| Musical Stories
When I was younger my dad would have these CD stories he would take when we'd go on long drives and such; now that he and my step mom have a 3 year old daughter he decided to dig them out again. Needless to say I got incredibly nostalgic and now I'm wondering if any of you lovely people have musical stories you'd like to share. | 1 | | Sergei Prokofiev Peter and the Wolf, Op. 67
A story about a boy named peter who ventures out into the woods and encounters a vicious wolf. This one is a classic with new versions coming out every once in a while. The arrangements and such stay the same but each one features a different narrator including David Bowie, Sean Connery, and Leonard Bernstein; although the version I grew up with was narrated by Jack Lemmon. | 2 | | Wynton Marsalis Listen to the Storytellers: A Trio of Musical Tale
This is a trio of stories composed by Wynton Marsalis, Edgar Meyer, and Patrick Doyle.
The first one entitled the "The Fiddler and The Dancin' Witch" is about a boy who accidentally summons a witch with his father's fiddle.
"Lesson of the Land" is about a group of Native American boys who venture out for in search for a rite of passage.
"The Face in the Lake" is about a woman who brings spring and beauty to the land every year who is kidnapped by her brother, bringing about a cold an icy winter. | |

01.14.17 | If anyone has kids / is thinking about having kids I would definitely recommend picking these up. While they're meant for kids the do have an appeal to all audiences. | BAT

01.15.17 | @Scuro I really enjoy them. I might be a bit biased as I grew up with these but you should check them out. Pretty sure you can find them all on youtube.
@Bat, we all make mistakes. |
