Well, that was surprising for me as web programmer that there is no such feature like dynamic list size. Well, will try to fill it in time.

12.27.14 | Looking back at Atreyu's discography, the only record I've ever given a pass for is A Deathgrip on Yesterday. I

i rec Myra's latest. i just added it to the dbase. it blends styles, but i would say it fits into metalcore |
Akagami
12.29.14 | What's 14 doing here? I don't get it.
However, if you're into TDEP and Norma Jean, you'd like The Chariot. Go check The Fiancée. |

12.29.14 | 2Akagami
If you'll check their page on this site, you'll found the genres of music they are playing are:
Metalcore
Hardcore
Experimental
Yeah, I know they do "Mathcore", but thats pretty close to metalcore. And since I do not listen alot of "Mathcore" I just leave this great album here.
Also I've listened to 1 of The Chariot's albums, pretty decent stuff, will dig deeper into 'em later.

12.30.14 | Ok guys, here is some feedback:
Rorschach - Protestant. I did not expect this tbh. One of the worst vocals I ever heard. It was impossible for me to separate a single word. Probably it would fit some sort black metal. Even with occasional decent riffing this album is very hard to listen. Probably vocalist should've started black metal / grindcore band, but instead he started...
Deadguy - Fixation on a Coworker. Ex-Rorschach vocalist. Skip.
Kiss It Goodbye - She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not. Did I tell ya that Rorschach had some decent riffs? Well, this band is a proof. Pretty decent stuff.
Botch - An Anthology Of Dead Ends. Fine album, final 2 tracks rule. Will definetly check the rest of their discography. |
Artuma
12.30.14 | "One of the worst vocals I ever heard"
foad. well at least you dug botch |
sadchild
12.30.14 | Yeah, Botch is much more audible. I was about to check 'We are the romans' someday, but did not for unknown reason.
As for Rorschach vocals, i can't even say its 'vocals', it's 'anti-vocals', it did not add, it disrupts instrumentals. Kiss It Goodbye was really decent, I will check it later again cause yesterday I listen to it while working on some routine tasks.
And 'foad' means ...? |
Artuma
12.30.14 | well we are the romans is probably the most influential metalcore album ever so yea check it, it's also better than 99% of metalcore albums.
i love rorschach vox, they are so raw and violent and really fit the music tbh
foad = fuck off and die :] |

BTBAM - Colors
Burst - Lazarus Bird
Cave In - Until Your Heart Stops
Hopesfall - No Wings to Speak Of
Poison the Well - The Opposite of December
Shai Hulud - That Within Blood Ill-Tempered
Zao - Liberate Te Ex Inferis |
DoctorDoom
12.30.14 | Wow, I haven't heard anyone mention Burst since like 2007. Back when they would get compared to BTBAM. |
JokineAugustus
12.31.14 | Burst > BTBAM easily. |
sadchild
12.31.14 | >>"across five aprils"

I dunno mait, they're just a band I found long time ago. Not the one with alot of recognition, but I found this album enjoyable.
2chinesewhispers
I can't get into Poison The Well :( I heard alot of recs in both this and my post-hardcore list, I listened to 3 or 4 of their albums, but all of em have zero replayability for me.
Pretty much same with BTBAM. Listened to Great Misdirect, some of their earlier stuff, did not impressed me alot. However their vocalist's guest appearance in ABR song rules hard.
Shai Hulud are seems more hardcore for me, heard their last album, Monumental Graves and Human Failing rules aswell. Will check full discog later.
Put the rest into checklist. |

12.31.14 | @sadchild yeah I understand, it just kinda like being a fan of any style of music, there are certain "must listens" out there since they were so important for the genre, ya know?
as long as you're giving em a try, I don't have any issues |
sadchild
12.31.14 | I am here not to research the origins of the genre, I am here to find more music similar to what I like :]
And, of course, I'll try to listen to all of your recs, I just need some time. |
sadchild
01.09.15 | Feedback part #2:
Trap Them - Darker Handcraft. Surprisingly fun. Was a bit aware after viewing tags, but it appears to be pretty decent.
Gaza - No absolutes in human suffering. 3br--tal5me.
Coalesce - Functioning on impatience. Same as prev. Too short, too angry. Yelled intro to the 1st song is really bad.
Knut - Challenger. Need more epic enders. Not impressed.
Catharsis - Passion. All the good things of this album does not connected to its -core parts. Is 'Desert Without Mirages'... raggae or wtf was that?
Comity - As Everything is a Tragedy. Yeah, it was really smart to rec me this tragedy. Turned it off around 15:00 when 'vocalist' starts vomiting into mic. The band has 5-10 rating votes per album even here. Does anyone knows about them besides their parents and a dozen of 'l33t c0r3 lovers'? Well, its even better not alot of ppl heard 'em. Worst rec yet, on par with Rorschach.
As Cities Burn - Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest. More like post-hardcore version of Underoath. But at least it is listenable, probably check more later.
Zao - Liberate Te Ex Inferis. Will definetly check the rest, plus their current drummer is playing with FATA now. |
Dodenakker
01.09.15 | This list is all kinds of wrong. |
JokineAugustus
01.09.15 | I'm pretty surprised you didn't like that Comity album. You like The Ocean and Cult of Luna, who I think are pretty similar. If anything, the album is way more about the instrumentals than vocals, but I can see that being off putting. |
sadchild
01.09.15 | Yeah, I saw CoL in the 'similar bands ', but in case of Comity 'vocals' killed it for me, same as Rorschach.
Overall I think I'll come with post/progressive metal list one day. |

01.10.15 | Story of our lives. |
Artuma
01.10.15 | ">>what's metalcore even about if not for anger and intensity?
lol"
huh? |
sadchild
01.10.15 | Well, I still believe that besides "anger" and "intensity" there should be some talent ya know. Some efforts should be put into musicianship, performing skills. But vomiting into mic instead of vocals and scratching strings with pick instead of riffing don't sound 'angry' for me, it sounds awful. I remember the old fable sounds something like "If you want to play guitar, but have no talent - play punk, if you want to sing, but have no talent - do rap." So if you cant both sing and play guitars you should do metalcore? Hell no, I will not accept it.
Also Artuma, your fav band should be Emmure right? They are so angry, frontbro is really angry diagonal ass fellow.
|
Dodenakker
01.10.15 | I really don't think Artuma meant it like that. And besides 'verge and Coalesce have way more talent, intensity, anger and musicianship than From Autumn.. and Parkway Drive. |
Artuma
01.10.15 | you just haven't got used to the raw sound and vocals. what metalcore was supposed to fuse was the heaviness of metal and the energy of hardcore punk but apparently the genre ended up dropping the punk part off it. emmure isn't angry, it's just embarrassing wnb tough guy music |
sadchild
01.10.15 | Lol, anger is not an indicator for me. According to this judgement Underoath is not metalcore at all 'cause their music (especially lyrics) is not 'angry'. Same I dont judge about who's got more or less talent, but some bands lack talent at all.
So to remind the goal of this list: i dont wanna get most xBRVTALx, xRAWx, xTRVEx xXxMETALCORExXx ever, I wanna hear something similar to what I like. Even if I will enjoy 1 of 20 recs, I'd still call it a win. And as for now I listened to 12 recs and at least 2 bands will be listened much more careful, so its already going pretty good. |
Artuma
01.10.15 | so basically you don't wanna branch out at all, fine. you are completely missing our point with our recs |
sadchild
01.10.15 | No, maybe I just got specific tastes. Plus sometimes I got into bands after alot of time I listen to em for the first time. Initially I don't enjoy, for example, Alexisonfire, Thursday, Emery, The Bled after first listens, but now I can call any of 'em my favorites.
I will still check every single rec, but I'd like to hear more melodic stuff. |
Artuma
01.10.15 | i understand it's hard to get into rorschach when you expect stuff like underoath but i hope you'll keep these recs in mind and try to expand your taste a bit. botch is a good start |

01.10.15 | listen to sylosis. hope its not to xXxBRVTALxXx for your sorry ass.

01.17.15 | Feedback part #3:
Idylls - Prayer For Terrene. Not metalcore. Some sort of noise/grind/screamo/whatever. Surprisingly listenable. Probably even enjoyable with huge dependency on mood.
Beecher - Breaking The Fourth Wall. There was no full album on youtube, but I checked the majority of the tracks. Pretty decent one, will try check to further, plus they have only 2 albums.
Earth Crisis - Destroy the Machines. Ok. Yeah, sorta influental band, but a bit monotone for me. More like hardcore.
The Chariot - Fiancee. If you cut noisy intros/outros and choir, there would be like 20 min EP. 'Bless The Martyr' was better. 'One Wing' was better. Will check further in reverse order.
Killswitch Engage - Alive or just breathing. Ok.
Sylosis - Dormant Heart. Not metalcore. More like MDM. Pretty boring, unnecessary solos everywhere. Bonus tracks more entertaining than the base album. |

Deadguy - Fixation On A Coworker. Lol. Nearly missed another decent album by mistake.
Acme - To Reduce The Choir To One Soloist. 2short2angry. Having tracks with duplicate names is so hardcore.
Unruh - Setting fire to sinking ships. Same as prev. Actully should be on previous feedback part, but the fact that I completely forget about this album is its best mycharacteristic.
Burst - Lazarus Bird. More like post/prog metal.
Cave In - Until Your Heart Stops. Has its moments, not many of 'em however. Will probably give one more chance to Jupiter later.
Hopesfall - The Satellite Years. Have more moments than prev. Check further.
Drowningman - Busy Signal At The Suicide Hotline. Mix of average and good tracks. Noted.
Exotic Animal Petting Zoo - Tree Of Tongues. Lol, not metalcore, decent birdscore instead.
Johnny Truant - In The Library Of Horrific Events. Check further with high priority. Several tracks slay. One of the best recs yet.

02.04.15 | Feedback part#5:
Myra - Valley. Showed some potential at the mid-album, after several boring tracks. Noted. Tnx for the link Dunpeal.
His Hero Is Gone - Fifteen Counts Of Arson. Basically title of the 1st track describes the whole album. 24 tracks in around 35 minutes. More like hardcore/grind.
Hollow Earth - Silent Graves. I have suspicions that the whole album has same bpm. I can't say these guys are utterly bad, but their monotone chugging are annoying as fuck. They need much more variability in their sound.
Plebeian Grandstand - Lowgazers. Some sort of a... blackened grind? Either way it's not metalcore.
Spitfire - Cult Fiction. It was 5th ~core album in a row, so I was tired a bit. All I can remember - it's chaotic. Might check another album later.
Cursed - II. Not metalcore. Listenable, but not what I'm looking for.
Nostromo - Ecce Lex. Ehm... Listenable grind/hc is just a half of the deal. When I was listening to one of the tracks, youtube offered me an acoustic version of their song. I was curious and checked whole 'Hysteron / Proteron' album. So yeah, it's an acoustic grind. Now I can say I heard everything. |

i rec'd you older amity in the phc list because those are more phc while the two newer ones i recd here are pretty much definition modern metalcore
but yeah agreed with artuma almost all of my recs are really negatively received
only recd atf an awlwlb because they're easier to get into, telling someone "check jane doe" is a pretty pointless effort, i personally don't know of anyone who really dug it on the first try but it could happen |

Well, I don't pay alot of attention to the ratings, but when I see crabcore (like abandon all ships) or genericcore (like memphis may fire) in similarities my enthusiasm starts to quickly vanish away. I will try to listen at least a single per band, probably will change my mind on some of em. |

The Arusha Accord - The Echo Verses. Were confirming #illuminati before it became mainstream.
Skycamefalling - 10.21. Really awesome instrumental tracks, everything else apart from several good riffs disappoints, especially poor unclean vocals and production. This album needs to be re-recorded.
Burnt By The Sun - Soundtrack To The Personal Revolution. Most tracks off this album are unavailible, but from what I've heard it is chaostic and reminds early TDEP. Will probably check abother album later.
Crydebris - The Severing. This is actually good. Have no surprise some members joined Devil Sold His Soul some time after. Sadly they have only this 4 track EP.

Training For Utopia - Plastic Soul Impalement. Unfortunately it was in bad quality on youtube. Can't say alot about 'em, but if I stood the whole length it isn't bad.
Scarlet - Cult Classic. Decent stuff.
Reflux - The Illusion Of Democracy. So their guitarist is now in Animals As Leaders... It's sad, 'cause this was better than AAL.
Hundredth - Let Go. Slightly above average. Needs more diversity.
Vanna - Void. Vocals suck. Can't stand alot of these guys.
Kingdom Of Giants - Ground Culture. Yeah, some generic lyrics/breakdowns, but these guys are pretty decent. If they will stop use templates and obtain more individuality they could become big. Title track is good.
And there was some 'indirect' recs - BTBAM and ETID. I heard both of these bands before, but I decide to give these bands more listens. So:
Between The Buried And Me - Alaska/Colors/Silent Circus. So 1st album by these fellas that I had a chance to listen was The Great Misdirect. And it was boring. Aswell as 'Parallaxes'. Alaska and Colors are waaay funnier tho, good performance with some catchy moments. Cleans are also good, wish Tommy use 'em more frequently. Silent Circus is something in between ~2006 and ~2010 albums.
Every Time I Die - Hot Damn/New Junk Aesthetic/Ex Lives. Overlooked. Heard From Parts Unknown, was not impressed me. Decide to check other songs and found some tunes that absolutely slay. Great vocals, great sound variety. Not perfect, but it's sad I haven't heard 'Revival Mode' or 'Wanderlust' before. |

Glad you liked it. I understand a young band releasing a genericore album to get their name out there. Here's hoping their next develops their sound further.
"Vanna - Void. Vocals suck. Can't stand alot of these guys." I'd say it's more of an acquired taste, but fair enough.
"Between The Buried And Me - Alaska/Colors/Silent Circus" Told you their older material is better. Good stuff.

02.19.15 | Its not about band being young or not, its about a band being unique. In KOG's case they are good separately, they need to try something their own, not putting 'The Dictator' speech into a track just because it's trendy and Teh Chariot did that too.

02.20.15 | Don't get me wrong, the speech itself is very passionate. I was actually surprised when I found that it was spoken by Charles Chaplin, well known for his comic images. I have a problem listening to most -core bands that just copy each other without adding personality to their sound. For example, if you'll listen to Alexisonfire / Dance Gavin Dance / Protest The Hero debuts you will never misrecognize 'em again. So its not even about band's age. Like, I guess noone in 2008 expected that BMTH will move from deathcore/thrashy metalcore into pretty unique post-hardcore. Even with them (or another collective) not being the best band ever, they show progress and individuality. And these are the things I really appreciate everywhere and in everyone, but especially in music.
