2014 Ranked Thus Far
Time for a list as I have yet to make one. This is my reviews for 2014 at this point in time. Will pump out more reviews and ratings soon when work settles down a bit. Thanks for reading and comments are always appreciated. |
1 | | Black Monolith Passenger
The most musically diverse metal record I have listened to this year and I cannot stop listening. |
2 | | nic/Old Soul Split
Loud, aggressive, beautiful, and thrilling on both sides. Everything a music fan can ask for from a split. |
3 | | IDYLLS PRAYER FOR TERRENE
Nasty, aggressive, and abrasive punk rock at it's finest. |
4 | | Have a Nice Life The Unnatural World
Incredibly creepy from beginning to end with some nice punk rock and ambient roots to boot. |
5 | | Wreck and Reference Want
Slight improvement over their already solid artistry. Excited to see where they grow from this point. |
6 | | Planning for Burial Desideratum
Most depressing album of the year thus far, but also one of the best. Drone is really starting to grow on me. |
7 | | White Suns Totem
Terrifying in every sense of the word. Feels as if you are being chased through an old warehouse by a murderer. |
8 | | St. Vincent St. Vincent
Solid effort from St. Vincent that oozes originality even if some of the songs are a bit disappointing. |
9 | | Ingrid Michaelson Lights Out
Folk and Indie's most endearing soul comes back with her best work yet, but still a bit too soft for it's own good. |
10 | | Chevelle La Gargola
Chevelle's finest material since Wonder What's Next. Hopefully this heavier direction becomes a trend. |
11 | | Body Count Manslaughter
Goofy, funny, commanding, and fun. Everything Body Count fans have been waiting for. |
12 | | Cloud Nothings Here and Nowhere Else
A bit of a disappointment from their previous full-length, but still a solid punk and lo-fi album. |
13 | | The Roots ...and then you shoot your cousin
Not the finest work from The Roots but still a decent album with four more strong songs to add to their discography |
14 | | Memphis May Fire Unconditional
Solid metalcore but definitely could be a lot better. Too cheesy and simple to mean anything. |
15 | | Crosses Crosses
Chino Moreno always brings clout to his side projects and there are a lot of solid tracks here, but there is too many songs and similar threads throughout. |
16 | | Trash Talk No Peace
A good introduction to hardcore music, but the song length is pathetic and too many wasted tracks throughout. Cloud Kicker still kicks ass though. |
17 | | Pharrel G I R L
Worst album I have listened to this year. Happy is a great single and Hunter is goofy fun, but the rest of the tracks try too hard and display Pharrel's limits vocally. |
