04.07.15 | put your amp in the oven for 2 minutes at just less than 200 degrees on the middle rack. this ensures the perfect amount of heat transfer, but still monitor it closely so it doesnt actually burn (you just want the sodder to get hot enough to vaporize ever so slightly). be careful when taking it out though my buddy burnt himself pretty bad doing this... hella worth it though his tone is Kyuss level good now |

either way, if you want 80s thrash I guess you can do it but most understand now that mids are important. i usually just run a distortion pedal and set everything to 6 |

04.08.15 | Don't scoop your mids, it might sound ok by yourself but in a mix with other instruments it will get lost.
HM-2 pedal with all settings dimed if you want that Entombed, Dismember, OSDM sound. Also In Flames recorded everything Whoracle and earlier with a HM-2 through Marshall Valvestates. Also I'd imagine nails uses an HM-2. It really is the best way to get that buzz saw distortion
I'll tell you right now if you have the money, get a Peavey 6505 head with either a 2x12 or 4x12 closed back cab loaded with Celestion V30s. You'll find the tone you seek. |

04.08.15 | Boss HM-2[667] or Behringer HM300 is best for that Nails kinda tone. Alternatively you can try running your guitar through an equilizer with lots of bands, boosting the very low end and cutting out the fatty part of the mids so you get a thick and nasty tone with decent pick attack.
One thing I would recommend is that if you have an Apple device you should try getting Jamup and get a bass overdrive in that, then run that into a bass amp in the app. That normally produces a pretty great HM-2 esque tone.
For the latter two on your list you want to be tuned around Eb and then you really just want to cut your low mids since that gives you loads of pick attack.
It's worth trying amp sims on IOS or Android really if you want a heavy tone since you can get good results for a fraction of the cost of full amp. It's not quite the same but you'll get a far better sound than a cheap solid state amp or a budget tube amp, and it'll cost less. On top of that, you'll probably get way more versatility out of it. I recommend Ampkit and Jamup, and heavily discourage Amplitube which is really not very good.
