As for me, top 2 are Kurt Angle are Brock Lesnar (ultimate combination of everything a wrestler needs). Rest are Mick Foley, The Undertaker, Eddie Guerrero, Shawn Michaels and Megumi Kudo. |

jmnewcomer18
08.25.15 | jeff hardy wasnt a good wrestler in the slightest. people just liked him because he could jump around. people like Edge and RVD on the other hand could balance all the high risk manuevers with a great deal of technicality |
Spec
08.25.15 | Seth Rollins is one of the most exciting atm. |
jmnewcomer18
08.25.15 | Him and Lesnar own the WWE right now |
Spec
08.25.15 | I disagree that Jeff Hardy wasn't a good wrestler. He wasn't a great technician or anything but he could sell like nobody's business. He also had a decent move set that could keep you entertained no matter what type of match he was placed in. |
PayneTiger777
08.25.15 | Love the legends, but list definitely needs The Rock and Mick Foley.
On the current roster I am a big fan of Cesaro, Kevin Owens, Dean Ambrose, and Bray Wyatt. There's a lot of great talent on the roster that is heavily underutilized. |
jmnewcomer18
08.25.15 | @Spec i honestly wasnt too impressed with his moveset although the whisper in the wind and the nutshop dropkick were pretty cool. He DEFINITELY can sell but my biggest issue was his accent and his mic work was so average imo |
jmnewcomer18
08.25.15 | Alberto Del Rio and Damien Sandow were amazing but Cena buried Sandow and Del Rio was fired for stupid bullshit |
bloc
08.26.15 | Yeah Cesaro has really stepped up, the man is a damn technician. Obv Lesnar is a monster too. Any The New Day stable is fucking gold on the mic. |

08.26.15 | New Day is my favourite in the tag division not counting

08.26.15 | And the bottom of society on Sputnik reveals itself. |
DinosaurJones
08.26.15 | If we're supposed to be the bottom of society because we enjoy wrestling... well, I never understood the stigma against it. I'm pretty sure we all know it's scripted, and yeah, it's silly, but it's just like enjoying any other stupid TV show. |
CalculatingInfinity
08.26.15 | @DinosaurJones: The acting in 2008-2013 WWE is fucking painful, and then you have the train wreck that is TNA but ya the natural stigma it has is ridicious. |
DinosaurJones
08.26.15 | Oh, there are plenty of cringe-worthy moments, but there are those in any TV show. Plus, (most) wrestlers really are very athletically gifted. Watching guys like Rollins, Neville, Finn Balor and even Kevin Owens, they're very impressive. |
PlatonicMushroom
08.26.15 | But can you imagine the level of a mind that watches wrestling |
DinosaurJones
08.26.15 | I don't watch it as much as I used to (usually only the PPVs, and watch/read recaps of the weekly shows), and I think I'm a fairly well-adjusted person...
I mean, I have a full-time job with benefits, listen to a lot of music, play guitar in a band, maybe I'm kind of nerdy? I have a BA in Professional Writing.
I'm not missing any teeth (unless my wisdom teeth count), I don't have any sort of romantic attraction to any family member, and I'm even attracted to the opposite gender.
But if I mention that I watch wrestling occasionally, people have this sort of "huh... really" reaction, and I feel myself dropping on their respect ladder just a few notches. Unless they watch wrestling too, of course. |
CalculatingInfinity
08.26.15 | "but there are those in any TV show."
I think when wrestling is bad, it's either hilarious or the dirt worst which both outcomes are on a scale of no other TV show.
"But can you imagine the level of a mind that watches wrestling"
What is that supposed to mean? |
PlatonicMushroom
08.26.15 | Lol dino I'm just bustin yo balls
That said if an European who's over 13 confesses to watching wrestling I'm pretty sure they get extruded from polite society. Americans are held to lesser standards since they have all kinds of weird cultural phenomena e.g. superhero cartoons
@calc it's a quote from a woody allen movie |
DinosaurJones
08.26.15 | Really? Whenever I see WWE shows from Europe, they're always super-packed. Is it that weird to enjoy wrestling in Europe or is it one of those "like it in secret, but don't tell anyone" things? |
CalculatingInfinity
08.26.15 | Fair enough, never watched the movie. I catch up with OSW Review and Botchamania constantly plus keep up with the current issues in the industry/current storylines however I haven't actually watched Wrestling since 2007. It's been close to me heart and always will. |
CalculatingInfinity
08.26.15 | @Dinosaur: Euro crouds (especally UK ones) rules. Over here there's still a stigma to it unfortunately. |
DinosaurJones
08.26.15 | Ah, well, no shame in liking what you like. Live shows are buckets of fun. An interactive crowd makes the show 10x better. |
guitarded_chuck
08.26.15 | wrestling died in the 90s |
CalculatingInfinity
08.26.15 | It's no where as popular as it was pre Wrestlemania 17, Golden Era or the Territories however I'd say this year has finally start a climb up to greener pasters (minus TNA, fucking lol). It's hardly a boom period but the seeds are in place by having more Indie places to go to, Vince will die soon and NXT. The day that Triple H finally takes over and Vince dies is where the main product of WWE (i.e. Raw) will finally return to quality. Will it return to that level of popularity? I have no idea and probably not although for now I wouldn't say it's completely dead. |
PlatonicMushroom
08.26.15 | @dino in northern Europe, if it's ever mentioned it's generally just to marvel at the weirdness of it
Idk about the attendance to Finnish shows, but there's no native scene, and based on tv commercials wwe organizes a show here like every third year or so, so everyone who's interested probably attends |
DinosaurJones
08.26.15 | It's definitely looking up, I'd say. '07-'13 was just godawful, with the company basically relying purely on Cena and Orton.
Now that they're starting to finally focus on upcoming talent, and actually FOSTERING upcoming talent, such as Ambrose, Rollins, Wyatt, even Reigns, and utilizing part-timers like they should (Lesnar, Undertaker, Sting), the product is getting compelling again. There are still some major booking problems in the case of the midcard still floundering like hell with no stories, I really think the talent is there.
I, for one, am invested in the Undertaker/Lesnar storyline. It probably helps that Heyman is an absolute god on the Mic. |
CalculatingInfinity
08.26.15 | Heyman is the best talk on the mic WWE has ever had or will have, that man is magic. Lesner is of course the biggest draw in WWE and they're finally using him like they should. I remember when he first came back and they had him LOSE HIS FIRST MATCH! Fuck me -_- |
CalculatingInfinity
08.26.15 | I think this is a good rant, shame to look at some of the figures: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzwLUj0thfI |
DinosaurJones
08.26.15 | I'll have to check that out when I'm not in the office. Youtube is blocked :(
But I hvae to say Summerslam is the first show I watched in awhile, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I didn't watch the whole thing, but I like what I saw. Cesaro/Owens was just a good match for the sake of a good match, the Divas match was actually pretty decent (and Paige is unbelievably attractive), and Lesnar/Undertaker was quite a good match in terms of storytelling, though the ending was kind of weak. |
CalculatingInfinity
08.26.15 | He's the summery of it for you since you're in office:
Vince, pick a fucking lane and stop trying to cater to everyone (get rid of Kevin Dunn too). |
DinosaurJones
08.26.15 | That sounds about right. I'm not saying return to the Attitude Era, since a lot of that stuff was ridiculous, and not in a good way, but a more gritty, hard-hitting product is much more compelling. |
CalculatingInfinity
08.26.15 | I'd get too frustrated with the current product to watch it, the concept for a 3 hour Raw to me alone is wtf. Alot of problems to fix, and they've only festered since 2002 slowly. |
DinosaurJones
08.26.15 | Yeah, that's why I usually only watch the PPVs (if that) and just read up on the weekly shows/watch highlights. |
jmnewcomer18
08.26.15 | i'd say 2005 was the last GREAT year. Matt Hardy vs Edge and Lita feud was among the best in history. Pure gold |
