02.29.16 | no idea who David Fincher is but apparently he's directed a bunch of my favourite movies (didn't dig Seven though) |
Spacesh1p
02.29.16 | I'm not a huge film guy but if I could only watch one for the rest of my life it would be Pulp Fiction.
Glad to see There Will Be Blood get a mention - not that its unknown by any means, but the final scene has some of my favorite acting I've ever watched. DDL is astonishingly good throughout. |
Spacesh1p
02.29.16 | Agree with American Psycho but I am a huge Christian Bale fan to begin with. |
Piglet
02.29.16 | Yeah couldn't get into se7en either anarchistfish though it's beeeeen yeeeeaars
There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men are just so fucking ridiculously good i love how they were literally filmed at the same time in the same area, absolutely my favourite two movies of the 00's. |

02.29.16 | get him to the greek just cos I've never laughed so much at a movie |
Spacesh1p
02.29.16 | I enjoy Get Him to the Greek but largely because Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the greatest rom com the world will ever know. |
JeetJeet
02.29.16 | Seven, The Town, Fight Club, The Raid Redemption, Mulholland Drive, Sicario, This is The End, Collateral. I'm forgetting so many others but these are just off the top of my head |
YetAnotherBrick
02.29.16 | The Squid and the Whale, Rushmore, Little Miss Sunshine, Lost in Translation, American Hustle, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Sideways, Fargo, Pulp Fiction, and my new shit is Persepolis. if you haven't heard of it, it's an animated French-Iranian film about a little girl growing up during the Islamic Revolution. and it's probably the best animated movie i've ever seen that isn't Pixar (though Fantastic Planet, Coraline, and Fantastic Mr. Fox all come close).
another great, underrated movie is Me and You and Everyone We Know. yeah that's prolly in my top 20 |
Spacesh1p
02.29.16 | I didn't think Sicario was that good. Felt like a pretty mediocre attempt to recreate Zero Dark Thirty, which itself was by and large saved by the historical relevance of the OBL raid. Decent but nothing amazing. |
Piglet
02.29.16 | I've heard many good things about Persepolis @brick, i will get around to it! |
YetAnotherBrick
02.29.16 | yeah it's a revelation man. with your taste i don't see you not enjoying it
"Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the greatest rom com the world will ever know."

02.29.16 | E. Elias Merhige films are your favourites? Well, that's.. intriguing |
Spacesh1p
02.29.16 | Dark Knight is definitely peak Nolan Batman. Also there's just no arguing that Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the best rom com, I don't even know why you would try. |
manosg
02.29.16 | Great taste! 1,3,5,7 and 23 are some of my favorite movies too. Sunset Boulevard is up there as well along with LOTR, Apocalypse Now, Forrest Gump, The Name of the Rose and a few others. And nothing beats Conan the Barbarian when I'm in the mood for some epic shit. |
BandNewbac
02.29.16 | @Piglet i found a lot of inspiration in them, so its more just holding them quite close to my heart because of that i guess |

02.29.16 | @Choccy Yeah bro that's a classic, plus I love Jim Carrey.
@Zak I also thoroughly enjoyed Boyhood, as films that actually do something innovative (at least to me, I'm no film expert) are usually far more interesting to me than standard films.
Also anyone on this site who hasn't seen Whiplash, please do so. It does an excellent job of capturing the intensity of live music performance - and, it's not too self-indulgent as it's only around 90 minutes. I respect that considering every film these days feels like it deserves a massive chunk of your time (I'm looking at you, Wolf of Wall Street, you terrible, terrible excuse for entertainment). |
Piglet
02.29.16 | oh yeah mad The Sacrifice is one i haven't seen, but yeah i'll be watching The Secret in Their Eyes, Before Sunrise and The Hunt next couple weeks, thanks!

Inland Empire > Mulholland Drive > Elephant Man (> Twin Peaks, as of season 1, I'm not finished yet) > Eraserhead > The Straight Story > Lost Highway > Blue Velvet (> The Grandmother, if you count short films)
Haven't seen Wild at Heart, Dune and the Twin Peaks movie yet. Don't be fooled by Lost Highway and Blue Velvet being the last two, I still like them both a whole lot. David Lynch is probably my second favorite director. |
DoctorDoom
03.01.16 | The Seventh Seal, Blue Velvet. Se7en, Eraserhead, Hot Fuzz are my weird ass top 5. |
Rik VII
03.01.16 | @Arcade: yeah that's roughly what I've heard about them yet, there's a reason why I haven't seen them. To be fair, the main reason for the TP movie is just because I haven't finished the series yet. Dune would be kinda interesting to see because I'm curious how bad it really is. Wild at Heart is easily the least interesting one for me. I can't stand Cage and everything I've read about it so far has only made it less exciting for me. |
