05.15.15 | hate to rain on your parade but Roger Waters is an awful bass player. Fun fact: most of the bass you hear on The Wall is Gilmour. |

05.17.15 | Yeah I agree I should have put Les Claypool, my bad, however I was never really influenced by Rush so that's why I left out Geddy Lee, that's something I need to check out.
There's a lot of Flea bashing in here and as I said I am not really excited by the new stuff, but you can't deny that he is a great player who has influenced a lot of people into picking up bass and creating bass lines that don't just follow the guitar. Mothers milk was a great introduction to playing bass for me. |
DrGonzo1937
05.17.15 | Sure, on a mainstream level flea is a good inspiration (though I never got into him when I first started) but the real money comes from les. Dude would slap a hole in fleas head if it came to it. |

05.18.15 | Thanks , iv not heard a lit of them so will check them out. Another other great bassists please post them, really want to hear more.
Also having had another look at the list i definitely missed les Claypool, loved playing along to .....sea of cheese and ......punchbowl. I also Stuart Zender from jamiroquai, his style really made a huge impression on me, so sorry for missing him out. |
DrGonzo1937
05.18.15 | I did a list of my top 5 awhile back:
Ryan Martinie - Mudvayne
Twiggy Ramirez - Marilyn Manson
Juan Alderete - Mars Volta
Les Claypool - Primus
Toshiya - DIR EN GREY |
DrGonzo1937
05.18.15 | I like a bassist that knows how to create a nice feel to a song without sounding pretentious. Toshiya and Juan know how to do that very well. |
