Archelirion 12.31.16	I dunno. I'm pretty liberal about packaging damage as far as the booklet itself goes (although big rips/major discolouration does make me fidgety), but if the jewel case of a CD so much as chinks, it's a new case ASAP.
dreamgazing 12.31.16	i bought a record recently (the knife triple lp listed above) and it arrived today, the wrapping is pretty tight and one of the corners ripped. ive been stressing over this and it might be weird but i don't want to seem vain. and with cds thats weird its the opposite for me, im super careful and fidgety with booklets but i don't mind jewel case cracks.

dreamgazing 12.31.16	i don't really collect either, i listen to all that i buy and if it deteriorates over time i don't care, but i get fidgety if it arrives somehow imperfect and i feel selfish and materialistic for replacing albums and giving so much thought to it.
Dewinged 12.31.16	I dont think you should feel selfish about it man, I mean, you paid for it. I guess it depends on the severity of the damage, but again, sometimes I am even too lazy to reclaim.
dreamgazing 12.31.16	i've been very introspective about what r my priorities and what i should care about for the last year and in a list of generally human, not tangible needs like healthy relationships and what not, my obbession with details in packaging feels off and unpure. i guess that's why i said selfish, it's a very 'me' thing, it concerns no one else.
Trebor. 12.31.16	It makes sense to be pissed off if you bought it as new but it came damaged With books, I don't care so much, as long as there's no writing or annotations in it, I can't read a book if it's all marked up
dreamgazing 12.31.16	with books if there's a bend in a corner or a smudge where its like dirty or some shit im bound togive it away. and yeah, i just know a lot of people couldn't care less about the physical condition even when bought new and are a okay as long as the playback is smooth, and i feel strange for not being that way.

bigsoulja 12.31.16	the materialistic view of happiness is one in which "happiness" is attached to material wealth (how much money you have, how much "stuff" you own, or perhaps even more simply, such things as the size of your house, etc.), and as such one in which the abstract sense of fulfillment that more usually defines happiness is instead displaced by this commodified image of "happiness" and what it should be. there's also a lot to be said in regards to how it turns happiness into a purely relative emotion.

dreamgazing 12.31.16	there's actual things that fulfill me in life and keeping packaging in mint condition doesn't make me happy, i'm content either way, but it causes anxiety if anything.
dreamgazing 12.31.16	it just seems like a silly thing to be arsed with and i can't help but to put myself down for it, it doesn't rlly fit anywhere in the bigger scheme of things, it's just sorta superficial.
porcupinetheater 12.31.16	In that sense, isn't it superficial to hang artwork on your wall? Obviously in context, the cover is secondary to music, but it should still strive to be a separate piece that contextualizes the music. If you're picking up a physical copy of something, particularly on vinyl with the larger scale cover art, the artwork is a component of the experience.
