07.18.16 | For the last 3/4 years - Modest Mouse

07.18.16 | Generic af but Radiohead. |
ScuroFantasma
07.18.16 | Y'know what probably Korn. Can't deny that thus far there's been plenty of bands that are 'better' and rival them as my favourite, but I always return to them and get stupidly excited for new material. |

07.19.16 | Probably Metallica lol. As generic as that answer is, I would be lying if I said otherwise.
Sadly I don't like the post-Load material anywhere near as much as I used to though. |

07.19.16 | Mmmmm, tough. Either Elliott Smith, The Weakerthans, The National or ISIS for me I think. |

07.19.16 | I have a pretty un-fuck-withable top 10 bands, but #1 can be nobody but floyd so hard |
evilford
07.19.16 | there are a select few like DEA7TH and neurosis that are so close but just can't beat floyd, but they're all amazing so I really don't care |
MeatSalad
07.19.16 | Sadly no, a lot of the stuff I listened to when I was younger (lots of pop punk and mediocre indie/post punk revival bands) doesnt hold up well at all |
user
07.19.16 | love a lot of these replies. very interesting to see what sticks with people over time and in what manner.
korns a solid example. definitely my favorite band when I was younger. I often wonder how I would take their material nowadays if I approached it with no prior experience with the band. like, would I find any of it at all appealing? or would I be too overwhelmed by Fieldy's fart bass and Jon's general grubbiness to find anything redeemable?
would this video >>>>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg5fuZ9DXxw have any effect on me, or would it just come off as melodramatic and whiny? I don't know how my cynical fuckstick present self would take something like this. I know that video certainly made me feel /something/ when I was a kid, but I don't know what I'm feeling from it now: real emotion, or just nostalgically-manufactured emotion? I can't tell if the video is making me feel any semblance of true emotion or if it's all fake and only present because I felt it at some point in my life.
this applies to so much shit. did I actually like Load by Metallica? was the rollerball remake even remotely good? nostalgia is fucking weird. taste is fucking weird. |
LotusFlower
07.19.16 | love these lists that dont get updated ever
Also my choice would be Bad Astronaut, they only ever released 3 albums but theyre all 5/5 in my book. |
user
07.19.16 | clov I have a perfect streak of updated lists. the ones I actually put up are just the answer I got beforehand on fb. I just enjoy the discussion here. |
LotusFlower
07.19.16 | just giving u shit man, its chill. |
user
07.19.16 | periods can often come off as non-chill but it was also chill on my side. bad astronaut rules. well, at least Houston does. haven't heard the other two. :| |
LotusFlower
07.19.16 | their first is some outstanding piano/punk fusion while their third album is mixed quality wise, but the context of the record makes it perfect in its own special way for me. Also the tracks The "F" Word and San Francisco Serenade are the two best tracks in Joey Cape's entire career. |
MeatSalad
07.19.16 | Third bad astronaut album is fucking great for the most part, first is aight but I feel like houston did everything the first album did but much better |
MeatSalad
07.19.16 | And yeah the F word is their best song by far |
LotusFlower
07.19.16 | The first has a lot of great cuts though and the piano component is so heavenly, it ties it together well. |
Funeralopolis
07.19.16 | In Flames, but a few others are very close |
LotusFlower
07.19.16 | The F Word and San Francisco Serenade, I especially love the bridge of that song with the piano, the drum line that sounds like fireworks, and the "la la la" slightly modulated inbetween. The sound design on their record are always heavenly. |
p4p
07.19.16 | chiodos - all's well that ends well |
MeatSalad
07.19.16 | Yeah.. fuck man, I'd really love to see joey cape and the other remaining members make some more music together. Under a different name though, for obvious reasons |
LotusFlower
07.19.16 | I remember Joey said in his reddit AMA there was enough finished material for another Bad Astronaut album and a lot of demos/unfinished cuts but he is simply sitting on it out of respect for Derrick. Though he did say there may be a possibility for it to be released in the future, so on could hope. |
GreyShadow
07.19.16 | AFI. La Dispute is quite the close second though. |
Rowan5215
07.19.16 | maybe mine is Floyd actually, the National is a current favourite but Floyd fits the definition better as the one artist that has always stuck with me my whole life... idk, I guess time will tell which of the two I prefer
it's those or blink. |
BMDrummer
07.19.16 | unwound |
user
07.19.16 | tbh rowan I was quite taken aback by your pick.
and nice, bm, I can dig it. |
Rowan5215
07.19.16 | huh, well you can change it I guess unless you're not updating this list in which case natty is fine to represent me. right now Gator is my favourite album of all time and it's helping me thru some stuff so that's why natty were my first pick on your post, but y'know |

07.19.16 | who is user "guess" he seems cool tbh |
TheHamburgerman
07.19.16 | Virgin Steele, even now when I mostly listen to electronic music and much less to power metal I can't withstand this raw and epic sound of the band. |
SgtShock
07.19.16 | Man I wish I was cool enough to have listened to GYBE in 8th grade. The most advanced shit I was rocking back then was System of a Down. |

07.19.16 | Deicide changed my life. I am Satan |

p4p
07.19.16 | yo shithead where's my favorite album |
DazSkunk
07.19.16 | I'm way more of an Around The Fur guy, I adore every record by them except for Gore but ATF and White Pony have always been my top picks |
Mort.
07.19.16 | a few years ago i would of said Fear before the march of flames or enter shikari, but for the last year and a half Unwound have been my favourite band by far and i fully expect them to stay there |
ScuroFantasma
07.19.16 | @user that video is still pretty intense, if there's one thing I can respect about Jon it's his emotional honesty. On your topic of how stuff sticks with people and in what way, I'm definitely less drawn in by the 'angst' or 'heaviness" as I am with their groove now (love Fieldy's bass btw). |
Anthracks
07.19.16 | bowie |
guitarded_chuck
07.19.16 | been pink floyd for a long time yeah |

07.19.16 | Mastodon, based on their first four albums. No matter what they do, I'll always have those first four. |
Claystation
07.19.16 | Animal Collective/Glassjaw. Could never really pick between the two but those are definitely at the top |
omgbecky
