Masochist
08.17.08 | Black Star's self titled. That's Mos Def and Talib Kwali's collaboration.
If you want gritty, try Nas's "ILLmatic." Not exactly underground, but you shouldn't miss it whatsoever. Pharoahe Monch's "Desire" and Atmosphere's "Seven's Travels" are the same way.
For REAL underground, try Haiku d'Tat's self-titled album. That's a collab group of Aceyalone, Micah 9 and Abstract Rude. GREAT album; if you've played Tony Hawk's P. S. 4, you might've heard their song "Non Compos Mentis." | Erratic
08.17.08 | Army of the Pharaohs | SynGates
08.17.08 | Army of the Pharaohs
GZA/Genius
7L & Esoteric
Jedi Mind Tricks
Nas
Lupe Fiasco
The Roots
I'd say that AOTP are your best bet for "gritty underground" | Polaris
08.17.08 | Deep Puddle Dynamics is pretty gritty | steadyeddie
08.17.08 | Might not be exactly what you're after, but maybe try CYNE? its not really gritty but its good stuff. Check out the track 400 years by them | StreetlightRock
08.17.08 | Organized Konfusion you will love. | kingsoby1
08.23.08 | You will become a better person for listening to El-P's Fantastic Damage and Outerspace - Blood and Ashes (the track angels of death feats technique btw). Army of the Pharoahes are fine, but like any "crew" album, there is just way to f*cking much going on. |
