rule, and the score for it was incredible too. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.06.17 | I now officially know 3 people that liked neon demon, WE ARE OUT THERE |
furpa
03.06.17 | Lol Neon Demon was solid man, I don't understand the excessive hate towards it. |
JeetJeet
03.06.17 | Yea that movie locked me in a trance and I enjoyed it more than most of the shitty films that came out of 2016. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.06.17 | Fuck yeah team neon demon pedophile Keanu |
Satellite
03.06.17 | "The world is ending, but all that matters is that they're together..."
man if that's all you took away from melancholia i feel sry for you |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.06.17 | Agreed so hard I was gonna say the same thing but it's ars so I decided to just move along |
Evreaia
03.06.17 | Neon Demon was weird, great visuals but shite story.
Great music too. |
ArsMoriendi
03.06.17 | "man if that's all you took away from melancholia i feel sry for you"
I got more out of it, but I was just being super general. Also I haven't seen it in like 3 years... I was just thinking of the ending scene specifically with the stick house |
JeetJeet
03.06.17 | Refn is supposed to be doing a TV series that'll be a crime drama with surreal elements. I can't fuckin wait for that. |
EyesWideShut
03.06.17 | Lars >>> NWR is one of the most overrated modern directors imo
Underrated Von Trier joint, Dogville yo |
EyesWideShut
03.06.17 | Lars is doing a TV Series too but his is gonna have Matt Dillion so that automatically makes him better than NWR |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.07.17 | "NWR is one of the most overrated modern directors imo"
people have been shitting all over him since valhalla rising so i dunno about that
"But The Neon Demon is a great horror film, and I feel like his particular brand of style over substance is suited for the genre. It's an empty, violent film about empty, violent people. All of his films are, but the introduction of innocence to corrupt shades it favorably."
god i love you |
chinesewhispers
03.07.17 | Refn |
Riviere
03.07.17 | Both guys are a bit indulgent but Refn trumps Lars aesthetically. Also, Melancholia = how not to use hand held cameras. And Dogville? For sure just build a real set, no one wants to see actors opening doors that aren't there.
Bronson and Valhalla Rising are two masterpieces of the 2000's.
