MrSirLordGentleman 02.21.15	Always wanted to do this list and with the updated lists I decided to do it. In the end there are more "mainstream" songs than I excepted, but I still think it is a good mix of popular songs and some that are more underground and also a good mix of old and new. Wanted to do just one song per band, but I couldn't decide in some cases.

Friday13th 02.23.15	no haha but for me it has to both meet a certain length and have multiple parts in a somewhat unpredictable form. Something like Bohemian Rhapsody would still qualify. Like "Heaven and Hell" is awesome, but I wouldn't call it an epic even with the extended solo.
LokitheTrickster 02.23.15	A great list containing many songs by bands I like and more that I definitely need to check out. I was actually surprised you had The Residents on here. Eskimo has to be one of the weirdest albums I've ever heard.

MrSirLordGentleman 02.23.15	Well the studio version has the orchestra, it adds a lot of emotion to the song, but the guitar is way more powerful on Strangers in the Night
Friday13th 02.23.15	Love to Love yeah one of my favorites. Both live and studio are amazing.
Nagrarok 02.23.15	Awesome list indeed, I know the majority of these but some I have yet to hear. Here's a couple of random thoughts simply because I can't resist: - 3x Sabbath and NO WAR PIGS? Yes, I did see the honourable mentions, but that thing is too damn good even to be put in there. - Couldn't agree more with everything you said from 8-12, terrific choices/songs. - Very nice to see Fools next to Child in Time. - As for Dio, Holy Diver seems to qualify as at least a semi-epic to me. - It's always good to see Focus pop up here! - Yeah, even among Genesis' many fantastic epics, Firth of Fifth is something special. - Well said about GnR, they were a great hard rock band. - Nothing from Space Ritual? Surely you've heard it? - In a list of epics (by someone who listens to metal), Hallowed Be Thy Name is of course an absolute must. But I'm just going to pretend you meant to type, say, 'Powerslave', instead of The Final Frontier. Which is ok, but surely one of the weakest moments on its album... - 38-40 are very much favourites of mine as well. Achilles rules, but I have never managed to like it quite as much as their strongest tracks up to and including PG, let alone call it Zep's best. But to each their own! - Metallica have a great many thrashing epics, so the 'other' list seems a little shallow here compared to the others (especially since it lacks MoP and CREEPING DEATH), but Fade to Black might just be the best metal ballad ever, as far as I'm concerned. - Some love for the Moody Blues is a good thing too. - Really need to revisit Hair of the Dog, I remember that it rocked.
Nagrarok 02.23.15	- Can't go wrong with those for Floyd. A personal favourite of mine that you didn't include/mention would be Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun. The Pompeii version, especially. - Nothing from Up the Downstair for PT? - The Prophet's Song is a more surprising one, always liked it. Your description for Innuendo is spot on. Mercury's performance is indeed amazing, though his vocals in The Show Must Go On truly hit me in a way that few songs can or have. - Ah, Rainbow and Renaissance, more proof of a great taste and knowledge concerning relatively unpopular bands! The same goes for Roth-era Scorpions, really worth getting into (I have Jamie to thank for that I believe). - Supertramp have made some great stuff, School is my personal favourite. - Even with Uriah Heep's share of epic songs, Easy Livin' still gets me every time. - Hackett, Strawbs, Van der Graaf, more (somewhat) overlooked prog goodness! - I'm certainly an advocate of Drama, and Machine Messiah effectively explored new ground for Yes, but I really can't agree with it touching the heights that they reached in their prime. But I forgive you since your other choice is Close to the Edge ;) - I'm not too big a fan of ELP either, but I think they sounded best of their first album. Trilogy is great too, though. - I used to think the same about growls, but together with Opeth, Agalloch slowly gave me a bit of appreciation for them, indeed thanks to those pretty acoustic passages. - Everything on Laughing Stock is a beauty, remains a truly unique record. - As Jethro would say, Gentle Giant are definitely an acquired taste. Give them another chance! Very fittingly, I would say Acquiring the Taste is the album best listened to in order to dig them. ...end random thoughts. Been a long while.

JamieTwort 02.23.15	Great to see My God on here. Certainly not the most obvious choice for a Tull epic. "Some of the band's best lyrics" Have to disagree with you there as I think Anderson went on to write lyrics a lot better than the ones in that song, as great as they may be.

Jethro42 02.25.15	Yeah MrSirLord, that's what's makes the song so enticing. Its first part is like you said, a normal Supertramp song, even nothing too special I'd say. But the fact that it's one of my fave says a lot on what I think of its second part.

Jethro42 03.01.15	Yeah ''We Used to Know'' is a great bluesy folk rock song. Not sure about which one is the best, both are great. However, Hotel California has a lot of radio play, which remove some of its value to me (I even got tired of it), and it owes a lot to the Tull's song. The original is the better, most of the time.
