Though it's enjoyable, I have to say that This Will Destroy You's self-titled album is probably my least favorite of their work. It's definitely the most "post-rock by numbers," as Young Mountain has a little more identity, and their later work started experimenting with a heavier sound and more drone-like ambience.
2. Joss Stone - Victim of a Foolish Heart
I heart Joss Stone. She's a beautiful woman with a beautiful, soulful voice. Severely underrated.
3. Bruce Springsteen - Worlds Apart
I inherited my love of the Boss from my father. This is definitely one of the more experimental tracks Springsteen has done, in my opinion, but it makes sense given that The Rising was the first album he released after 9/11, and his idea was to promote the strength and unity of America, including all of the cultures who became a part of the country.
4.mewithoutYou - Four Word Letter, pt. 2
I started listening to mewithoutYou and La Dispute around the same time, it was a turbulent time in my life, and they were some bands that I definitely found some cathartic release in.
5. Rancid - Django
Tim Armstrong kind of annoys me, but he's definitely prolific and somewhat influential, I suppose. I can listen to and enjoy his work, but only in small doses.
6. the Avalanches - the Wozard of Iz
I don't know if I'm in the minority here, but I think I like Wildflower just as much as Since I Left You
7. Incubus - Rogues
Light Grenades is my least favorite Incubus album. To be fair, if I listened to their most recent release, that one would probably be my least favorite, given popular opinion. There are still some decent songs on Light Grenades though, this one is pretty decent.
8. Beer - Reel Big Fish
Ah, my teenage years. I was in a ska band for awhile, and RBF were one of my biggest influences. Blast from the past for sure.
9. John Frusciante - After the Ending
The Empyrean is an amazing album. Froosh's solo work is pretty hit or miss for me, but he's definitely got some great stuff.
10. Brand New - Sowing Season
How apropo. I enjoy TDAG, but apparently not nearly as much as most people on this site. It's still good, but I don't see it as the Messiah of music.
