Summer Slaughter Review

So I got to see Summer Slaughter and it was awesome! So here's the bands I saw ranked on rtheir performance.
8The Black Dahlia Murder
Ritual

They didn't play but both Trevor and Brian were in attendance which was an awesome opportunity for me to meet two guys in
one of my favorite bands.
7Thy Art Is Murder
Hate

Their art is not murder....it's breakdowns. But seriously my problem with this band wasn't that they couldn't play live or put on
an entertaining show it's just I can't get into the music. I find Thy Art Is Murder rather boring and predictable from a musicial
standpoint. They played a decent show but I just can't get into it, especially when there's a bunch of skinny kids flailing around
their bony elbows in a mosh pit. Despite not being a fan of the band I talked to the drummer about blast beats for a minute
later that night which was kinda fun.
6 Boreworm
Black Path EP

The only thing I knew about these guys before hand was that their fill in bass player was the bass player of a local band I like
called "Ethereality". They only had time to play a handful of songs but made the most of it and were a solid opener for sure.
5Origin
Omnipresent

These guys wank a bit excessively but they were good live. It was fun to watch them rip off technical riff after technical riff.
They also had a silent wall of death, which was definitely a first for me. The mosh pits here were pretty intense too, so intense
my friend actually got a concussion in one...fucking brutal.
4The Faceless
Planetary Duality

The Faceless were the only band on tour to show clean vocals all night but were still just as heavy as anyone. It was a real
treat to watch Michael, Evan and Alex all shred the hell out of their instruments for a full set. They played stuff off all 3 albums
which I was glad to hear and see. It was also awesome seeing one of my favorite drummers Alex Rudinger play.
3Decrepit Birth
Diminishing Between Worlds

I was not familiar with Decrepit Birth or their material before the show but I sure as hell am now. Decrepit Birth was completely
brutal and had some great pits to go along with it. Vocalist Bill Robinson was by far the best front man of any band on the tour.
Imagine a possessed hippy with long dread locks and matching beard get on stage and just take complete control of the crowd.
It's hard to describe Bill's stage presents in words, but it's out of this world awesome. I'll for sure be listening to some Decrepit
Birth from now on. I even got to shake Bill's hand after the show and say hi.
2Fallujah
The Flesh Prevails

Fallujah was the band I wanted to see the most on the bill and they did not disappoint. It was great to see them able to pull off
all the technical parts found in their music with ease. One minute the crowd would be moshing to a heavy section and the next
watching in awe as an atmospheric section kicked in. The only problem was they only played about a 20 minute set, which
wasn't surprising to me but still sucks. I also got Alex to sign my Flesh Prevails shirt.
1Dying Fetus
Reign Supreme

These guys were almost hypnotizing to watch live. It was mind blowing to see only 3 guys make such a huge wall of brutal
sound. The mosh pits were pretty crazy throughout the whole set too. I nearly shit myself when bassist Sean Beasley
screamed
a few lines while looking me straight in the eyes, it was horrifyingly badass. My only gripe is they didn't play "Subjected To A
Beating" which is my favorite Dying Fetus song but it's cool.
