| Diru Ranked: Average Blasphemy/Birthday
Honestly, what is there to say about Dir en Ghe - err, Grey - that hasn't already been discussed about? Led by Kyo, a man with a hundred voices (quite far from Mike Patton's thousand) and a hypocritical liking for ice cream, this Japanese metal band's certainly stood the test of time in my book. Yes, they're not necessarily on the level of success that legendary visual kei rockers X Japan and Buck-Tick have garnered, though bear in mind Dir's very popular overseas and in their native country. With nine full-length recordings under their belt possessing distinct and not-so-unique qualities, it's hard to detest the entourage as much as it is tough to really like them - at least for a vocal minority. Anyhoo, in honor of me turning 19 today, I've decided to unleash this list of the group's albums ranking from weakest to most robust. Akin to my Faith No More rendition, I'll also be including song highlights. | 9 | | Dir En Grey Vulgar
"Kasumi," "Child Prey," "Red... [em]," "Sajou no Uta," "Amber," and "Drain Away" | 8 | | Dir En Grey Macabre

01.28.15 | Inb4 shitstorm. Whether you like the band or not, feel free to discuss your favorite DeG tracks. | CalculatingInfinity
01.28.15 | Happy B-day bro, now the same age as me :D
2 is shite :P | Gameofmetal
01.28.15 | Awesome sauce band | EvoHavok
01.28.15 | I've only listened to 1, 3 and 5 in full-form and I know most of the recommended tracks from the others. All awesome.
Happy birthday! :) | Gameofmetal
01.28.15 | Same ^ only heard 1,3, and 5 technically | Jasdevi087
01.29.15 | tfw 6. Still need to hear 9 and 4, band's aight.
Happy birthday biq boi. | Jasdevi087
04.23.15 | Actually Boros, I need a definitive answer as to why on earth you in all your love for this band, believe that Gauze is worse than Dum Spiro Spero. | Angelboros
04.23.15 | To be honest, I find those two albums interchangeable; not in terms of sound, but rather lasting value. Gauze, whilst a little dated IMO (then again, it was released in 1999), still makes for a pretty fascinating listen without any shadow of a doubt. Meanwhile, Dum Spiro Spero hits only slightly more spots in comparison. The debut might harness better mixing, though - and I'm going to piss off some of you here - DSS has the likes of "Ruten no Tou" and "Lotus", so you can't go wrong with that one. However, on the other side of the spectrum, Gauze has "Cage," "Yurameki," and the ever so uncomfortable "Mazohyst of Decadence".
Consider my love for this band a bit biased, but whatever, man. | Jasdevi087
04.23.15 | That's cool, also strange choice for 9. | crossparallel
03.06.16 | Oh, you also love Kisou! High five for that. | Angelboros
03.06.16 | Diru have yet to release a bad album IMO. I'm anxious to hear the new single whenever it drops, and knowing these guys, it could sound like anything; even shit LOL
Sweet bump, cross :) | CalculatingInfinity
03.06.16 | New single in July so he won't have to wait that long :] | EvoHavok
03.06.16 | It's not a close date, either. The early announcement only made the wait harder haha. | Angelboros
03.06.16 | I'm expecting a new album from this band maybe 2-3 years from now, give or take. | crossparallel
03.06.16 | I'm more optimistic, maybe mid/end-of next year latest? They took their time between Uroboros and DSS, but seem to have picked up their pace. Kyo especially has been on fire with his projects recently. | CalculatingInfinity
03.07.16 | I'd say late next year/early year after that since they have tours this year in Japan. | JizzInMyPants
03.07.16 | Oh hey look! the same 5 people that talks about the band! | JigglyPDiddy
03.07.16 | Happy bday! Different Sense is becoming my favorite track by them as of late. DSS might be 1 for now, as well... | EvoHavok
03.07.16 | It definitely is mine. | CalculatingInfinity
03.07.16 | Part of the DSS crew congrats. | JigglyPDiddy
03.08.16 | Yeah, it's official. haha | Angelboros
03.08.16 | I would love DSS a lot more than I already do if not for Juuyoku and Hageshisa To, just Saiyan. Like, they're far from terrible tracks, but I don't find myself coming back to those often. Different Sense is one of my favorite singles. | Jasdevi087
03.08.16 | "I would love DSS a lot more than I already do if not for Juuyoku and Hageshisa To, just Saiyan. "
... :'( | EvoHavok
03.08.16 | Juuyoku is one of my favs. Sheer insanity. | CalculatingInfinity
03.08.16 | Juuyoku and Hage are God tier though wtf (especally Hage live). | Angelboros
03.08.16 | I imagine those sound better in a live environment, anyway. Speaking of which, there are more live recordings I'd like to tackle. Tour14 kicked ass and I'm rather eager to get on certain others. Prolly not at this moment because there's a rev for an album I'm focusing on :P | EvoHavok
03.08.16 | You should. I've watched a whole lot of them the past months. | CalculatingInfinity
03.08.16 | If this live performance of Hage doesn't blow your mind then idk: https://youtu.be/5BG7qgi2CpM?t=25m | EvoHavok
03.08.16 | Wise decision for not letting it as last song for that show. |
